      @Tens Flavo You serious? Barkley made a little over $43 million in player salary, half of that or close to half of it went to his agent and taxes. So he was left with like $22 million. He pissed away at least half of that money away by gambling.

    • @91debaser
      @91debaser 6 лет назад +33

      Lol, you think he didn’t invest his earnings and make many times more? You think he let just it sit in the bank or something? Plus his endorsement deals, plus he’s been on a rather large contract from TNT for the last 20 years. 20 million dollars is a lot of money and it’s not nothing even to someone like Barkley but come on, get real, this was money he could afford to gamble away.

      HeartlessXiao poker is gambling. It’s just that it has the best odds. You can’t tell me when you go all in with A-A and you flopped a set of aces and then you lose to a flush draw that there’s no gambling involved. At the end of the day you are still relying on a certain amount of chance/luck, hence it’s still gambling.

    I had a friend who was a gambleholic. I say that with a sad heart because it took him down a drark path, and people who dont have it can't or won't understand. Pot heads love weed, heroin addicts need that needle, adrenaline seekers need that rush. Its the same thing with people whom are addicted to gambling. They just cant stop. Even when ahead by a small fortune. After a while it's just not enough, they need more. And I hope people with this disorder. Will find help.
    P. S. Addiction is a disorder not a disease. Both are horrible, but there has to he a distinction. We can talk about that another time.

    Back in the mid to late 90's Charles lived here in Scottsdale Arizona. I happened to see him quite often at the local Indian casinos. His game was blackjack. But even while he was sitting there, fans would come over for an autograph or just a hand shake. He was very cordial and took the time for everyone that came over. He is a really nice guy. He didn't gamble any excessive amount here because no casino could handle the big bets. But it's only a 50 minute flight from Phx to Vegas. I assume that's where he and his posse spent a few days a month.

      Perhaps. But life is all about risk. If you never risk, then you never learn about risk. My gambling has helped me navigate life better, I also do well in the stock market. But I know all the math behind it. Some careless people never learn.

    • @Aristotelezz
      @Aristotelezz 3 года назад +1

      @@RMokrosFor many gamblers the worst thing that can happen is win something. That guarantees to go on gambling. I've seen a few documentaries about gamblers in Las Vegas. The guys that are good at it have studied the subject very much and work very systematic. Most people don't. I once went with some friends to Ladbrokes, gambling on horses, and won right away 50 dollar. During about three weeks, money-wise I run even. Most I lost I won back. I was merely doing cheap and save bets. There was a lot of information available on horses and it’s not so hard to predict horses, that win all the time, to finish in a race in the top three. But you don't make money this way. Better bet on a bad horse that never wins. That gives a very little chance to win off course, but once in a while something absurd can happen. I gave it up after three weeks, gambling is not for me. I've noticed that I became pretty obsessive. Constantly working on ideas and strategies. That could’ve been a sign there’s a problem…

      I kept going back to Casino believing that each visit would improve me as a person (it did,, but at a cost) better at driving, $ budgeting, Time budgeting etc (but eventually that reason of it improving who i am will end)..
      But the worst part about going to Casino slot machine gambling isn't my $5,000 loss within the last 3 months, nor is it the TIME used in gambling that takes away from my never ending list of tv/games/restaurants to do.. It's something like "if i win $100,000 what would i do with that money?" i would use that money to go home and watch TV " ..... If that is the case, then why the fck am i even gambling ? I can go watch TV right now . Why the hell would +$100 on one visit excite me, while being so nihilistic towards losing -$300 on the next visit ?? (translate this mindset to life OUTSIDE of the casino, and holy shit i have been and always will be so nihilistic towards massive losses )

      summary: only few are addicts, while the majority are nihilistic
      from what i've seen at the Casino there are different types of people 1) Senior citizens who has money and has nothing else to spend money on. 2) Misfits who look like smokers/drug users who don't look like they belong anywhere else in public (so where else would they go ???). 3) Young adult groups of friends (that are too lazy or don't have time to go travel to actual far away places) ...
      Honestly i don't think much of them are actually addicted to gambling other than a few.
      What all 3 groups have in common are : I think most of them are just people who have nowhere else to go,, while at the same time being so nihilistic towards expected losses.
      The few that i've seen, that look like drug addicts/homeless/etc..(hogging 2 machines at once, clothes dirty, asking around for money) if they're not physically blessed to be a Sports Athlete, nor are they mentally blessed enough to even be a Doctor ,, how else would they get rich other than to gamble ? Seems like they are just there trying to reach for a little hope, while at the same time be there willingly just to have all their hope taken away (expecting losses). It's like they're there for some sort of self punishment. (these are the only people i've seen who doesn't look nihilistic when losing on gambling (at least on slot machines), they look slightly bitter slightly sad (they don't bother to hide this face being out in public).

    i heard a story about Barkley and Tiger Woods having an argument in Las Vegas over tipping dealers. Charles wanted to tip big and Tiger picked up the tip and wouldn't let him. He basically took the money away from the dealer. I haven't heard good things about Tiger and tipping. Same with Scottie Pippen.

    The thing about gambling is that it changes you. Non gambler who starts gambling will say oh i won 50 bucks im walking. And he will do it. Next time he will try again and again. If he keeps wining next walk will be at 500 at some point. Then 5000. Your 50 bucks or 500 wont be enough for walking. You will want more, because you lost more or simply want more or is not enough. No mat5er how much you win you will put it back for more. People spent money. But then what .. so you take winnings and gamble them for more... later u realise you are down soo much you lost control because your luck will not last long.

    Dealers in Casinos are like Servers at a restaurant, you pay them for their service and entertainment. Their performance will make or break the entertainment value of your trip to a casino. If your motivation is not entertainment you are there for the wrong reason.You should tip them as you play not based on your win/loss necessarily.
    Your tips should be proportional to your average bet.
    Similar to restaurants, generally if you can’t afford to tip, do not go out to eat.

      Jeffrey Lebowski I honestly don’t think Charles ever had any fantasies about beating the casino. Problem gamblers all logically know that theyre in a losing proposition. They just can’t stop.
      They also don’t live in the long run. Gamblers are people that live today. They know that if they keep playing they will lose all of their money. But they don’t care. All they want is to walk out with a big win on that particular day.

    • @gordongordon98
      @gordongordon98 5 лет назад

      StuUngar for many the higher the risk the higher they get, the money is actually secondary

    • @StuUngar
