  • I had the opportunity to work with (and I guess for) Bruce Williams in the early to mid 2000's, as an Operations Manager for the syndicator distributing his show. This was the second to last phase of his long and storied radio career. I will include the readers digest version below, but what I have here is literally his last sign off.
By this point, 2013, Bruce was podcasting, and this program was on what was called the Made In America Network. I clipped all but the final phone caller, so what we have left here is a monologue where Bruce does what he did best...talk. He discusses his nearly 4 decades on talk radio. The influential folks he liked, and did not like, and one final sign off followed by the standard God Bless America closer. Hope you enjoy.

I listened to Bruce from the mid 1980's until the mid 1990's while driving a limo in NYC. When I left that business I didn't have the opportunity to listen to him as he wound down his career. So getting to hear him here on RUclips is a real treat. Rest In Peace Bruce....

4 decades of memorable moments in talk radio history... Bruce Williams was the most prolific radio journalist in America... and the most vigilant of all veteran radio broadcasters who made their mark on the medium.
Thank you, Mr. Williams, on over 4o-+ years of talking to America
      ...one listener at a time.

When I used to live in the USA, I spent a lot of time driving all over that very beautiful country, especially at night. I spent so much time listening to Bruce. I remember the many times losing reception from one radio station, and frantically looking for another station so that I could continue listening to the superb host that he was. A very wise indeed.

Mr. Williams, you will always have a place in my heart. I’m 60 years old now, I used to listen to you when I was a young Mom, in my early 20’s. I’d clean my apartment, and dream of being a financially responsible woman. Everything has changed. The way I have learned to get out of my grief is to look on the past with nostalgia . Thank you for your legacy .🙏

I remember listening to Bruce Williams late at night on KVOR-AM talk radio in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Back then, KVOR was on the 1300 AM dial. One of the BEST memories of my 80s childhood and 90s teenage years. Talk radio isn't as sweet and dignified like it used to be. Today's talk radio is about conservative politics and verbal bodyslamming

Spent countless hours as a young, on the road sales representative listening to Bruce’s show and bouncing around the Midwest in my company-issue Ford Taurus! He always had a way of educating and entertaining at the same time, and certainly made those evening drives from Wichita to Oklahoma City, or Kansas City to Des Moines, or wherever I was heading to that night seem to fly by!
    RIP, sir……..👍

I used to listen to him at night on a pocket radio hanging on the bedpost. ( still have the pocket radio ) I went with some friends to see him give a talk in Cincinnati. ( I think it was the Taft Theater ) I always got a kick when a caller would ask him if they needed a lawyer with the process of selling a house. He would get so mad repeating that advice. RIP Bruce.

Classic radio voice. Strong memories, especially during tough times touring when I really wanted to be home. A stabilizing force, felt "normal" even if my surroundings were foreign. I'd like to think he influenced me as I'm the only one in the band that have owned a home (and not lost it).
Sadly, his family let the business (Jersey Boy Pork Rolls), network and his personal websites all expire. I am so glad this last hour was saved onto RUclips. I was hoping to hear his last week of shows again. I had been doing that once a year. This is the first year after his death.
    Rambling here. Mortality.

I don't get gaga about celebrities but I spent many hours listening to Mr. Williams on tapes I made for my long commutes. He allowed all of us a glimpse into the mind of an ethical businessman. And he helped guide us gently through our financial lives with a clear compass as to when to use a velvet touch and when to kick ass and take names. I only wish I could have told him how much his advice meant to me through the years. Safe travels sir!

I remember on WABC a caller asking Bruce of she should spend money on a Personal Computer for the home. He told her that micro-computers were fine for businesses, but the idea of a PC used by individuals in the home at scale was just a fad-marketing scheme and he couldn’t see it becoming popular because people would never invest in a machine that’s nothing more than a glorified filing system for recipes and phone numbers. OH BOY! :) His words, not mine.

In his later years, Bruce become a shadow of himself. His podcast shows were sad monologues with very little audience interaction. That said, he had a following. And it sucks that in his passing, all media (social, podcast hosting, website, etc.) were erased. It's like he never existed. It's like he was in it for the money when he was alive and couldn't have cared less about leaving a legacy for his followers. That, to me, speaks volumes about his character--or lack thereof.
