I hope you guys enjoyed this video! As I'm a nursing student I use active recall for courses like pathophysiology and pharmacology. It really helps with memorization so please try it out! ❤❤❤
@Janice Study. I was wondering do you create questions for signs and symptoms for each disease? I tried to do that but it’s so much. Thank you for any tips you can give me.
Same. I honestly have no idea how I managed to survive college. I was just there. I attended classes with no real focus, took exams, completed my thesis (we do thesis during college in our country) and kind of like drifted into graduation day.
I absolutely LOVE your videos. I went to a community college my first three years and I’m transferring to a University this semester for Psychology and Substance Abuse and you’ve given me so many good ideas!
Love this video!!!! Thanks for the spreadsheet idea, definitely going to try that out. Flipping flash cards never worked for me because before I quiz myself I need to see and study all the information right in front me!
Janice, you save my life today! Oooooo my God I’m so glad! I tried everything, but use excel save me time and was very very very productive!!!! Thanks for your help!!!!🥰
Really enjoyed this video - I’ve been using your study planner in my own way for my first organic chemistry test coming up this week, but I loved seeing your methods in using it!
Hello, Janice. Thank you for sharing your study routine with us. *I really like your review method in Google Sheets.* _I suddenly missed being a student._ Anyway, I can still do this whenever we prepare for our (hospital) laboratory inspections. I'm not a medical staff, whatsoever, but I'm a Clerk in our Laboratory so I'm surrounded by medical and technical staff. LOL. *_I have most of my personal and professional information on Excel and I love spreadsheets. I'm a tech geek, too - Mac, iPad and Android user and more._* Again, wonderful video. Looking forward to more. Cheers! :)
this is a really awesome video, I learned so much! thank you very much! If you can make another video about "more about Annotating like A&P class- have more contents" really appreciated!!
Nutrition Grad student in my last semester of school...I wish I found this years ago but I'll definitely use this technique for my last 2 months of school and as I study for my national exam to become a Registered Dietitian!! 🤓📚
I seen his video as well! I just didn’t know how to do the question format! I’m not into really using my computer for studying, so I’ll definitely be doing the question recall format thing, but on paper. Especially because writing helps me remember. Great video!
I wanted to say thank you so much for including the usage of "Noisli" I have been looking for so long for some background noise because I get easily distracted with music (due to jamming out too hard) and even lofi beats make me groove LOL! Wonderful video *:・゚✧ sending you much love and peace during your semester(s)
I like to do active recall during lectures so when the professor is teaching I’ll ask why self questions on the topic then after class take notes into the topics I have questions on
After trying lots of solutions I too have realised that Google Sheets is the one for me! To think, it was right there in front of me the whole time!! 🤣
Hi Janice! It's so good to see as you nursing student. Well, i am also medical student, and I want to ask if you do your study repetition, do you make the questions based on lecture presentations or your own notes? And how do you keep focus on study ? Thankyou :)
I'll start at university next week and just found your wonderful chanel! You are the first person to actually make me like this video, subscribe and turn on my notifications haha :D Anyways, thanks a lot for your videos!
Just to clarify your routine, usually you write lecture notes/review notes using the annotated PDF's after you learn a topic in class. Then to study the same material you'll only rewrite more notes on the harder topics and just study the easier topics from the notes you've previously taken? Also, for your active recall spreadsheet when do you go about adding in questions for each unit/chapter you've learned? Do you have one spreadsheet per midterm/test or do you do everything in one spreadsheet for the entire semester so everything is in one place for the final exam?
If you're willing to pay a bit more, ankiapp on macbook and iphone somewhat automates the excel part. Though I can see the hassle of it being a deck of flash cards as opposed to excel. Thank you for reminding me to focus more on active recall.
Here's a tip for you who decide to use Google Sheets! If you want to get a new line in the same Google Sheet cell, then press alt+enter. With this you can list the sentences in the same cell
What a great summary of the Ali Abdaal's videos about those topics. Its just perfect how u applied it to ur study routine (I was struggling with the magic spreadsheet). PD: U r going to get me buy an iPad 2018, it seems good enough for a med student too. No need to buy an iPad Pro. Or what are ur final thoughts about the iPad 6th gen? Keep up the good content! And more iPad and study videos 🙌🏼
Thank you! It's honestly more than I expected. It does everything I need it to and for such a great price too :) Works really well if you already have a main laptop/computer, which is how my setup is!
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been looking up different ways to change up my studying for my intense biology classes. I will definitely try this out!! 😄
I love that Excel idea. I was trying to use Anki but it's a bit complicated. My issue is figuring out what to really focus on when I have so many powerpoints for each class.
What type of desk do you have? And where did you get all of your supplies? I see some listed but not the pusheen and such. Just the keychain. I like the excel method! That seems awesome!
First thank you for this great video , and all these useful revision tips but I still have a question : what do you prefer to consult your textbooks , the iPad or your MacBook air
hey! I'm late for this vid :( i think the spreadsheet idea is awesome and i will use it for the university entrance exam :) but still, i don't know how to study for math and physics tests😭
I always see people skipping through things or writing down notes but do you also actively take time to memorize? Cause that‘s usually the thing I spend the most time on.
I think active recall sounds great, but how do you use it for physical sciences such as chemistry and physics which involves computations and complex ideas that would require a long explanation?
How can you use spaced repetition for a subject that contains lots of topics? I do A levels and all of my subjects are heavily essay based with lots of subtopics and I’m struggling to review them and thus forgetting them. Do you have any tips?
this was so helpful but how long before the test do you start studying? because i never know how far in advance i should start studying for a test and i end up waiting til the day before oof
I never wait to start studying! I review all the content 1-2 days after class and keep updated with everything so I never have to "wait" to start studying because I'm already on it :) ❤
Hi Janice! Could you please tell me what app is on your Mac that is displaying the time and saying good afternoon? I am a new Mac user so I have no idea if it’s something you downloaded or if it’s already part of the computer, but I think it’s pretty neat! I love your videos and I’m about to buy a new iPad to go digital for nursing school that’s starting soon!
It 's not an mac app, it's a chrome new tab extension called Momentom: chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/momentum/laookkfknpbbblfpciffpaejjkokdgca?hl=en
I am always studying to prepare for exams/quizzes even if there aren't any yet so I can keep up and not have to rush and cram everything right before the exam! So yes I am doing this throughout the semester! Thanks :)
Thank you for any tips you can give me.
thank you so damn much

The excel idea sounds amazing!!!! I'll try it , thank youuu
2nd year med student and wish I did this last year! Definitely not fun having some gaps in your knowledge and having to re-open your entire textbook!!
Good luck! I want to be a surgeon.
That spreadsheet idea is awesome! I'm gonna have to do that!!
I’m a pre med student so now I’m going to try the active recall with my studying thank you !
How is it going?
I'm a first-year nursing student and I've been trying to find ways to study more effectively. Your videos are incredibly helpful!
When I saw the thumbnail I was like ALI ABDAAL
it's always really cool to follow other study channels and find them also watching the same person's videos as I do hehehe
This has helped me with my studying greatly! Especially the spreadsheet is a heaven sent idea!
I love that you put so much in a short video thank you so much saving our time
Janice, you save my life today! Oooooo my God I’m so glad! I tried everything, but use excel save me time and was very very very productive!!!! Thanks for your help!!!!🥰
ah thank you so much! you upload on the right time when i’m starting to cry because didn’t know how to study anatomy and too broke to pay quizlet :”)
I highly recommend Ali’s channel and the active recall and spaced reptilian approach to studying.
AHHH!! I am so happy I saw this video the weekend before I start classes, especially as a pre-med student! Thank you so much :)
Thank god i finally found a video about ali's method usage
Really enjoyed this video - I’ve been using your study planner in my own way for my first organic chemistry test coming up this week, but I loved seeing your methods in using it!
I'm glad you've been using it! Thank you so much!
I love the digital planner idea! I uploaded the planner print out into good notes, but how do you put it together?
I really like the active recall spreadsheet. Now part of me wishes that I have more test-based classes this semester. :P
Hello, Janice. Thank you for sharing your study routine with us.

I wish I found this before I took my chem exam 😭 I’m always down to find new ways that can help me study for exams
i actually used that excel sheet method before knowing it was a thing! its such a helpful way to remember information
Hi Janice! Thank you for being kind enough to allow us to download your planner template. I sincerely appreciate it!
Nutrition Grad student in my last semester of school...I wish I found this years ago but I'll definitely use this technique for my last 2 months of school and as I study for my national exam to become a Registered Dietitian!! 🤓📚

Thank you for this video! I am also a nursing student so I'm excited to try this method and see if it helps improve my exam scores :)
Great video. I actually used active recall a lot in med school. A great way to study especially for a visual learner.
That spreadsheet is NEXEL level I will def be using that.
I hear ab active recall and the forgetting curve all the time in AP Psych- my problem is the procrastination 😔
Hey one thing that can help is remember your accountable for you future. That’s what brings me to my senses
Hi, I am from Japan watching your videos. I like your handwriting letters very much. They are so cute!!!
I like to do active recall during lectures so when the professor is teaching I’ll ask why self questions on the topic then after class take notes into the topics I have questions on
After trying lots of solutions I too have realised that Google Sheets is the one for me! To think, it was right there in front of me the whole time!! 🤣
Great tips on remembering the material

your voice is sooo cute and i am going to get an apple pencil and i am going to use your templates too😍
Even I started using Google sheets thanks to that RUclipsr @ali abdaal.
I just have a random old desk. I don't know the brand or anything or where to get it 😂
The birthday hat Pusheen can be found here: amzn.to/2peDjLq ❤
How often do you do this? Like daily or weekly?
Prob daily cause i do 🤷🏻♂️
this was great!
Your voice is soo cuuute :3
😻😻😻
What app are you using for your notes? By the way i love how organized you do it♡
I always see people skipping through things or writing down notes but do you also actively take time to memorize? Cause that‘s usually the thing I spend the most time on.
I think active recall sounds great, but how do you use it for physical sciences such as chemistry and physics which involves computations and complex ideas that would require a long explanation?
OMG the Pusheen is so cute! Where did you get that ?
I have that little time in the day to do all this that the most I can do is do past papers and hope I can survive my 4 year degree :(
very helpful thank you appreciate it!
Hi Janice, what program did you use to view your textbook’s PDF?
Pleas can you make a video soon about how you make you're monthly study planer2and the app that you use and all of that 😊😘😉❤️
How can you use spaced repetition for a subject that contains lots of topics? I do A levels and all of my subjects are heavily essay based with lots of subtopics and I’m struggling to review them and thus forgetting them.
Do you have any tips?
Question: aren’t the notes then made redundant by the spreadsheet? Great video, btw
Spreadsheet is for revising. Notes are for understand.
You can't review what you did not understand.
Is that a 9.7 ipad 2018? I searching for the right size is that one good?
Thank you for thiss!
I knew it was Ali from the start
How do you annotate notes?
How do you know if the questions will be on the exam or not? Do I just read the textbook and write down notes during lectures?
wow thats amazing!thx foe sharing💜btw are u using ipad pro?
Thanks! I use the iPad 2018.
may I know what app are you using for monthly planner and note taking?
this was so helpful but how long before the test do you start studying? because i never know how far in advance i should start studying for a test and i end up waiting til the day before oof
I never wait to start studying! I review all the content 1-2 days after class and keep updated with everything so I never have to "wait" to start studying because I'm already on it :) ❤
Do you prefer this over quizlet?
Watching this it made me want to give Remnote a try again. I thought it'd be hard to learn how to use, but your basically excel like Remnote 🤔
Personally I use this methods with remnote is more simple
Thank you thank you thank you !!!
WHERE IS THE TEMPLATE FOR YOUR STUDY PANNER THAT WAS SHOWN AT THE BEGENING OF THE VIDEO? I CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE.
Hi Janice! Could you please tell me what app is on your Mac that is displaying the time and saying good afternoon? I am a new Mac user so I have no idea if it’s something you downloaded or if it’s already part of the computer, but I think it’s pretty neat! It 's not an mac app, it's a chrome new tab extension called Momentom: chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/momentum/laookkfknpbbblfpciffpaejjkokdgca?hl=en
Do you only do this study routine for midterms/exam or throughout the whole semester? Btw love ur videos they’re suuuper helpful 💕💕
I am always studying to prepare for exams/quizzes even if there aren't any yet so I can keep up and not have to rush and cram everything right before the exam! So yes I am doing this throughout the semester! Thanks :)
Hey! What app did you use for the “to do list”? Nice channel.
thank u for ur video! have u ever tried anki? i'd like to recommend it to u.
Do you have the monthly/study planner template you could share for GoodNotes?
Yes I do! It's in the description box or you can watch this video to see how I use it as well :)
ruclips.net/video/ZWGImY-z8s4/видео.html
What apps do you use for the monthly and study planner?
i miss u so much
Can you go in depth on your monthly planner?
I have a video about the planners I use. :) ruclips.net/video/ZWGImY-z8s4/видео.html
Do you come up with questions while you read through the topics then answer them later, or you come up with them after?
