  • It's July on the farm - and as most of Britain has been searching for air conditioning, the fields have been pining over water, and the animals have been flocking to the shade.
    We hope you enjoy the latest from Sarah and the farm.

    Really enjoying this series. I grew up in rural Bedforshire in the 50‘s and 60‘s but have lived in Germany for many years. The country side, the animals and Sara‘s accent make me feel quite nostalgic.

    • @flankfarm
      @flankfarm  6 лет назад +1

      That's so fun to hear... Hahaha, I can imagine it's even more nostalgic considering the machinery and processes Sarah uses haven't changed since the 60's. Looking forward to showing you August!

    Yes. I always feel sorry for the animals when the flies are all over them. The annoying part of it is, that there’s not a lot you can do..
    I seem to remember using stockholm tar ( not sure if my spelling is correct) , but it’s a sticky black substance which was supposed to keep flies away. I’m sure there must be dozens of local treatments in different parts of the country. The best thing is to pray for cooler weather and some rain.

      @Steve Slade being from England and now living in Aus I can tell you the heat is very different. we have a lot of rain through the year as soon as it gets hot the humidity goes through the roof, its like being in a greenhouse. I've been working here in sand all day in 35degrees and up in the 40's out west on a farm, but back home that will feel hotter again

    Just a quick question from someone who helps sheppard 4000 ewes and lambs (including foot trimming them) what is the point in spraying the foot before foot bathing them? Surely the spray washes off? Or it does in my case, amazing video all same can't wait for the next one!!

    • @flankfarm
      @flankfarm  6 лет назад +2

      Thanks for the comment and the kind works Harry, that's a good question and one that we're certainly not qualified to answer.
      We'll ask Sarah for you when we're next around... though if it's not something you'd do (with your knowledge) - I can only guess it might have been so we (the viewer) could see another way of treating the problem... outside of the footbath. Let us get back to you though.
      P.s. That's an incredible amount of sheep - amazing job. Power to you 💪
