- The goal with this project was to try and bring this aging fox chassis thunderbird and obsolete 2.3L up to snuff in 2023 in hopes to improve power and handling enough to be on par with some of these more modern performance cars. Thanks to Boport and stinger performance for making some quality parts along with everyone who helped online. with over 400whp on tap at 22psi and even more in the high boost setting paired with a nice suspension package from maximum Motorsports I think I’ve done just that. Now with everything buttoned up and most of the bugs worked out here’s a video of engine assembly, walk around + idle video, ride along and some winding mountain roads. #GreatValueSupra #thunderbird #turboCoupe #boost
If you're looking to free up some more power, try converting to electric power steering and use one from a Volvo S40. Your factory high pressure line will fit just fine. I did this on my 88 TC and got rid of the whining factory pump and cleaned up the engine bay. Alternator relocates to where the PS pump use to be. Very nice car and build!
You just use the electric pump unit and keep the original steering rack correct?

Imagine this setup in a 500 lb. lighter Fox Mustang with upgraded suspension and brakes. That would be a beast!
I put one in my 91 Miata, but I keep blowing up differentials. I do have plans for a ford 8.8, but money is tight now, so it will have to wait.

Had an 86 with the SVO front intercooler. Best $1,000 car I ever owned. would love to have another one, esp. after seeing videos like this. Jealous, and I own V8 cars that gulp gas.

Nice work man. Working on my 87 currently. Nowhere near as good looking but I figure if she is ugly on the outside then there's nothing stopping me from doing a nascar look on it when i get it running well.

I’m a huge fan of 2.3 turbos and the fox platform in general. This has to be the nicest turbo coupe I’ve ever seen. By far! That engine looks perfect, that rare as F&@k motorsports valve cover! You’ve got it all man! How much to build me a the same engine?
I appreciate it. And about 15k to build one. These 2.3s ain’t cheap to do right.

I learned to drive stick in one that looked identical. Seemed strong but i was 12. Turbo 4 cylinder..(it was brand new)

@@darandodd12 no I just have a parts list on my phone. It’s pretty simple tho, stock 2.3 block 20 over, cp 10cc dished stock style pistons, Molnar billet hbeam rods, arp main studs and rod bolts, canton road race pan, Melling m86 oil pump, Boport stage 3 CNC head, valve springs and 2.5x cam, Boport stage 4 cnc intake set, upper rotated 90*, 65mm super coupe throttle body, treadstone tr10 intercooler, e85 with gm style flex fuel, 8an feed 6an return, 1600cc injectors, 400lph fuel pump, spec 3+ clutch, pimpX ecu. That’s pretty much it

Stock block, crank, head, and intake. Molnar rods, cp pistons, Boport 2.5x cam, big valves, ported intake with super coupe throttle body, Treadstone 1035 intercooler, Boport header, 3in exhaust, precision 6062 turbo, ms3 PimpX, flex fuel,1600cc injector, DW 400 in take pump, 8an feed. spec 3+ clutch and aluminum flywheel.
