With your video I could start the car and with minimal steering ability and many times forward and backward driving I manage to drive it into to the warm service place :)
@@Dashikardashian it is repaired. The small 12V motor for steering wheel locking was replaced by a repair shop for car electronics. I did only remove the parts from the car with help from some RUclips videos on that topic.
Thank you so much… I followed your steps in the video and it worked and start but the steering didn’t unlock after letting the engine get warm up I turn off the engine, cover the relay ( green ) fuse and then wait for some few minutes… Insert the key back to and turn it to ignition mode, the dash board lights come up and also start with the key and the steering got unlocked
Worked perfect. Used this process to start my 2012 C300 Mercedes and load it on a trailer. Steering wheel was still locked, but was able to load my car.

☺️ i am not a genious.. this will work for ever if your keys re recognized by the system. Well if the problem is the motor then i guess you can do it your self but if it is the circuit board then i guess u have to get it fixed asap.

Awesome work around if you don't want to pay for a tow truck to get to the shop, or repaired it yourself if you can. I got stuck with mine, luck is that I have 3 free towing services a year with my insurance. This also leaves the system vulnerable to car theft as the ESL is a theft deterrent.

This was an amazing workaround and helped me verify that the steering lock was actually the problem. Mine is stuck in the unlocked position, luckily. But, even though the car started, I am still stuck in park. Could the steering lock be refusing to allow a signal to the shift lock? Oh, and THANK YOU!!!
In my case, the motor of the esl overheated and damaged the circuit board. Luckily the steering got unlocked some how..that was the main reason of the problem with my car
Thank you. Hoping this works on my old C220 diesel. Just occasionally, and mostly when cold, I turn the key and though everything lights up ok, the starter doesn't spin. If I'm patient and keep trying it after a few minutes it'll start and it's generally OK for the rest of the day. Getting more frequent though. Thanks again.

I work on a lot of mercedes sprinter van cdi vehicles, this is a cool trick, I was considering trying this as I regularly ping that starter solenoid relay in order to diagnose a no start issue, I am curious what the 7.5 amp fuse is for? is it EIS fuse? or ESL fuse? can anyone clear that up for me?

hello, tried today it worked with the same procedure without risking damaging the relay by removing the plastic cover. Remove the relay. Locate the 2 terminals of the open contact. Shunting with a wire closes the contact and starts the starter (instead of manually operating the relay without the cover). The engine is running. Reconnect the relay.
And if it is then what would you suggest... My instrumentation and lights light like normal ..the starter simply does not engage on cold days...in the forums they mention a k50 relay on some models that is notorious for bad solder joints but i do not have that relay / distribution block on my 2010 GL... This has immobilized my gl450 on every cold day below 30 or so degrees for the past 3 years..... allot of days in Chicago

Was wondering if this will continue to work after the eis is completely non function? Or will it harm anything? Seems like it should not as you are forcing the starter the same way the key would.
I followed the instructions exactly as they are here. i hear the clicking noise when i put in the fuse but when i press on the relay the engine does not start.... also, my key does not work to lock or unlock. would this work with a faulty key? i am suspecting that is my issue now and not the ESL/EIS

After having the battery removed for hours and then reconnecting to try to solve an issue i now get a error message (EZS- electronic ignition lock) which stops my car from trying to start the engine and windows from opening or closing. Hello everyone, i have mercedes w204 2011, 1.8cdi. The problem is when i turn my key in ignition lock, all lamps go on but IT will not start, i changed 2 ignition locks and the same problem. The car will start only when its cold outside, when the car is outside on the sun and when its Hot it will not start. Has somebody the same problem or has any ideal what can it be???

First time it worked perfect. But second time only cranking, engine did not start. But being frankly it cranks a bit slowlier, so could be also a weak battery. If not, then be aware, this process could be also harmful.
@@harritls7155 . if the motor fails, then it'll remain in locked position and then there's no other option but to tow it to the workshop on a towing bed.
I tried this on my s55 amg and it did start the car without a problem. But car will not go into any gear And car won’t start at all without me doing this.
You have no other choice than taking the whole system out and cut the bolt out. If your handy enough you can replace the motor inside the esl. Hope the elcteonc is not damaged like in my case
The reason you changed the relay for? This video is not about the relay it is about your eis esl system. You should maybe get your battery's and so..it took me few weeks to find out the problem. I started by changing the main battery then the secondary battery and so and so and then finally found out about this eis esl problem
I did everything you suggested but when I pressed the relay button the car won't start. All the ignition lights all came on but won't start. Any ideas?

The brown fuse is #27, for the CDI it is the ignition lock control fuse.

Its a dangerous manual for merci. It could make electrical problem such as ecu, bcm etc so it should be not recommended and also it is now working.
So after it gets started and I drive home what do I tell the mechanic to do to fix this problem so I won’t have to do it like this again thanks

Be careful, although I start the car, the second time did not start only crank, so probably it destroyed something in ECU

Get your ecu checked it should be faulty
I heard that this trick only works for some models only, W204 C-class up to 2012, if your car is 2015 that might be the reasson it didn't work.

I have similar problem. Hope we come up with something. I have a manual, so I bump start it. Thought of running button from ststter to battery.

If your stearing remains locked, yous have no choice you have to see a mechanic or take it out by your self and get it repaired.

@@harritls7155 . if the motor fails, then it'll remain in locked position and then there's no other option but to tow it to the workshop on a towing bed.
It turns everything on but it won’t crank
I tried this on my s55 amg and it did start the car without a problem. But car will not go into any gear And car won’t start at all without me doing this.

You have no other choice than taking the whole system out and cut the bolt out. If your handy enough you can replace the motor inside the esl. Hope the elcteonc is not damaged like in my case
I changed the relay and it doesn't start with new relay
The reason you changed the relay for? This video is not about the relay it is about your eis esl system. You should maybe get your battery's and so..it took me few weeks to find out the problem. I started by changing the main battery then the secondary battery and so and so and then finally found out about this eis esl problem

Hi, you need to scan and see what s wrong then. Maybe your problem is somewhere else. If the cause is EIS OR ELS then this method should work

I did everything you suggested but when I pressed the relay button the car won't start. All the ignition lights all came on but won't start. Any ideas?
Sorry for the delay. It should start if you did exactly what I am showing if it doesn't then your problem is coming from somewhere else

@@thvmcs if you pull the EIS and ESL out, you could find a guy who know auto electronics and solve the problem, if you are in Canada I might help you haha🤣

Don't do this.!!!! Your car can lose power while driving.!! Your car can lose steering directions also and you can have a crash.
