I am glad to see an episode focus on Purple Queen--I really like them! I am glad this series showed up in my suggestions. I am an idol fan and glad to see an Korean idol anime.

Ummm, correct me if I'm wrong, but the message of this episode is kinda wonky to me. I know the message is "just because i like this thing doesn't mean i'm not acting girl/a girl" which is valid and all, but the episode kinda just uses it as an excuse for it's plot. Not all auditions/challenges are for everyone, as Dolls put it, and the show constantly makes it very clear of how different each unit's images are to one another (Melody is a mix, Dolls is elegant, Macarons is cute and Purple Queen is cool and mature). Dang it, their coord shoes are literally described as "edgy". You can't just force a unit out of their boundaries so quickly because they have to adjust away from their normal image, and tbh i can completely understand why PQ has such a hard time because 'cute' and 'cool' are usually in the opposite style spectrum. The episode doesn't even really give a satisfying explanation. The designer was all like "oh i thought girls were supposed to be cute but you guys showed me they can be cool too" which I don't buy because the dude doesn't have any real reason to change his ideal image for a brand for such a mundane reason. Instead of making the girls adapt to the image of the brand, he adjusts for them which wouldn't be so bad if it didn't throw away the concept of a "pink girl" (pink, associated with soft color and personality) entirely. Yeah I'm definitely just looking at this episode on a surface level rather than seeing it's positive image so I'm kinda making a fool of myself by being bothered by this aspect of the episode by ya know, that's just how I feel about it.
Master Hands Moral of the story is to be yourself and not fit the mold. Mr. Designer thinks that girls all need to be cute and elegant, but Purple Queen showed him that he was wrong and that girls can be so much more than a pretty face.
This is not anime. You can't expect a great reasoning in this one as it is made by a small group of people. As Nana Miles commented, here is not the concept of them fitting the pink girls and adapting to it but the contrary. When you're seeing a rehearsal and watching the actual show are 2 things different. So the, the Designer might have seen that as a girl, you can also be fierce while being elegant if you put it in the concept of pink girls. Pink Girls is also only a brand name, in no case did they say that pink girls needs to be pink. Just look at BlackPink, their songs are nowhere near pink even if their videos are This is simply, be yourself, don't change according to the norms, don't be stereotypical and also don't feel depressed about being different
13 minutes in and I can already tell this episode is veering off topic from an already established truth. Beauty is internal. Healthy. Happy. Strong. Girly is subjective based on cultural norms and personal experiences, but girly does not make you more or less of a girl. You were born with that dna, regardless of your personal aura.
