i am building a truck, not a stupid car. you can't put two bikes into a car with all your gear and haulass to the track.

EVERYONE HAS LOST THEIR MINDS GOING TO CROWN VIC change overs I'm with you straight axle is the best,i assume you're using the b engine mopar for another swap as it is a better engine than the Cleveland ford, wrenching is wrenching bike or 58 f100 enjoy tatro

Tatro, I see that you call the pin that secures the nut on a ball joint a "cotter key". What then do you call the bolt with the tapered side that holds on the crank on old school bicycles that has a nut that pulls the taper tight ?
I know them as cotter pins but correctly they are simply cotters. I call the others split pins as they split and secure in the castle nut from winding off if it were to come loose.
Also to get off tapered ball joints I use a heavy hammer as a dolly on the eye of the link and bash the other side and the shock always loosens the taper. Early days used to bash on the bolt with the nut on , mash up the bolt so then the nut wouldnt come off but the balljoint was off the taper so you couldnt get the nut off. Would then have to remove whole stub axle and get another one off a wreck. There was an area near where I grew up where old cars were always dumped Saturday night so Sunday morning early would go out with a parts list of what I needed. Spark plugs, leads ,door winders pedal rubbers etc.All good fun in the day.

Keep it ford.it is kind of rare to find a step side. I had a 67 Chevy step side. Not many out there now.
