This song is about a murderer who lets his lover take the fall for his crimes, and she gets hung at the gallows.
First part might mean that his problems are sinking, like his ancient lover, ancient because she is dead and her ghost haunts him.
The paper thin girls could be the spectators for the hanging, and the stones floating is a metaphor. Stones don't float, it is impossible for them to float, and like the woman being hung, it is impossible for her to be the murderer.
Down the burning ropes could be the noose that is going to hang the woman. When they bury her she is in a grave, and her "bed" is buried under the moonlight.
So now that she is killed, she is innocent so rather than go to hell the Lord is trying to bring her to heaven but the spectators believe she is guilty so they want her to go to hell, and now she's overboard with the accusations of this crime.
So now the village where he lives is full of heartache and the aftermath of this woman's death. Gossip goes on in the village.
People were gossiping about how people get reckless with their crimes, and he reminisces on how he became reckless with his murders and she came in and witnessed the killing. He realizes that his lover knows that he is a murderer.

I love song, my favourite of the album. Simple tune with real sinister lyrics. It has a great dark feel to it. Put headphones on, shut your eyes and create some pictures in your head.

I love the lyrics and the progessional sound throughout the song. I believe the song is about cheating and attempting to stop but realizing that is can get beyond control.

This songs good but I read it was about a murderer
questions i thought morrison was torturing supershock all theses years was i wrong? did christian just realize that he was so mentally unstable that this was the only way to stop him. appealing to supershocks paranoia that morrison is causing everything did christian sacrifice himself to save the world? and is he ascending to becoming a god the ending blew me away and it seems almost like the bible. he commited the ultimate righteous sacrifice and was chosen to be given another chance. the world needs diamond
In both the comics and here you see Supershock, a hero that is old and apparently ageless slowly fall to dementia. More correctly, you finally see what was true this whole time. In the comics, Deena convinced another superhero to stop Supershock (which she does just after Deena's heart was torn from her chest). In this one, since the superhero that stopped Supershock in the comics hadn't been introduced, Christian walker played into Supershocks's dementia and convinced him to kill himself and his arch nemesis. The light at the end looks like the beginning of a new plotline that is also from the comics. I won't spoil it here though.
