God, I remember during seungyoon’s reign as king it seemed like he would never be beaten! When he was finally revealed it was hilarious that he said something like “well I came here to promote winner’s song but now that was months ago” 😄

Seungyoon's Masked Singer reign was like a revolution for that show. Every cover was incredible and he just kept winning. It was funny how so many people knew it was him too like his voice is unmistakable. I was a casual fan of WINNER but his masked singer performances got me hooked and I've been a full fan ever since
I don't even like kpop..but I heard Seungyoon singing Family Portrait..it was like an arrow shot straight to my heart..it ws so sad..I cried & I became a die hard fan ever since..it was so iconic..

Jo Yoonbal (Kang Seungyoon) was so loved in Masked Singer that even though everyone pretty much recognized him as soon as he sang, the TV audiences look forward every week just to see what he is gonna perform next. And please don't believe WINNER doing random karaoke it is just they don't take it seriously (LOL), but it is different when it's a real performance. Also, Kang Seungyoon before he signed in YG became popular after joining a singing competition the Superstar K Season 2. He was in the same season as Huh Gak, John Park, and Jang Jaein. He came in fourth place. He won two ROTY one as a solo before he became a trainee and another after debuting with WINNER.
Seungyoon was incredible. Everyone went crazy over his covers. You should check it out I think you will love it.

@@2bpresh935 seungyoon and kyuhyun are yg and sm's pride. both were strong vocalist. it's not just about belting the correct notes, it's also how you convey the message of the song with mask on. their covers are so beautiful i use these two's KOMS compilation as playlist lol.
try listening to seungyoon too. he's underrated internationally but korea recognizes him as a national treasure singer. won 6 times, and almost won 7th time, it's a close fight, too bad.

You should really check out Seungyoon's performance in KOMS. You will know why even legendary vocalists in Korea do collab with him and praised him. Their songs in Winner don't give justice to what great his vocals are. His perf.of FAMILY PORTRAIT, DRIFTING APART and TWENTY FIVE TWENTY ONE are the best for me. I hope you could react to it :)
FunFact: Kang Seungyoon's time in KOMS brought back the double digit TV ratings of KOMS that they never achieve for like years already. Also, he just went there just to promote their album REMEMBER but he never thought that he would win. So, he promoted the album after 3 months of its released. Lol. He spent his reigning time for 3 months.

He can move emotions and win you over. I think he more of gave up on the winning streak after the 7th week due to conflicting schedules as Winner just release REMEMBER Album that time plus his drama (KAIROS)(that’s just my opinion ✌🏼)

Seungyoon won six times and his performances are amazing. He has such a wide range. Sometimes because the type of songs he does with WINNER you forget but he has an extraordinary voice. Btw I think D.O. is too shy to do King of the masked singer and also his tone is so distinct he would probably get recognized too quickly.

Super Junior Kyuhyun as Genie was the first male idol to become King of Masked Singer after he was discharge from military in 2019..he won 5 consecutive...then came after Winner's Seungyoon. Also, all Elf's were able to recognized his voice at once same with Ryewook and Yesung.
Omg seungyoon was probably the only singer on that show that I was able to recognize from the beginning. You guys should watch all his performance. There's a compilation somewhere on RUclips. So worth it. Hehe. At one point, he went against Michael K. Lee, a Broadway actor, Lea Salongas ex. Hahaha. That episode was nuts, both of them was amazing. You guys would love it.
This video must be from before Yoseob from Highlight/Beast appeared because he won 8 times I believe and is tied for 2nd for the whole show but Seungyoon's voice is out of this world which is why I wish that I liked Winner's music more! Also, I really want Hweseung to appear again because I think his vocals have improved even since his last appearance!

Yeah Kang Seung Yoon’s reign was very memorable because it was literally at the start of the pandemic. Everybody was at the point of lockdown and was stuck at home. Initially, Yoon participated in KOMS to promote for WINNER’s comeback for “REMEMBER” and he didn’t expect to get passed the 1st round (he went on KOMS back in 2017 and was eliminated in the first round). Then when he advanced to the 2nd round, he still didn’t think he would beat the QUEEN at that time either. Then that 3rd round performance.. MAN…emotional…he made the audience and the celebrity panel cry. He deservingly became KING and really have such heartwarming, emotional, sentimental, and uplifting performances. Every performance was an emotional rollercoaster and his vocal range is insane.. his falsettos and head voice is so flawless and mind you he’s a baritone vocalist..he has this husky lower tone too. However, I feel that he’s severely underrated when it comes to best vocals. But you should definitely check out more of WINNER’s music especially Yoon’s recent solo releases like “IYAH” and his latest solo digital release “BORN TO LOVE YOU”.
Of course there Hyunwoo who is the legit KING who won 9 freaking times! His stages are also legendary, but it is expected from a legendary vocalist of a band!
Yoseob from HIGHLIGHT who is now the 2nd king/male idols with 8 wins is also an amazing vocalist! But that means Kang Seung Yoon is now 3rd in king/male idols with most wins, he won 6 times. It’s still a freaking accomplishment! Imagine being the 1st YG artist to become KING of KING OF MASKED SINGER and having an incredible reign winning 6 times while promoting WINNER’s comeback as well as preparing for his comeback as an actor on the fantasy drama KAIROS? I will always be amazed by Kang Seung Yoon’s passion, determination, open-mindednesses, humbleness, and always wanting to improve as an artist, hobby, sport, or interests. This is upon being super TALENTED! Artists like that will always have a long career tbh.
Since the video release there have been a few new Kings/Queens including Yang Yeosob from Highlight (8 wins/73% votes) who is a fantastic singer. He conveys so much emotion through his voice. The panel cried two or three times during his reign 🥺 you should really check him out!

Queen SOLJI! She was the first masked king in the ep pilot. The day she returned after her hiatus I was so happy. She demostrated why she was the first winner of the show & that she didn't want let go of that stage cause girl went and won 5 times more 😄 . Her cover of "In a dream by Lena Park" still gives me goosebumps, even if you don't speak korean you can feel the torment in her voices, like she's really being hunted. I remember one of the judges said that he wasn't going to watch it when it airs because tv post-production can't replicate what happened there

What makes Kang Seungyoon unique is not only the color of his voice, which is different from other singers, but he has a soul in every song he sings, especially ballads, whether they are mixed with pop genres or even rock. If you're looking for a singer who can hit high notes, Seungyoon can do that as well, but what I've always liked about him when he sings is how he conveys his emotions to the listeners. Kang Seungyoon is great at conveying the message and emotion of a song, and I always feel mixed emotions when I hear him sing, especially during his performances on Masked Singer. You should try to see all of the performances so you can get a sense of what I'm saying right now. Seungyoon is rarely mentioned when someone compiles a list of idol singers, but he truly deserves to be at the top, he even frequently performs alongside South Korean legends, and I'm very proud of him. I just hope that YG gives him the freedom to make music, this person is incredibly talented, and I want him to be able to make music at any time and in any genre, though I still think slowrock is the best genre for him.
Doyoung really adds his own distinct colour to everything he does .He really adds something special.
If I remember correctly, Yoseob won 8 times and that makes him the best idol singer in that competition. He's seriously underrated esp among 3rd and 4th gen fans.

While there is no denying that Yoseob is great, to claim that he is the best idol there is in the competition, is an overstatement. One needs to consider the competitors. The idols that came from the early years of the show had to compete with the likes of Seohyang, Son Seung Yoon, Ha Hyun Woo etc. Kim JAE Hwan, Eunkwang, Ryeowook, Yesung, Seungkwan, DK, etc. would have been kings and defend it well if they joined later in the competition. But as an idol, Yoseob did pretty well in the competition.

If they like it, it means that the singer has a great voice according to them, the competitors are the factors? Ask the show why the competitors are not worth it. many idol groups and singers who say their voices are good compete up to 2 times, but don't get maximum results? i dont need to tell that name, just accept all this. all of them who can win a lot like seungyoon, kyuhyun and yoseob and others singer means that they are really a good singers, not just what people say "his/her a great singers" great singers must be proven not just talk. you don't need to argue with people's opinions, just support your favorite singer or idols.
Kyuhyun is definitely the best idol vocalist. Above yoseob there is 6-7 more idol singers too

Actually my favorite masked singer is Ha Hyun Woo who is the vocal from a rock band. He showed up a little bit when the video introduces the rules. His performance of "Lazenca Save Us" is still the best performance of this show.

SeungYoon’s kingdom in MASKED SINGER was absolutely the best, the cover songs he presented were one more amazing than the other. I LOVE his ‘25,21’, ‘drifting apart’ and ‘blue whale’ the most.
Regarding recognizing voices, yes I could recognize but only YGE’s artists. Their tones of voices are so unique in the industry.
Ps I love the Korean’s costumes and masks they chose cuz I’ve seen the western versions (Italy or USA’s) and they’re so out of creativity and really ugly.

I would like to point out that for a lot of these idols(especially gen 1&2) it was incredibly important to rank as high as they did because they rarely if ever got the credit they deserved as artists. In the k industry idols were and to some extent still are not considered real artists with credible skill. It’s definitely changing now especially with the popularity of groups like BTS and EXO being as global as they are.
So sad they didnt add seungkwan's performance it was so beautiful, you guys should check it out its called "forsake" and its amazing, one of his best performances ever!!

You should checkout EXID solji stages. She is absolute queen. And EXID was the first kpop group whose all members participated in this program. Solji was the very first winner of KOMS i.e. pilot episode and because her performances were loved so much, the show became a regular and still going strong. After that, she went on 2 year hiatus because of her diseases. When she recovered, she made a comeback through KOMS by participating again as a contestant. She won 5 times again continuously- first and only player to win twice in KOMS and first idol to win 6 titles. Her performance of 'Dream lover', 'The reason I became a singer' and 'Please' are my favorite.
