Thank you Sophia. I messaged you on Instagram a few years ago saying that I would start reading the Bible and I’m a little embarrassed to say that I started reading the Bible until this year. I wish I would’ve started reading the Bible earlier but the important thing is that I started reading it. You were the first to inspire me to read the Bible and you always inspire me with your words. I am grateful to say that my faith is stronger than ever and I recognize Jesus as my Savior❤
i grew up in a church that hurt me. i spent 18 years in a church whose teachings did nothing but make me feel worthless, less than, dirty - even though i knew deep down that i was saved and that because of jesus, i have been made clean. so, when i left for college, i decided to make my faith my own. the only reason i made it through that first year - one filled with depression, anxiety, grief, fear, homesickness, pain - was because of my faith in jesus. i've spent the last 2 1/2 years in a church that no longer makes me focus on my brokenness, or uncleanliness. i dreaded sunday every week for 18 years - now, at 27, church is one of the highlights of my week. i sing in the choir. i go on young adult outings. i am friends with my pastors. i am once again in a very difficult year, as i struggle mentally, financially, physically, relationally. and god continues to show up, just as he always has. my faith journey does not look the same as yours, my faith practice does not look the same as yours, my church does not look the same as yours. but our jesus is the same, our god is the same - and that's the beauty.
Sophia, thank you for being so bold and so brave to share your faith with others. This isn't always easy to do. I've learned over the years that we don't all have to agree with one another explicitly in order to walk in God's grace and light. I hope you are met with respect and kindness for opening your heart and baring your beautiful soul. 🙏💞
This video was so touching and inspiring to me. I sat here and watched the whole thing and your story never fails to amaze me. It really hit me towards the end when you said “even if you are a believer, and you’re feeling discouraged by the world, or falling into sin, just know Jesus is here to set you free” Lately I feel like I have been discouraged to pursue the Lord in many ways. But hearing the way you talk about Him and share your walk with the Lord, it made me realize that He is here and He does love us all, and that alone is an indescribable feeling that only comes from the Lord. I’m a Christian- but I’m experiencing loss and have had 7 years of awful. Death. Illness. Isolation. I’ve been back into new age and took it to a new level today. I used to do anti new age content - but here I am practicing it. 😞

Exactly. And she completely dismissed the fact that not all Christians even believe in being that black and white or in h**l being a literal place. In fact there’s even biblical evidence to support that it’s not. It’s so unbelievably hypocritical when fundies make statements like this in this tone well stating their personal beliefs as facts we’ll condemning all others. It’s pure willful ignorance and arrogance. I’m so sorry that this girl and so many other people were indoctrinated into this harmful mindset as children by those they were supposed to be able to trust. But as a grown adult it’s her responsibility now to educate herself outside of her religious sphere and use critically thinking to see the facts and what is unknowable for what they truly are. And it is her responsibility to stop perpetuating these baseless and harmful ideologies and to stop trying to fear monger people into her religion and into fundamentalism. It is inexcusable and shameful.

This is her platform. If you there was two doors, one door that you were certain- that you believed led to destruction, a door that when you opened it would have an army with guns drawn at you. If somebody you knew was trying to walk through that door- because they believed it was filled with cotton candy and awesome things.
