The skies above have darkened, the stars have aligned We're witness to a rite of black magic design Master of witches, king of the chaos sphere Pastoral God whose altar burns with pagan fear The great God pan born behind the stars The ancients live again Song of the woodlands, pan pipes are crying reeds His maddened tune will lift the autumn leaves We see the horned one, we see his shape assume The form of laughing wines and sandalwood fumes
This is how was initially conceived doom metal: a balanced mix of psychedelic rock, prog rock and heavy metal played upon dissonant melodies... Blood Ceremony along Witchcraft are two of the best bands out there in playing this 70s retro style imo...
@@shrediknight4738 Sure I will pal, thank you for your suggestion... During fall and winter I'm full immersed in the listening of my personal doom metal records collection, but any other good new stuff is always welcome. Recently I've been much into Northwinds, a french band playing doom mixed with prog-rock and folk, not much different from Blood Ceremony imo... Greetings from Austrian Alps!
Actually i am thrilled of it too, great keyboard, great riffs. When i first listened, It felt like "holy crap, shut up and listen", something coming big moment for me.
We know what happened to those who chanced to meet the Great God Pan, and those who are wise know that all symbols are symbols of something, not of nothing. It was, indeed, an exquisite symbol beneath which men long ago veiled their knowledge of the most awful, most secret forces which lie at the heart of all things; forces before which the souls of men must wither and die and blacken, as their bodies blacken under the electric current. Such forces cannot be named, cannot be spoken, cannot be imagined except under a veil and a symbol, a symbol to the most of us appearing a quaint, poetic fancy, to some a foolish tale. But you and I, at all events, have known something of the terror that may dwell in the secret place of life, manifested under human flesh; that which is without form taking to itself a form. Arthur Machen, The Great God Pan
So the singer for this band plays the flute on half their songs, but in their song about Pan, who is famously associated with flutes and has a kind of flute named after him, she plays the organ?
3:17 - 7:09 gawd the breakdown was straight up masterclass lesson on musicianship

@@italo-disco.80s I would also recommend Frayle. More sludgey than the other bands, but definitely witchy doom.
Never get tired of that riff at 4:00

The other night I had some wine and put this album on, kind of realized I also need to get it on disc.

Im not that into uncle acid, since most of their sound is exactly the same, but I would recommend ruby the hatchet.

Love that crunchy electric organ.
Very underated band with a fantastic album?
one of the bands that would make great covers of Coven IMO
I think Jinx would love that!
I’m still hoping that they’ll one day make a cover of The White Witch of Rosehall

An organ is a large pan flute with keys (yes, I'm sure she's playing an electronic version, but still).
He actually plays the syrinx
That's because nature and the pagan gods rule :)
