Excellent as ever Piet, loved the close up shot of the Telemeter. I can't believe how old those 6Es are and yet they're still running to this day. The newer class of locomotives will definitely not last as long as these old timers
The narrow gauge operations of the railroads of South Africa are impressive. The maintenance of the rights of way are also a big job to do. I rode in 1983 from Capetown to Praetoria. Great passenger accommodations and excellent service and food.
Thank you for commenting. 1983 is a long way back - the railroads were in a better condition then, but sending freigth by road was a game changer for the railways and it started to lose customers
South Africa 🇿🇦 Narrow Gauge Railroad Operations are awesome With Cool looking GE and Electric Locomotives And I think the South African Red Devil Steam Locomotive is still Running Awesome RUclips Video of the South African Railroad Operations 😁😁😁😁🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 I wish South Africa And the United States had relations together but we don't which is sad 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Great videos! Keep them coming. I'm sure theres a really simple obvious answer to this...but why do some of the carriages have 3 yellow circles on the corners? Always wondered but maybe too embarrassed to ask 🙈
@@RAILFANinSOUTHAFRICA ahhhhhh! At last I can rest my mind now! Haha. Thank you Piet. Really enjoy your videos. Reminds me of traveling on the old transkarroo with my parents! I even have the original lima scale versions in a glass cabinet above my layout👍🏻

Yes, it is very old!!!
@@RAILFANinSOUTHAFRICA are railways in all SA have electrified?
@@karyanusa2403 No, not at all! Most branch lines are using diesel powered locomotives, but main lines are electrified.
