Miranda is awesome! She was on her best behavior, she didn't burp once;-)
😂 ill get her to burp in our next episode!
i always liked her stuff because it feels like actually hiking with my friends, like we stop and look at the cool trees and bugs and stuff, not just out there to like grind miles and whatever. the best part of going into nature is enjoying the nature, the rest is like secondary to me and makes the nature enjoying possible.
..Why Miranda ?? Because she has a wonderful personality ,, doesn't come across as a hiking or gear snob .. greatly enjoy , past video's as well as the new series ... she's not a blown ego ultra lighter that pushes the un-prepared hiker in my opinion , coming from a Boy Scout background in backpacking and outdoor activities with ,,"Be Prepared" as the motto ,, will never be an ultra light or even a lighweight hiker but have what you need for any/all conditions .. Of course not a long distance hiker but more of a backcountry camper that has to backpack to get where I want to go. , usually an alpine lake to fish and not be without items needed ... and not suffer to bushcraft to survive ..
.. Best guest ever !! .....
Nice interview! I've watched a lot of Miranda's videos, and never really heard her origin story, so thanks for asking those questions, Kyle
Thanks for putting this on RUclips. I don't follow podcasts. So this was a nice series to find.
Stay tuned cause soon they will start being video podcasts!
Miranda: Critiqued as “obnoxiously self-confident.”
Love how she turns the negative into positive and blasts it all over her channel. 👏👍
Definitely need more people like her in this world!
I didn’t grow up camping. In fact, long nature walks with the family (usually on boiling hot days with too many flies) put me off! But, I actually bought a billy can with my first ever pay check. For some reason I was drawn to outdoor stores and the notion of camping. It was a blessing when I met my future husband because he liked camping too. He took me on my first overnight hike and carried the majority of the gear. I still enjoy being a gear nerd and I try to get out camping and hiking when I can. My kids both hate camping and hiking. 🙈😱🤯 I hope that changes as they grow up. But almost 30 years later, I love the adventure and the stillness of making my coffee by the fire before anyone else is up! Love both your channels btw! Thanks so much for all your stories and your personalities and the gear reviews.
People connected with it because Miranda is a dork who loves what she does and it comes through in the videos.
this is my show gosh darn it! - Miranda
the most amazing thing about her story ( I think) is that the entire journey was without parameters or rules to follow. at least it sounded like, hey maybe this, lets try it... to me that is incredible. shows what you can possibly do when you venture outside a comfort zone.
I think the playful tone of Miranda’s videos is what draws people to watch. It’s not serious or overly technical, like you said, but playful. People want to play, especially when they are stressed. It calms us all! 😊
MIRANDA IS SO SO GREAT! TY Kyle for this!❤
That was so neat to listen to. Rad to learn stuff about you both.
Loved this one, two of my favorites together in the same place! Noice!
Glad you enjoyed it! I'll have her on again soon
As someone with adhd and maybe autism, that kid asking about the cuben fiber was neurodivergent for sure.
Miranda is awesome!
My first backpack my pack was so heavy I couldn’t feel my legs when I took my pack off.
it happens haha
Miranda is relatable and likable.
I mean this as respectfully as possible, Miranda is my dream bae hahaha. But seriously, The whole concept of making videos from the audiences perspective is great for you tube film making. We all learn best from experience and watching somebody else get that experience is super relatable not to mention helpful. I can see why those videos were such a success
Not so long ago, through hiking meant NOT taking days in town or grabbing a hitch. And a twisted ankle meant "stay here, I should make it tio a ranger station early tomorrow." And you'd better know how to fashion a litter, because carrying one downhill and back to the trailhead was the only help you had.
Cell phones? GPS? That was all science fiction! Big big difference when you can push a button and wait only an hour or two for medevac. BIG difference.
If making it easier means more people go out and enjoy the outdoors, that's a good thing.
Great podcast and love this episode !!!!
I had hiked and backpacked as a kid in Oregon but moved to the big city in So Cal in the early '90s and was poor so didn't go anymore. Fast forward the Lone Star Trail Texas 2020. My bestie and I decide to we want to hike in and camp. I had my 45 ltr back pack that wasn't for back packing, the straps were way too long on my Hobbit torso and needless to say, 16 miles in, i couldn't walk any farther. It felt like my shoulders and back were on fire. I hadn't hiked in over a decade and in my late 30s. Do not recommend !
You can hike the AT.
Or the Applatchin Trail.
Or the Appalachian Trail.
Ask Rod Serling to explain the difference.
I love how much her pack evolved after leaving REI and trying some cottage gear
Damn didnt know she went to VCU until I just googled it!
Good lord dude!! You were drooling…. Just a bit!!😁
I’m late to the party, but someone said that Miranda is ugly??? WTAF? She’s so adorable!! She’s got the prettiest smile! She’s got the best personality & I would absolutely love to be her friend IRL!
Annnndddd did Kyle say he was fan-boying on Miranda? 😂
*snort* It's often older unattractive men who comment negatively on women's looks. My theory is that they spend so much time whacking off to filtered and surgically enhanced women online (because they can't get a woman in real life), that average attractive women appear 'ugly' to them.
I cant find this on apple podcast or Spotify
It's there! I have links in the description
What is the timestamp for when Miranda explains why she quit REI?
32:02
I love you both ✊😍
Like your youtube channel. Like this podcast. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Weird, Miranda, as I am from VA as well (Tidal) and it is ALWAYS Appa-lay-shin. ALWAYS.
Nice interview! I really enjoyed it.
Nah, it isn’t always that. Many old timers say it the other way around
@@thisbeem2714 I'd likely be one of those 'old timers' you're talking about. I'm saying it correctly per the original dialect. Know what that is?
@@dangerpudge1922 I do not! Please enlighten me. I would love to know.
Miranda seems down to Earth. The host seems low keep jealous. How many times does he need to mention that he doesn't listen to her RUclips. And making a big point that she reached out to him first.
I hate when Im late...
I like how Miranda's mum asked but why you 😂 has she not met her own daughter ?
Jokes aside ive not actually seen much of her content yet but ive seen enough to know shes a instantly likable person who people can relate to
Keep being yourself 👍
And in the words of Cartman f@?# you kyle 😂
Appalachian Kyle says it correct.
We say it correctly in PA too. We love Miranda, but she’s saying it wrong lol
It's RUclips. Use the video.
Start your own, and do it your way!
im going to marry Miranda!!!
Women’s backpack? Why
👎
Why do people watch Miranda? Personality, funny, honest, .... And boobs. If she goes off the market, hiker hearts be breakin'. So long pink blaze. I may switch to bike or canoe. Z
its SIERRA .. @kylehateshiking
