As a follow up to my Gregory's girl then and now video I have put together a then and now video of Bill Forsyth's first feature film That Sinking feeling.
Filmed in Glasgow in 1979 and credited as being the lowest budget feature film ever made a lot of the scenes were shot outdoors giving me plenty of locations to hunt down and match.
The still pictures that follow each scene from the film are as close as it is now possible to get to the same location and these are just a few from the 53 matched location shots you will find on my flickr page.
For the full set of still images visit rewound and found;

And for Gregory's girl then and now video go here;

Well put together. Interesting to see the then and now. Funnily enough I went to the GFT tonight to see the film and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ah memories...my brother-in-law was in this wee gem, and his wee dog, Brandy was the dog in the park...😂
Fantastic I recognise some of those places having a wee note at the bottom of each clip telling us where it is would’ve been brilliant.
Swing by rewoundandfound.com and all the locations are listed with the then and now pictures.
Thank you for publishing the then and now for this and Gregory's Girl. Being a huge fan of both films it's great to see footage like this. It also shows you how much change an area goes through in 37 years!
No problem, glad you liked it.
The gallery scenes with Richard Demarco were shot at Glasgow Print Studio when it used to be in Ingram Street!
I was there..for the occasional party...Colin Walker....Potter, was a pal
One of my favourite films! Amazing to see how my home city has changed.
Fantastic video. I love Bill Forsythe's movies and this takes me back
I was in that area by the Clyde recently. I couldn't BELIEVE the changes!
Its amazing. Up until a few years ago it was waste ground and old warehouses then the Commonwealth games came along and the area got a new bridge, new pavements, roads houses and fancy lamp posts.
Robert Buchanan's fixation with cornflakes carried on from That Sinking Feeling to Gregory's Girl .
I always wondered if the penguin in Gregory's girl was a carry over of the boy in the red tracksuit from That Sinking Feeling. I believe the original Gregory's girl script was extensively changed after working on That sinking feeling and the input of the cast so may be a reoccurring joke from the first film.
“No chocolate doughnuts, repeat, no chocolate doughnuts!”
Robert Buchanan should have been more famous.He was so funny.
Agreed. Me and the very man a few years ago; flic.kr/p/dvTJzr
The one in the station which station is it? Where the train rolls past.
You mean you didnt follow the link to Rewound and found.com where all the locations are listed???? Its the platform of Bishopbriggs station even though they go down the stairs at the entrance of Springburn station.
The Irn Bru plot would have been more credible
In the DVD extras we find out that this was included at the end as a dig at Barrs. The sent letters out to local companies asking for support with the film and Barrs were the only company that didn't give anything.
Thanks
Went school these guys most them did well few dead now
Not much difference in most of the B4 & afters
The big stuff changes slowly but the details have changed a lot.
Wasn a terrible film. The premise of robbing kitchen sinks was ridiculous
The reason they stole sinks was because somebody at the youth theatre was friends or family of the manager of the plumbing merchants so they were able to use the warehouse 😂
Daft eh? That guy that produced didnae huv a clue
