It's funny...I'm not even sure he understands how big a difference there is between 1:45 and 1:43+. Is the 800 actually his best distance? Does this newly discovered 800 speed give him a secret weapon for future 1500m competitions? My eyes are glued.
@ErickandAnimals yup, closeish to the HS national record. I still never expected this. Nearly every year, there's 1 person under 1:48...I think there's been 3 before.
@@jakubgomola2119time isn’t everything, races were just ran differently then due to shoe technology for example his win in Rio was ran in a blistering 50 second last 400 from a slower pace.
For Hobbs: The good news. “Out of 8 billion people there’s only three or four people on the planet that can out-sprint me in the final straight in a 1,500. The bad news: “There’s three or four people that can out-sprint me down the final straight in a 1,500.”
This kid is just getting started. He has something that not many other middle-distance runners have, i.e., 800m speed and 1500m endurance and he's only 22 years old. This brings to mind the likes of Seb Coe and Steve Ovett. I expect to see great things from him in the future.
Generational talent man
Such an amazing human being.

Yup, it's like comparing a hs kid running 1:48 vs a still fast 1:52
@@veganpottertheveganfun fact Hobbs ran 1:47 high in HS

Speed development and smart weight training can absolutely transform a runner… everyone has more speed than they think! Even at the highest level
Hard not to root for this guy!
Runs sub 1:44 in semis and final. Fantastic work young man!
Dude has Centrowitz-level race positioning and centrowitz closing speed. But he can do it off of almost any pace. AND he’s 21??
Bruh centro is nothing against this dude
@@jakubgomola2119bro hasn’t scene centro in his prime
@@lorenzoquirante8685 centro in prime running 3:34 u mean 🤣 period between 2004 - 2016 was the weakest for1500m in history. Centro is overrated

Concentrate on the 800M Hobbs...your medal chances are very good.
Meh, hard to see what he's better at at this point. But in the 1500, a mistake has a higher likelihood of recovering from
hee looks like a..young-strong-boy!!!!!
He’s also expert-level in rock climbing which takes a lot of upper body strength.
american version of seb coe (still young + still developing)
Giant Killer for sure. Distracted eyes maybe have been elsewhere - this guy looks like he has all the stuff
He is not of this world.
He needs to focus on the1500 only . IMHO.
Yep but the 800 is later in the program so run all in for the 1500 and then have a bonus event afterwards
