Mr. Seymour, You are truly inspiring. As an aspiring lifelong classical pianist, and completing music conservatory almost 3 years short of a decade ago, I am aware the learning and passion only deepens with time. I recently discovered your videos - I wish I ever had the chance to have a masterclass or lesson with you at least once in my life! But these videos have opened up my insight even more and drive to continue working harder than before in piano. Thank you for sharing your dedication at such a high standard, which is more rare these days. I am just moved. -Eunice G.
Like yoga for the hands. Returning with slow practice as a former advanced level pianist, I am thoroughly enjoying the careful technical lessons. Thank you than you ! Elizabeth
Mr. Berstein, this video is simply fantastic. You've obviously put a lot of thought into this. I have a question. Whenever my technique and tone clicks, it's after I have mastered the "gravity drop" where I let gravity take my hand into the keys from above the piano. The problem is that most of the time, I feel either too tense landing in the key, or too weak. I always lack the clear articulation that I desire and the sound is stuck rather than movable. Do you have any advice on this technique? I'm curious to how this joint fixation might apply to it as well. Cheers!
bledredwine First, thank you for your compliment. Please give up what you call "gravity drop." One never should allow the hand to drop onto the keyboard without control. In short, if you drop onto a key, you should be fighting against gravity so that you come in for a "soft landing." Seymour
How should a person be advise on recovering from stroke. They already recovered guitar playing but it took 6 months. Should scales be suggested or regular performed works?
Such a hidden treasure! Thank you. Hope you live many more years!🌹🌹💐💐

Found this by accident, looking for a recording of "Birds". Clearly explained and beautifully demonstrated--I am one grateful teacher.
Absolutely excellent.
Thank you, Mr. Bernstein, these videos on touch, tension, breathing are helping me (and thus my students) so much.
+Cape Ann Piano Studio It is a privilege to know that my work is helpful to you and your students. Thank you for writing to me.
