Hi, my old man in his 80s loves fishing. We tried many places around sligo both fresh water and shore but never caught anything. We been to Easkey peir as well but no luck. We are beginer though. Tried vatvh conger eel with maackeral as bait. Can you point out a couple of places where we can catch any eadble fish please with catching technique.

Just thinking now what easiest way it would be, and I'll offer to try float fishing. Get yourself 20g float, 1/0 or 2/0 hook, weight to keep float in standing position. Buy packet or 2 of sandeels and elastic thread from tackle shop. You can catch mackerel pollock coalie sea trout (needs license and tags). Head to any pier 2 hours before high tide and fish for 4 hours. Im sure you'll get something for sure. Easkey if water is brown avoid, will be hard to catch anything. Always watch the waves. Easkey for example is very dangerous when wind is North or NW. Float rigs will help you to avoid kelp and rocks, so way way less lost tackle. Any questions let me know. Tight lines 🎣 and keep safe

@@FishingwithRomanas I live in Enniscrone and am new to fishing in Ireland. I’m also blind and find it hard to find anyone willing to give advice or tips.

Hi Toto, sorry for the late reply. Anyways. Sea fishing is exciting type of fishing, but also could be very dangerous. Even on a nice day conditions might change very quickly, and you always have to keep an eye on the water. There were many times I cancelled my fishing due to waves, swell. The best advise I could give you is go with someone. If you have any questions about the tactics, baits, best times -write to my email sponkevicius@gmail.com

      @@FishingwithRomanas Thanks.
I get that answer every time I ask. I guess I’ll continue learning on my own.

No matter how good and exciting fishing is, your safety should be priority number one. I dont fish Iniscrone much, but if Im ever around I can give you a shout. And theres no shame to ask someone to accompany you. Sea is not something you wanna play with. Talking from my own experience. Tight lines
