I think his long arms have something to do with this pull as well. He makes contact low and gets a lot of height from his shrug right after contact. Very strong traps. If he "finishes the pull" he might have a hard time to stay over the bar, which he does very very well and he keeps it very close. He catches it quite high and rides it down. I think he gets a lot of power out of his glutes when he explodes as well. Clearly what he is doing works. I really admire his clean technique and attempt to mimic it myself when I clean. To me it is very efficient and saves energy for the jerk.
Greek lifters did this too, check out khaki kakhiasvilis, pyrros dimas, valerios leonidis, etc. They pulled just enough to get under the bar fast and aggressive. They never extended their ankles at all. I once spoke to a former greek pro lifter, and basically taught me how to do this, and since I started doing it, my cleans are stronger and sharper and bars no longer crush me. The theory is that once you pull high enough for you to catch the bar, the more you pull, the more energy you spend and lose time to get under the bar at it's peak upward velocity. That said, my pull is not as tight and short as pliesnoi's. But since it works great for me, I'll keep at it. I think it's not you either pull till noon or don't you pull at all. I think it's more of a spectrum, and i happen to be a bit more on the short side. Not saying shortening you pull is better either. For example, Ruslan Nurudinov pulls really high and yet is able to catch the bar tight and solid. But for some, pulling too high means a bar crushing on the catch, basically because we're not as fast under the bar.
Gabriel is my favorite lifter and a big inspiration. I think his technique is perfect. Any insight you can share into his style would be greatly appreciated. However, I support any and all ideas for content from this wonderful channel.
He doesn't have a mousepad, he just keeps it in the middle of the desk on a book. He is neither right or left handed. Edit: he keeps both hands on the mouse at all times.
So came back here again after Fitz told me to try and emulate how Anton pulls under the bar actively since I’m lazy with the pull under of the clean. Seriously for any new viewers out there, buy their programs and if you can afford it go for the 1:1 coaching. My technique and confidence lifting has never been higher
Didn't realise that he was an import, but there was another Georgian "export" who lifted without full extension too, the GOAT of Cleans, Kakhi Kakhiashvili
I just finished my first wl meet today, and I want to especially thank you guys for all the virtual help you guys have given me. Been supporting the channel since day one, keep it up🙏
I know you prob won't have a direct connect and I know he was popped but would love a vid like this on apti's power jerk. It looks so smooth, like a piston!
Hahaha yeah I've heard. It's just just a silky smooth technique. Arguably not as clean when he came back and was cnj what he used to snatch, but still, would be cool to hear your thoughts
Also, a commentary on this craziness would be not only epic and funny but interesting to hear what the HELL is going on here! 😲ruclips.net/video/ukQadJhhzvM/видео.html is Tel Aviv just weightlifting hell or something?
@@sikastrength You could reach out to Viktor Getts. I've spoken to him before. Really nice guy, knows English, and if you want to talk about Russian squat jerks, he's hit 90+% of his best C&J with it. Probably the best guy to ask if you did a split vs squat jerk video haha
Reminds me of Kakhi Kakhiashvili's clean (E.g., 1994 Senior World Championships - 91 Kg Class). I wonder if it's a coincidence that he too is Georgian (originally)?
Would love to get a different perspective on the clean. Me myself does not fully extend and I am really fast under the bar and nobody have said to me that it is wrong. Like if you are consistent and get strong in that position you will eventually be able to lift heavier weights. A interview would be amazing. to see more in depth about his perspective on it. It is interesting.
would love to see an interview and to see differences between Ukraine and Georgian approaches. I may be super thick here but I don;t understand the full extension thing. full extension of what ?!! pols
The segment on the intent of good technique was pretty eye opening. I thought it was a good thing that I’m “able” to pull 100kg up to chest height lmao
Do the Interview, also in regards to strange cleans, you might want to take a look at kirill pavlov. 85 from kazakhstan who has the famous "bar stops at 2nd pull" clean.
Fast views really interesting stuff here people with interesting techniques are Yurik vardanyan and khaki and the straight pointing forward feet of pyros demas it’s interesting to hear his point of view on why it works well for him technique is so crucial haven’t quite figured it all out but even maximum efforts seem light sometimes which I’m assuming is due to technique. Most of it is learning even when your not sure your learning cuz body is amazing anyway thumbs up Messo would be awesome cuz he is such a happy looking guy
Ноги - “nogi” in Russian, or “nohi” In Ukrainian, can mean either legs or feet. By a freak coincidence - my clean is not dissimilar, because I have weak legs. Admittedly, I’m just weak - but relatively, my legs are more terrible than my back! 😂👍
Is it possible to achieve lifting big weights in the clean and jerk, and the snatch. ? In terms of numbers whats possible for a natural in weightlifting compared to elite athletes. Are they all on gear or are some of them natural its very complicated in Olympic weightlifting i see some guys lifting a huge amount of weight overhead but i cant say whose natural and whose not like in Bodybuilding. itll be interesting to hear your take on this issue.
PLEASE DO THE INTERVIEW!!!! that would be so amazing
I read that title in Jerry Seinfeld's voice and I'd like to unhear it
Oh gawd!
😂
9:05 I'd love to watch a breakdown of gabriel jerk

it's crazy you got his thoughts on the matter too! Would be really cool to hear/read a longer interview with the guy.
do the interview!! I competed against him in Italy and it was interesting to watch him work, both in the training hall and back room. unreal athlete
Greek lifters did this too, check out khaki kakhiasvilis, pyrros dimas, valerios leonidis, etc. They pulled just enough to get under the bar fast and aggressive. They never extended their ankles at all.

Great video
Gurph: so meso, why do you do that strange clean complex at such heavy weights
Meso: because I can
I would love to see both Meso, Gabriel and the Anton interview.
Gabriel is my favorite lifter and a big inspiration. I think his technique is perfect. Any insight you can share into his style would be greatly appreciated. However, I support any and all ideas for content from this wonderful channel.
An interview with Anton would be awesome man. Dudes been one of my favorite lifters in the 96kg class since I saw his 6/6 at 2019 Worlds.
I’m excited to hear from the lifters! It will be a great opportunity to see their differences in training philosophies.
Today on Gurph's desk: 3 empty water glasses, a swedish knife and a mysteriously blurred out computer screen... What are you hiding Gurph?
He doesn't have a mousepad, he just keeps it in the middle of the desk on a book. He is neither right or left handed.
Edit: he keeps both hands on the mouse at all times.
@@nickdutton6218 this had me crying 😂
Nobody talks about my notepad being my mouse pad. Nobody. You're on the list NICK
Whenever someone doesn't understand what "over the bar means" I just show them a vid of any Ukraine lifter cleaning

Pliesnoi is the man 💪🏼 Make that interview happen!!
It is very interesting to hear what and why elite lifters do what they do.
Didn't realise that he was an import, but there was another Georgian "export" who lifted without full extension too, the GOAT of Cleans, Kakhi Kakhiashvili

Thanks that's great to hear!
i’m loving the topics you guys cover...very applicable to actively training weightlifters
Would love an interview with him. The whole Georgian team is doing very very well. Would love to hear from him!
been waiting for this for a long time. will wait for the real interview with Anton too

Super keen for a full interview!!

Lockdown easy next month it'll be the FIRST video we do 😁
Great advice on experimenting with techniques and learning to calibrate/ judge for yourself
Would like to see an interview with Anton. Kolecki analysis also 🙏
commenting to summon the algorithm gods
Yes to all additional content questions, this one was great
Definitely interested in any videos talking to elite weightlifters. So much niche information to be discovered👌🏼
Ya I'd watch that interview
Miso! He is like a happy buddha of weightlifting. 😁 Very friendly and talented.
0:27 You had me check my pc there bro LOL
I know you prob won't have a direct connect and I know he was popped but would love a vid like this on apti's power jerk. It looks so smooth, like a piston!
Man's got no direct hook up in Russia unfortunately. They're social pariahs and were always the least friendly at comps 🤣

I was looking at his clean today and thinking about it.... maybe we'll try get in touch 🤔 thanks for information
The interview would be great! And insight into the Meso complex would be cool

very cool that Anton was willing to provide insight, good guy
If you talk to Meso could you please be sure to ask about the importance of the gutteral scream
Gaberial's jerk is something. The power in his spilt jerk is phenomenonal.

Maybe it really is just weak feet 🤔
Sika Strength: Fucking metatarsals always letting the side down! 😂👍
His best is 225kg. Im a padawan of his.
All ears here for an interview.
Very interesting, thank you 👏
