In this episode of the podcast, we welcome our friend and podcast producer David to the show as we examine the connections between Granada and the Abbey Building Group, we pause to remember “The Woman” Gayle Hunnicutt, we examine the biography of Robert Stephens (Sherlockian actor and one of Jeremy Brett’s closest friends), we discuss more Sherlockian news that we missed while we were away, and we announce a very special upcoming podcast guest. Plus, listener telegrams!
Sincerest thanks to Stephan Weishaupt for sharing this video with us and our listeners.

It’s still a little unbelievable to me that there’s others who love the Granada series, and all that surrounds it, as much as me. Great to hear from producer David on this episode too :-) The biggest thank you to you guys!
Oh, we're out here! We're always finding more of us. Thanks for listening!
You are not alone. I adore it too. 💕
Me three
My favourite Sherlock Holmes of all, the series is wonderful and my comfort blanket for all time.
Thanks for the shout out! You fellas make my favorite podcast and it’s wonderful to feel included this way.
Always glad to see your work, Benjamin! Thanks for sticking with us.
What a treat! I'd never heard about this before... Thank you so much.
Incedentaly, many years ago, I purchased a brick from my then local branch of the Abbey National Building Society. It came from their headquarters in Baker Street NW1, when they were modernising, it was from the demolished (Georgian) parts of their offices. All proceeds from the sales of the bricks went to various worthy charities. It has 221B stencilled into the centre of it.
I was 16 when I bought it, and now I'm 60. I still have it, and I cherish it!
That is an excellent keepsake! Do you still have your account with them? :)
This is the first time I've heard your podcast and it won't be the last. Thank you! The Granada series is the best and I find it fascinating on many levels. One thing, however, since is my first time hearing you, I have no idea what movie you're speaking about, but it does sound interesting. There are always new listeners and explaining some of your references would definitely make your podcast even more enjoyable. Thanks again!
Welcome to the show thank you, Ray! We had mentioned the movie in a few of the previous podcasts, but it's called The Vast Lonesome... an old west ghost story Gus and I are making. We'll share more when we can.
Great to have you back again. Thanks so much. Love the podcasts!
I’ve missed y’all. So happy you’re still at it!
Glad to be back!
"Our memory may linger on, or your writings may still be read..." Prophecy Fulfilled!
So great on so many levels!
I just always assumed it was a newspaper clipping, from the socialite section or something akin to that. The aristocracy would have been known by sight to anyone interested in 'following' them. The attention to celebrity would have been the same as now, there just wouldn't have been the facility we have today. But there certainly would have been photographs of her available to anyone who wanted one and Sherlock would have sourced it.
Thank you, Laura. All good points!
Or maybe, even more probably, it was her calling card she would have given Mrs Hudson when she visited. They often, especially around this era, included a photograph, like how we have on our social media profiles now - how you present and interact with society
The few images I could find of Sherlock's blanket show that it is crocheted. Usually gray and brown stripes. But some crocheters out there complain that the Granada props department used different blankets, they aren't all the same, so it has been hard to create a pattern.
We haven't taken it off the list yet... we'll see what we can come up with!
Hey guys. You must have lots of recordings of interviews you've done with the actors from the show, there's been plenty of snippets in your full episodes. Can you put them on whilst we wait for each new episode? The ones with Prim Hardwicke, David Gwillem, etc are such a great listen in between the episodes, I'd love to hear more
Thanks Matt. We're planning to. Editing the interviews takes time too. And we always seem to be in short supply of that resource. But. We're hoping to get more interviews out in the coming days.
Jeremy Brett is my all time favorite Sherlock on film or video. Hands down!
I didnt watvh this cause theres no vid of jeremy 🙂
I'm so grateful for your series! 📖
"View full video of The Case of the Abbey Treasure " trying to watch it as I have never seen it and it says the video is unavailable and that it is set to private.
It was meant to be live at the same time as the podcast. (It is live now.)
221b Baker Street, hardly an address to inspire confidence.
My guess it was done for a Christmas Party and viewed by the employees of Abbey Group
That's not a bad guess.
This is so interesting, bye the way I think David Hemmings is up there with Oliver Reed
Sadly, no interest has accrued because it is always 1895.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏼🕯🔮🌂
