Seeing the Suikoden Philoharmonic Orchestra Live in Tokyo in October 2022 was one of the best days in my life! I cannot believe how many diehard fans attended in the sold out Tokyo Royal Orchestra and to my surprise, it was mostly girls under 30 and really old grandparents. Many tears were shed in that hall, including idols, models, yakuza, teens, parents! The beauty and inspiration of Suikoden will last forever! Suikoden 6 when pls

What a shame. No offense to anybody, and I do mean it. This is not an offense directed to the musicians, arrangers, uploaders, viewers, and commenters. It's just that Suikoden's arrangements have strayed so far from Mrs. Higashino's belief now. She had to fiercely fought the higher-ups at Konami to make sure that the arrangement album for Suikoden II was not an orchestral/jazz/electronic, run-of-the-mill arrangement albums like so many video game arrangement albums, but a folk-themed one. That's because to her, Suikoden's music are supposed to reflect the cultural diversity portrayed by the game, and so the arrangement album should carry that core as well. It's also why we got Celtic and Asian arrangement albums for the series' soundtracks alongside the piano/jazz arrangement albums and the vocal albums. The last Celtic album was made almost twenty years ago (2004) and the last Asian album was in 2010, mixed with the celtic ones. Now we got jazz, brass, latino, and piano arrangements along with orchestral tours. No more arrangements played with Bouzouki or Gamelan or Celtic choirs. Again, no offense to anybody. The arrangements on this video are great. Also, nobody but hippies go to a folk concert, right? Orchestral/piano/jazz arrangements are where the money is.
I love this post. It gave me alot of thoughts about this. Miki definitely influenced the classical asian folk theme for Suikoden and made it super iconic. This is in homage to the feeling from the water margin and the old school ancient battles of man vs man and not man vs monster or futuristic evil. However, on the flip side, her music will stand the test of time and is there for everyone to enjoy the original feel. The new interpretations pay homage to the original tune but provide a new modern twist, and any cover or arrangement of any Miki Higashino classic is appreciated by me because I would rather have the opportunity to hear more and more Suikoden music regardless of style, as long as they bring Suikoden back into the limelight and mainstream spotlight, as I want everyone to become aware of Suikoden and raise enough commotion to get Suikoden 6 made!
@@TheMiyazakiMan I'm glad that you don't take my post as an insult. And to reiterate, I love the arrangements here. It's just that as a person who enjoys folk music Suikoden was a sanctuary to retreat amongst the other games' soundtrack that delve on other genres.
Indeed and I hope the work on Eiyuden Chronicles has a similar top notch OST! I actually watched the Suikoden concert live this weekend in Tokyo and will be uploading that music on my Suikoden 6 channel!
@@TheMiyazakiMan I'm sure people would love it. After all, it's going to have Motoi Sakuraba (Star Ocean, Dark Souls), Michiko Naruke (Wild Arms), and Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill, DDR). Still, I'm skeptical as none of them are known to make great folk tracks. But then again, nobody does folk music in gaming like Konami Kukeiha Club (we can get great celtic tracks from Mitsuda or Uematsu and electronic folk from Hamauzu, and Tanioka's works on Crystal Chronicles are great but still not close).

Excellent work, you put your Richmond/Obero talents to good use! Added in description and given credits ^^ beautiful music
Thank you so much for this, the music is absolutely beautiful and brings back lots of great Suikoden memories even though I only played 1 2 and 5
They are my favourite Suikodens too! Once you play 3 for a while, it starts to get good after a slow start ^^
14:24 title was "Homesickness" for Kyaro Town theme.
Oo excellent, well noticed!
