every png i uploaded, it had the gray and white pixels. how do I fix that?

Our Pixlr should be able to open any PNG files unless the file is corrupted.
For us to check and investigate further, you may email the file to info@pixlr.com.

All I know is that whenever I try to erase any part of an overlay effect, it says it must be an image layer. It won't allow it.
Right click the layer and select "Rasterize layer" and it will convert the element to an image layer and then you can erase or use the cutout tool.
