Tokyo Marui NGRS AEG vs TM MWS GBB - Which One is Right for You?

- In this video, I compare two of Tokyo Marui’s most popular airsoft rifle platforms: the Next-Generation Recoil Shock (NGRS) AEG and the MWS Gas Blowback Rifle (GBBR). Both offer recoil and advanced features, but they function very differently. Whether you are looking for a reliable and consistent electric rifle or a highly immersive and realistic gas blowback platform, this in-depth breakdown will help you decide which one is the best choice for your playstyle.
This comparison covers several key factors, including:
• Recoil and shooting experience - The MWS GBBR delivers a strong, realistic recoil impulse and a loud, mechanical sound with each shot. The NGRS AEG also provides recoil, but it is less pronounced and accompanied by the noise of an electric motor.
• Reloading and magazine differences - The GBBR uses 30-round gas magazines that are heavier, more expensive, and more fragile compared to the NGRS magazines, which hold over 100 rounds and are more cost-effective. The MWS requires regular gas refills and can suffer performance drops in cold weather, whereas the NGRS operates consistently regardless of temperature.
• Bolt lock and reloading realism - Both rifles stop firing when the magazine is empty, requiring the bolt release to be pressed. The MWS is much more realistic, as the bolt physically locks back and slams forward to chamber a round. The NGRS replicates this function, but it does not have an actual bolt hold-open mechanism.
• FPS and consistency testing - The NGRS typically shoots around 285 to 300 FPS with 0.2g BBs and maintains a very stable FPS due to its electric system. The MWS GBBR can reach 400 FPS, but its performance fluctuates depending on gas pressure, ambient temperature, and cooldown effects.
• Customization and modification potential - The MWS GBBR is highly customizable, as it does not require a motor in the pistol grip or a battery compartment in the stock, allowing for easy swaps with real steel grips and stocks. The trigger system is fully mechanical and can be tuned or replaced with aftermarket trigger boxes for a custom feel. The NGRS has easier hop-up adjustment by pulling back the charging handle, whereas the MWS requires the bolt to be removed for hop-up access. However, upgrading the NGRS is much more complex, often requiring an experienced airsoft technician.
• Cost and long-term investment - Both platforms cost around $550 out of the box, but the MWS requires additional investment for gas, multiple magazines, and maintenance. The NGRS is cheaper to operate in the long run, as batteries last longer, and magazines are more affordable.
By the end of this video, you will have a clear understanding of which platform suits your needs. The NGRS is ideal for players who want a more competitive and reliable airsoft rifle with some recoil, while the MWS GBBR is best for players who prioritize realism, immersive shooting mechanics, and customization potential.

Which one would you choose?
I’ve had my MWS since they came out and I’ve used it in winter (in the Uk) every year and it does feel a bit more sluggish compared to warmer weather but It doesn’t struggle whatsoever so ever. Mag efficiency drops, I’ll get a mag and a bit in winter compared to 2/3 mags worth in the summer.
That is so good mate! TM are incredible, I don’t know how they do it!
@@DRob-zj1ld I’ve got an airtac HPA adapter for my MWS for when it’s too cold., or if I find myself at a game with players using their AEGs like light machine guns with hi cap mags or drums. I also have a TM mk46 NGRS. If you want to carry an LMG then I feel like you should be carrying the weight.
@ oh definitely. Gone are my days of hi caps etc. enjoy the challenge limited rounds comes with. I’ve got an AirTac adapter for my AAP build and have been debating one for the MWS. What sort do you have, the options for me at least are the shotshell adapter or the m4 style one. Not 100% on either look but I don’t think they look too bad compared to the Mp5 style
@ it is a standard m4 mag adapter. I put short 100 round mags in it as I don’t need the capacity and they keep the ascetics of the rifle.
@@blusox78 exactly the same. I use the EPM1 Minis so it looks more normal. I literally have an airtac for every single one of my GBBR's
GBB mws any day. Yeah you have to deal with the usual small drawbacks with gas but always sounds better than the noise of motors. However theres the GBLS DAS15 which is a good middle ground between AEG and GBBR
I will check that out mate!
@@6mmbadgergbls is pretty expensive but it’s the best electric recoil your going to find. Other options are daytona hpa blow backs. while they are consistent and have good blow back they Lack the manual of arms you get from the ngrs (so it’s pretty much just a better hpa tapped gbbr as the hose goes down the grip and isn’t as in the way) another up coming option is E&L with there HPA blow back line up. They released an early limited release of there T191 which has the best of everything imo as it has manual of arms, cheaper and less fragile mags u can actually drop and gbbr levels of recoil.
the price of the DAS can get 3 GBBR
@jinxu-k1s yeah however it's the only gun of its kind so thers not any other options with the same system
@@Lt.Chris909 true ,i think the ATM or PEW have 70% of DAS level,I can’t get DAS because the area i live in,but i can get cheap ATM copy.It can have 50%+ recoil of GBBR with usual TM MWS .
Once I went gas I never went back.
Same with me mate!
I run my ngrs in the winter, Gbb TM in the summer. Buy both haha
That is the recoil lovers dream!! In the UK?
@ U.S.
Does Tokyo Mauri make the best GBB?
@@BxgoldenB0Y36 one of the best for sure. VFC are also a strong competitor at the moment
Is that a real or replica wilcox mount on the aeg? I’m looking to start a CAG 416 or MCX airsoft clone but haven’t been able to find that mount in my initial search for parts.
This one is actually a replica. I think i got this one on Ali Express
I've had my TM HK416 NGRS for 2 years and JUST bought MWS GBB, crazy timing with this video lol. The NGRS system is honestly pretty badass considering it's an AEG at the end of the day, but I think it really boils down to price, you can get a NGRS and MWS for pretty much the same cost, which makes it kinda difficult to pick the right one.
Completely agree mate! I have never seen an HK416 NGRS!
GBLS
