Actually, I didn't like this album either at first but now for some reason these clips are making it sound really good? Like better than Plastic Beach at least and that's one of my favorites.
It’s still a very underwhelming album. A lot of the criticism with the album was muddled with non issues, actual issues and a lot that I agree and disagree with. The album has too many feature THAT are used incredibly poorly. If plastic beach showed how to do features properly than humanz did not. A song like white flag still feels like a gorillaz song despite not having Damon Albarn on vocals, a song like strobelite does not. Also some features are incredibly weird together like in submission where they pair sweet angelic vocals with the crazy guy down the street, neither are bad artist just they pair incredibly poorly. Another main complaint is that the sound gorillaz use doesn’t sound distinct enough compared to what was being released. It felt like they were copying what was popular and instead of evolving their sound which is what causes the album to feel very uninteresting in the sound Department.
Add this to the albums terrible cohesion and narrative which can’t pick a goddamn tone for the life of it. One second it’s a fast depressing rap and next we’re vibing which is then cut into another slow space like song and than we’re vibing again. WHAT. This goes on for half of the album and the second we do reach a consistent tone the album takes a nose drop in quality. Sex murder party suck, hallelujah money is fine but the ending song has not earned the amount of cheesiness that it has and feels like a slap in the face from a band that delivered beautiful narratives in their previous works and their works just a year later. Remember when the fire came out of the monkeys head and we needed two beautiful songs about moving forward an making a better future. No, throw that away just shoehorn in a we win anthem at the end wooooo.
The album isn’t well done, it’s weak in many areas and if it was made by a new comer or was Gorillaz first album than I’d be kinder to it. A lot of songs are great, even songs I’ve criticized for not fitting in their still great. I just would of preferred them in the deluxe version or the now now. But as it stands, from a truly great band that has shown that they are professionals, this felt like a school project.
My opinion obviously. I love seeing different sides of arguments if you have them.

This album came out while I was a freshman, I am now moving out and this still remains as my favorite album of all time. I have no reason why many people hate this, this was an extremely creative and chaotic album and theres nothing to match it.
Album felt too all over the place for me. I find the features aren't used as well as they could have been, and the track list is too long. There are so many throw away songs in this album imo. When it's good It's really good however.
It's probably because the band was gone for years and people were expecting a lot more from it

This album is so good, I remember seeing the Gorillaz perform at outside lands in San Fransisco, 2017 as a highschool graduation gift from my mom. What a beautiful night, I cried at the start of each song because I was just so happy to see my favorite band of all time live in person 😭❤️

This was no doubt, their most underrated and misunderstood project. Been a fan of Damon’s work since I have memory, and this is my favorite album of gorillaz only

This was my second Gorillaz album I got on CD. I got it when it came out, and it was my favourite album to listen to. Even though it was released 4 years ago, this is still so nostalgic

honestly this album is what did it for me. i remember hearing all about the humanz album dropping and i had listened to it im not sure when but pretty soon after it came out, and i absolutely loved it. listened to it religiously, was finally introduced into a brilliant gorillaz album that was "my time" and i can relate to when it was first releasing and the rush and all the community excitement of it all, i had even dressed up as 2D and Noodle that halloween with my s/o at the time and it all was such a nostalgic and great experience of mine, listening to that album and those two characters, will always remind me of that album release and be dear to my heart.❤️

Happy 4 years Humanz, even if some fans complain about being heavy on the futures I still feel the hype of knowing a Gorillaz album was finally coming out after 6 years of waiting. 👏🥳
