Lyrics:
You remind me, of cigarettes
The way I hold you, in my chest
The way you kiss me, with your filter breath
I keep thinking, I'm getting over this
Once you had me, you don't have me anymore
I don't crave you in the morning, or at the company store
I don't use you to escape, in my fingers out the door
Once you had me, you don't have me anymore
But honey, you're smooth
Honey, you're smooth
Honey, you're smooth
Honey, you're smooth
You don't make me, cool
And I can carry, I'm fine without you
You're a spirit, and you can't be beat
But when I'm jonesin', honey, I'd buy cheap
Once you had me, you don't have me anymore
I don't crave you in the morning, or at the company store
I don't use you to escape, in my fingers out the door
Once you had me, you don't have me anymore
But the truth is that you do
Not the way you used to
But there's something after you
'Cause honey, you're smooth
Honey, you're smooth
Oh, honey, you're smooth
Honey, you're smooth Видеоклипы
If you have never seen this man live you are missing out on a true organic and artistic experience.
K ok m trully agree
This song is in my top 5 songs of all time. I've come back to it over and over for comfort for years.
It saddens me at how little view's this heartfelt song has... People that don't know Noah Gundersen have no clue at what beautiful angelic sounds they're missing. The entire family have something special and I love them all.
For an indie singer-songwriter, 8000 views in 12 days isn't that bad. I love Noah's work as well. Patience, more people will find these blissful melodies in time. He has been composing music for years after all. Knowing a bunch of musicians where I live as I do, I'd say it's only a matter of time when Noah busts out to perform for wider audiences. After all, generally hard work + talent = success. Whatever your field.
(Edit: I realize a week ago this had much less views when you posted your comment)
+asholesquaredance I just stumbled into his music. I'm looking for an artist that sounds like Gregory Alan Isakov, but I have found nothing. Anyway, I like this guys music. :)
Even though its been like half a decade from the writings of your comment. I can still say that there is someone, somewhere, love this kind of songs.
I feel like I'm half of those views.
Don't worry, I'm getting it there. One view at a time
This songs so underrated it's insane. Love Noah's work. Always have.

Cigarettes
By Noah Gundersen
P.S You're welcome! :)
when the crescendo moment hits and all the scenes play reverse footage of things coming together--the curse of memory, the challenges of relationships. when you break up with someone, you're ending the good as well as the bad. it's too easy to think about the good and see the past through rose colored glasses; it's too easy to want the love you know is wrong.
This is an absolute masterpiece. I hope the people involved know how important it is.
This song describes my relationship in ways I cannot.
Hey Noah! IM SO HAPPY I FOUND UR MUSIC AGAIN! My friend showed me ur music 2 years ago and it was amazing. We were always listening to family, fire, slow dancer and poor man's son. My friend recently came back from Australia and i asked him, what was the song that we were always listening to, none of us could figure it out untill i remembered a single word ''Poor'' and after that i managed to find poor man's son! Just today! Noah, keep on doing music, always! LOVE ALL OF UR MUSIC!
I'm so late in discovering Noah Gundersen... literally 2 days ago. Lol Seriously tho, it feels like he's in my head manifesting my thoughts into existence with such grace n beauty. His music is phenomenal n only the chosen understand. 😆🤔😉
This song gets me in some kinda way every single time.
My stars, that's a piece. Just perfect.
What an amazing audiophile and visual experience.
This song helps me a lot through hard times of lovesickness and makes me keep going on, like every time.
"She brushed her hair away from her eyes as the sunlight blinded her eyes for a montartary minute, she smelt the smell of campfire, such a nostalgic feeling she thought, a warm loving feeling, she remembered him, how he made her feel so loved and complete, memories attacked her mind, wishing he was here to relive this moment, the paticular feeling she could never replace, wondering if he was happy or scared by demons attacking him for his skeletons he held, he was such a loving man, paranoid yet graceful in protecting me and the ones he loved, when it rains I feel his touch, when the seasons change into fall I feel him more than ever, his favorite time of all, god I miss you, the way you loved me and worried, I hope your ok, yet you always told me to move on if life moved on, I'd kiss you if I could, oh dear I love you forever"
+Sparty Estrada montartary?
Momentary lol ha
+Sparty Estrada Where is this quote from?

So beautiful, to the ears and eyes. Very tastefully done. No matter how many times that I listen to this song, it always moves me.
So glad I stumbled upon this. What a stunning slow burn this song is, and that violin solo. Noah's done it again. love.
One word: perfection!
Simplistic metaphors but so much depth snd beauty. The ballet is truly so amazing and so entrancing with her long beautiful dark hair.
Just one of a kind. Great tunes.
Literally found this song with just noah and guitar and harmonica at least 4yrs ago.....whoever directed this video is gyot dang talented!!!!...structure and talent in a micing bowl!.
i just remembered this
so sad and happy
such unspeakable talent, i feel it all, like i was there
This is one of my favorite songs on the album! I really enjoyed the music video, awesome job! Loved the dancing.
Man this song hurts every time
okay i have loved this song forever, how did i never know the music video was so good. felt all the things
Beautiful blends of instruments, brilliant video, haunting vocals.
I imagine this song as a conversation, the cigarette beeing a perosn you love so much, but it's indiferent to you, because once you exhale it, it dispears, ceases to exist, leaving its effects on you... and you keep smoking to get the feeling back and it's a cicle.
"Once you have me, you don't have me anymore" brilliant
this is so 10/10.
Very cleverly written.. Great job Noah
I just discovered him thru a book I was reading. I'm totally & completely addicted to this song. Rips my heart out. He is an absolutely fantastic artist.
kmparker10 what book?
@@chasemichael5742 It's called Beautiful Beast. A lot of authors put playlists together at the beginning of their books. Aubrey Irons has a list at the beginning of this book. She also included Noah Gundersen's "Slow Dancer".
kmparker10 wicked🤘🏼 thank you
What a lyrical masterpiece this song actually is
This song has always been amazing. The video is beautiful. Keep at it. You're putting nothing but amazing out into the universe.

This song and "Whiskey and You" by Chris Stapleton should be a mashup. Please, someone, make this happen.

SIQ SONG!
I like your lyrics man.
So So so so so Beautiful ;(
this song is my life rn
Could someone explain more of the music video to me? i think i understand but i'm not entirely sure
The music industry is corrupt if he doesnt get millions of fews soon or an offer at a deal, he gets only a few thousand views but a dude screaming I got baking soda gets millions but the song david is played on a blockbuster show and doesnt even get on the billboards......SAD
I'm in love with the coco lol
amazing !!
Maybe it's cause I heard the live performance video first but I prefer the live version. It's amazing. Not that this isn't brilliant as well, I just like the other one more :) It's so raw.
Totally agree with you, I heard the live version first and prefer it because it is so raw and stripped down and passionate. But like you say, this one's awesome too :)
Are there any other songs he has done like day is gone? It's one of my favorite songs out.
And to think this song is actually about literal cigarettes.
Not quite. Cigarettes are a metaphor for a relationship. Noah Gundersen said it himself.
OMG
♡
So fucking good. Perfect. Bravo!
I miss her
Evan Rogue!
This is the depressing music my mom used to love, it really ruins your day. I never understood the appeal
Nothing compares to this music. Seeing him live in a cathedral in Seattle was definitely the most hauntingly beautiful concert of my life. I would love it if anyone checked out my cover of Heartbreaker on my channel :)
WHats this song's meaning? whats it about? its a great song
+Jeanne Brennan You should really just make your meaning for it. Real artist's don't even know what their songs are about, and or figure out the meaning little by little, way after they finished the song. lol
Omg,I'm just ...
I really dig a lot of Noah Gundersen. That said though this song seems like some Forrest Gump type shit.lmao maybe just cause I'm a non smoker I just can't groove on the lyrics.
well smokin is not really in the center of this , the comparison to other things more like.. thats why the lyrics is so "general" so you can associate to many things that can be addictive
Bálint Ujvári The song is absolutely about addiction, however not everyone is addicted to smoking, clearly the women in the video was the "cigarettes" to the guy....
yeah that is kinda not different from what i said
Bálint Ujvári Indeed. Just making a suggestion that it can relate to various forms of addiction...
Could someone explain the video please?
Jann Vega
Think of a relationship as a road. It's a road that stretches out for miles and it has bumps and hills that you have to climb and it is hard. But you realize that you are still on the road with the person you love next to you and it makes you appreciate what you have while you have it. Because that person that you hold so dearly could step off that road and onto another. Then you will be walking it alone.
Jann Vega Noah Gundersen said himself that this song is about addiction to a substance, hence the title "Ciggarettes". So whether the woman is the "Ciggarette" or the man (I think it's the woman) the other is trying to get out of their addiction of the other.
Emily Blum Thanks :)
I'm really really bad with song meanings. Will someone please explain this to me?
It's about a past love that was once like an addiction to him, something that no matter what he had to have. And he thinks he's over her, but truly deep down there's still a piece of him that can't let go. He might not love her the way he used to, but she still holds a small piece of his heart. Or at least that's what I get out of it, because that's the exact same situation I've found myself in.
***** lol stfu
SOA
The song is pretty good but the video is great. Noah Gundersen is a good lyricist and knows how to set the mood but his music isnt really my cup of tea. One of the best music videos i've seen. The music and cinematography go so well together and im sure gives some of us deja vu.
Sekzi
cigarettes.
I think they could've been more creative with the video
but...
This song has a nice ring to it but the modern music video style sh*t f*cks it up..
