    I've been bagging the A2 since last spring and love it. It's more reliably overstable than zone/clones and it feels more comfortable to me. I did like the stability of the Razor Claw, but didn't like how deep it is. And all the Zone discs just turn into a shorter Teebirds when you power up and that's what stable putters like the Envy are for.
    I also like the A3, especially for touchy approaches. That disc really likes to just go in the basket.

    • @Machfreeman
      @Machfreeman Год назад +1

      I had almost the exact opposite reaction to the razor claw vs zone. The depth started out as a negative for me, but in the end I got a lot more comfortable with deeper putters in general (the alpaca is my favorite thrower) and thus ended up going back to the razor claw. After seeing eagle’s in the bag with him bagging a RC1 and RC3, I tried the same and LOVED the versatility of those two discs together.
      It’s funny how feel can be so different for the individual! Lots of folks look for disc recommendations without considering depth - just speed and stability.

    Best reviews on YT. Love how you show the discs up close so we can see the discs completely and how they compare to each other. Also love the side by side flight comparisons! Exceptional. And I completely agree with your analysis on this one. Prodigy is doing their own thing and it's paying off. I bag both A2 and Zone, but no pig, no razor claw, or toro. Prodigy proving innovation and originality are worth the risk/investment. Thanks Apollo DG.

    I like to bag a zone (I actually have my circuit challenge Tempo in my bag atm which is nearly identical) but I don’t feel like it’s overstable enough to cover all the overstable approach shots I want to throw. I’ve been using a Jarn for when I need just a little extra bite, which is actually pretty often because if I need to disc to go left the zone doesn’t tend to do that consistently enough for me. I’m a big fan of the concept of “zone but faster” and the Pyro actually fills that slot quite well for me.

    I have only thrown an A2 a few times before passing it on to a friend.
    A disc that I regularly bag which is very similar but more workable imo is the Järn from Kastaplast. Especially in soft K-1 plastic it has a nice straight flight before a reliable fade. I know people call it an "approach" disc however I use it more in the os mid slot. It's like a faster zone with a more straight flight before the fade. K1 plastic ones are usually more beef than K-1 soft out of the box. K3 (baseline) is even more beefy when fresh.
    I have only tried Z zones so that may be why.
    While bagging a Järn I also bag a harp. A more os puttery like disc. Imo zone is somewhere in between those two :)
    Have a nice day :)

      I really think Innova missed out on rebranding some of their small-diameter midranges as approach discs, like the Skeeter, Panther, Spider, Cro, Gator/Gator3, Caiman and Croc. But people tend to gravitate towards the full-size mids and these get overlooked. At least that's the way it looks to me.

    • @JM-tb8zx
      @JM-tb8zx Год назад

      That reason is McBeth. Things were way different 5 years ago.

    • @ApolloDiscGolf
      @ApolloDiscGolf  Год назад

      I don't know... I feel like a lot of the pros had the Gator in the bag because that was just the best thing that Innova had in their lineup for that slot... and since a bunch of other stuff has come out, the Gator has kind of fallen back and faded out of relevancy with all the other approach discs coming out. Even Innova gave in and made a true Zone competitor in the Toro.
      I think the only reason the Gator was somewhat popular was because Paul used it, and he used it because that was the only good option for a slot like that in their lineup. Then when going to Discraft he said the Zone filled a slot he never had with Innova and something he always wanted in the bag.

    Also genuine question, how does your Prodigy M4s feel?
    Went to a wedding in MN from WI. Stopped at 6 local disc stores, every single M4 I felt had the worst flashing I’ve seen not only on a disc but just on plastic in general. They were all in the exact same spot and it wasn’t even like a little flashing left over, it genuinely felt like it was almost apart of the mold because it was so thick and protruding, much more than average flashing I see on discs.

All the owners stopped buying Prodigy discs right before the Gannon lawsuit, mainly because they said they didn’t sell well. I think right now Prodigy reallllllly needs to hammer down their marketing, and this comes from someone who is a marketer for his job. They need to come clean about the changes they have made from what gave them a bad rep to what they are doing now. That’s why I love MVP Lab Reports. The brothers tell us all that is going on and the processes they are working on to get better quality. All I know about Prodigy is that they moved production to China, which isn’t the best of looks, putting lower production prices over quality.

    • @ApolloDiscGolf

      The collab series discs are all made in China I believe... along with a lot of their newer molds like the F9. And the ones in China all feel super nice with little to no flashing at all! Very nice manufacturing! Their older molds are still manufactured in the US and that's what had the flashing issues, but they have gotten a ton better with the flashing with the US made ones!
