It would be nice is senior citizens could get Dupixent to treat their eoe. I can’t affor $7,000 for 4 shots.

I’m scared to do the dupixent for my eoe. I read online that it decreases immune system function? Should I take probiotics alongside dupixent? Do I need to stop doing weed or it won’t interact? My doctor just has me very confused.

yes stop smoking unless the weed is edible than thats fine

Had severe EOE. Elimination diet dairy and gluten. In remission. Two years. Will stay on this diet when they come up with a better way to test for EOE other than a biopsy. Why take meds if there is a med free option?

Read my comment about iron supplumentation. A deficiency is usually the root cause if a person normally does not have (traditional) food allergies. Check your mpv, or, mean platelet volume.

OMG. A simple blood test will reveal anemia. After reading my own labs and seeing 1.) Out of range (high) eosiniphils, 2.) Out of range (very low) MPV, or, mean platelet volume, 3.) Past allergy testing showing NO food allergies, and 4.) EKG results show Borderlibe LAD. I concluded that my EOE is a direct result of an iron deficiency, and I am starting supplumentation. There is no way I'm bombarding my body with drugs.
Doc says, "No allergies. You're all good. But you are not good, bc you have EoE. So the allergy tests didn'tpick up on something that clearly only your esophogus is reacting to. Here, take these harsh drugs and eliminate half of your diet!"
    Here's how it works:
Not enough iron molecules to bond with (otherwise benign) food molecules, so your body sees the food as a threat and T2 receptors come into play at the scene of the crime ( your esophogus). And now your esophogus is chronically enflamed, filled with eosiniphils (white blood cells try to protect you).
So take a liquid iron supplument and get your eosiniphils rechecked after 6 weeks.
I may not be a doctor, but my EoE is my motivating factor in my own research, and unlike 98% of the population, I have a MENSA IQ, so I figure things out pretty quickly.

Ordering continual Upper Endoscopies while eliminating suspected foods should be considered Medical Racketeering. The more accurate, faster, and honest test would be the simple Eosinophil Count Blood lab test. It's $49.49 at Quest Diagnostics.

That’s incorrect. Eosinophils are *supposed* to be found in the blood. They are a type of white blood cell. A standard CBC (complete blood count) includes eosinophils. EoE is eosinophils concentrating in the esophagus. The blood test cannot tell you that.

    • @newbeginnings6747

No. That is not the same as a biopsy.

In my case; after eliminating 2 foods which tested 'high' with the IgE blood test. I stopped having difficulty getting food through my esophagus. My follow-up eosinophil count was reduced by half. I can not honestly justify a follow-up EGD. My GI doctor won't like this self-cure; but Medicare certainly will.

Regular food allergy: reaction to CERTAIN ingredients
    Eoe: reactions to UNCERTAIN ingredients

IRON deficiency leaving unbonded food molecules exposed, and body reacts with T2 receptors, causing inflammation (high levels of eosiniphils). So, conclusion: Take iron.
