Great video and it shows were we lived, duplexes on Beach Drive, from 1957 to late 1960. It was a great time for our family there and we have so many good memories of Bamberg. Seeing the duplex we lived in brought back many of those memories. The round about before entering our street wasn't there then and the crossing was concrete so the 7 Calvary could drive their tanks down to the German road below. During the winter the snow would cover the tank trail and we would sled down it. German kids would show up and seeing our sleds they wanted to try ours. They couldn't believe how fast and maneuverable our were.

My son, 1LT Patrick Stanton (P) was stationed with either Alpha or Bravo Battery 1-6, late 90's, early 2000's. Has fond memories of the troops and Bamberg.

I was stationed at Warner Barracks 1967-8 with C/3/7 Hawk Missile company. I would like to chat with fellow Hawkers who were there then, or around that time.
The PX has a strange smell that I was never able to identify until I learned that a German cavalry unit was stationed there.
The stable was converted into the PX and the smell was the remnants of manure.

My family was Stationed at Warner Barracks from 1980 to 1983. Our Building was located on Ulm Strasse, I could look out the guest bathroom window. And, there was The Bamberg Middle Highschool, we lived in the first building on the 2nd floor.

@@kenglavens6455 if only I yet had the images downloaded from some years back. Images of the remodeled apartments and the addition of a fueling station. In the same location as the Cafeteria and Convenience building. Vergangene Tage, ja?

@@fredrickp9522 Ja Wohl! I'm dating myself but I remember when that cafeteria was remodelled..if you are talking about the one down past the Mohawk theatre. I've got lots of pictures of the base when I went back in 92. That's right after the refurbishments took place right before reunification and the Gulf war. I doubt if much changed after that. When I first got there as a kid in 64, it was drab as hell and very depressing in the winter. I'm currently on my way to Long Island and I'm going to go to NYC and Brooklyn and I'm going to check out the gate at Ft. Hamilton tonight where we stayed right after we got back from Germany. I'm also going to go down to the crummy hotel that the military put us up in about a mile from the Brooklyn Bridge. We walked that trek to Ft. Hamilton every day until we got a room there. I'm going to walk down to the river tonight from that old hotel which is now a nursing home and rediscover the Manhattan skyline just like I did when I was only 13 years old. Can't believe it's taken me almost a lifetime to retrace those steps and relive that spectacular childhood memory on the day we flew back to Ft.Dix. I think this will be just as rewarding as my trip back to Bamberg 31 years ago. My how time flies. I'm travelling through eastern Pennsylvania now towars New Jersey and will be doing this tonight. Not to worry..I heard that the area has become gentrified.

Good to see Warner Barracks again. We lived on AhornStrasse from 64-67. Sorry to see that it has been turned into housing for illegal immigrants awaiting deportation.

Hey Jerry I was a brat back then .We were there from 64 to 66. Went to 7th and 8th grade there. Lived on Erlenweg in Temporary qtrs. and then across from the main gate on Zollner Str. Hated it. It was one of the best times of my life. Was in a state of euphoria on the day we flew into Ft. Dix and saw my first Oldsmobile Toronado. Went back to visit on 92. Had a great time. It was very sad to me when it closed.
