This young fellow can easily be mentioned in the same breath as the legend that was Fischer- Dieskau. A sound technique, his overall vocal is very reminiscent of Dieskau at the same age. Resonant, masculine, elegant all at he same time. He has a great stage presence as well. Bound for glory.
Wow! This feedback is such an honor to me, not only because I adored (and still adore) Dieskau's singing. I highly appreciate your kind words! Thank you so so much!!
Just here I'm not thinking of the great FiDi, but of Sir Thomas Allen (you can hear this aria in English from him here) - and Johannes K. seems to have gotten something from the famous Allen Charme and the deep sensitivity.
beautiful and talented sounds even better when he is more relaxed in some spots--he becomes more resonant and true to tone and pitch only--that's what's most impressive.
A translation from an old libretto of the New York Grand Opera Season 1921-1922. English translation by R.H. Elkin: I'm yearning, I'm sighing, I'm dreaming in vain, Of how I won heaven And lost it again : 'Twas during the dance, - Two souls entranc'd, - A whispered confession - A suppliant glance - Her voice murmur'd close to my heart : "O tell me we never need part, "And true to your Rhineland for ever remain !" I'm yearning, I'm sighing And dreaming in vain .... Tempted by travel, I left my native town ; Lured by her dancing, I joined her troupe as clown Caught in Marietta's tresses, Learnt to love mid tears and kisses Wealth and want, Love and hate, That is poor Pierrot's fate !
Wonderfully stylish singing, fine technique and control, and a stunningly beautiful voice! I'm green with envy... (At a masterclass, this aria was considered extremely difficult by none other than the superhuman Thomas Hampson!! ) Best of luck, and hope to hear you on recordings at least. Greetings from Portugal!
Very nice, really. Though, the guy is breathing every now and then... Incredible. Like Joyce DiDonato once said, you can breath, no problem, there is no breathing police or anything like that.
A bit draggy, miss the rubato. pickup the pace so the stretches mean something. yes, reminds one of DF-D, but Dieskau's voice had a more youthful vocal weight at this age, which is why his career went so long. once you start putting the weight in, you can never really go back

The moment at 1:11 is absolutely stunning!
I must look at that!
A perennial baritone favourite.... he does it well

🤣 Yes, it is… Thank you so much for your kind words! All best to Portugal from Germany! 👋🏻
He starts with a virtual imitation of Fi-Di.
😆👍🏻

😆 That’s true! 👍🏻 Thank you!

ヨハネスカムラー、ヨナスカウフマンと間違いそうでした‼️貴公子のような居で立ちと美声でスターになること請け合い‼️プッチーニかベルディで聴きたかった‼️
Ах-..
Спасибо!!
The old problem, not singing forward and over the note!!
Show us please how to do it! Otherwise just shut up.
Pathetic comment. This is better singing than you’ll hear at most major opera houses. On top of that this is a competition for YOUNG singers.
You're not wrong
schöne Stimme aber, langweilig, langweilig und langweilig. alles gleich, wo ist die Musik. schade.
I see it differently. It´s the perfect tone for this aria and what he sings about.
You're correct it's supposed to be a sad walz
