I agree with your interpretation. You mentioned 48 may just be significant because it’s close to 50, and I believe this is true. The fact that you almost got off at 48 (so close to your destination) because of fear of the unknown / fear of the speed you were traveling / fear of doing it alone… Also when you were in the bucket it sounds like you would have had to literally climb (striving) up onto the 48th floor, instead of allowing the elevator to easily take you. Lastly, I think it is significant that you had a bird’s eye view and saw that there were other elevators, but none were above you. I had a dream that other people are in my elevator and they were pressing all the buttons. The elevator kept going up and down insanely fast until I called on God and realized it’s not so bad. My stomach stopped feeling queezy and I was more relaxed. The elevator got stuck and I had to squeeze out from the bottom of it through a hole where only I fit.
My interpretation of it is the white man in the dream is a pure being perhaps a guardian angel, I normally go to strong's concordance for numbers, so with that being said you are doing a work for God, when the elevator shot up that is means your determination to do something or get something achieved. The acceleration of the elevated to me spoke of just that, "acceleration." Why you input the additional floors ( 43 and 52) maybe you were in a hurry? The man gets off and you continue trusting the process and you get no wheres. Although you tried without success. The reset ( button) I think would have allowed the elevator approaching from underneath to take you to floor 50...but you withdrew by hitting other buttons which caused the elevator below to stop. You were second guessing yourself for the second time. First at floor 48 then decided to go ahead and now here at the reset sending the elevator below to a dead stop. You could see other elevators moving about without issue? You never did reach your floor? Hence the second guessing?

I initially didn't have a thought about the dream because I was taught that if your jumping around in a dream then so be it. God is very much personable with us in the way He speaks. It sounds to me like you and another whom you do not know are about to arise to the things God is calling you to after going deep with the Lord, ergo the bucket symbolism. The knowledge you have can take you to the 48th floor but you'll need a different understanding to go to the 50th.
