    Nobody ever seems to give Desi enough credit for his contributions, which were huge, to the TV industry, as a fine actor, musician, and forward-thinking businessman.

      And beating his wife, cheating, and being an alcoholic. Back then it was a woman in a man's world, she made it in a misogynistic time, and she's a damn hero for that! She paved the way for so many influential comedic women to shine. She was beautiful, funny, humble, and literally just what television needed.

      Not true.
      Time has shown that both Lucy and Desi, were brilliant, along with their groundbreaking writers, cinematographers, and all of the amazing talents that created a comedic and tv production renaissance.
      We owe the magic of this show not only to one person, but to many.

    Desi was in the Broadway production of "Too Many GIrls" and went to Hollywood to be in the film version. That's where he met Lucy, she was in the film but not in the Broadway play. Pick up Desi Arnaz's autobiography at your library or on Ebay, it's a great read.

    In the early '70's I went to visit a friends grandparents in old Hollywood. Grandpa was a props man for Desilu Studios. Somehow he obtained the original living room couch and chairs [blue set] from the I Love Lucy Show. He had them in his garage and said the set would be worth a fortune some day. I don't know whatever happened to Grandpa nor the furniture. I don't know the validity of his claims but it was cool just the same.

      Say what? Duped people like me? That's rich...I'm probably a little older than what you might think but I've never been duped...I also know how she treated Vivian Vance off set MAKING or FORCING Mrs Vance to stay 50 lbs heavier than Lucy herself or making her dress down from Lucy herself so don't say I was duped of course I know what a bitch she could have been when she didn't get her way just like the liberals acted when their queen leader lost to Mr Donald J. Trump but that's another post....But I refuse to take away from what Lucy did on stage she was a brilliant Actress and knew her stuff...did I like the way she acted behind the scenes? Of course NOT...But I also blame some of that on Desi Araz.....he (as a real husband) cheated on her ran around with all kinds of skirts and was usually drunk...did I like that? NO! But he also was a great actor and they as a team brought us so much joy and laughter which this country needs more of and less abuse as you stated...but I do appreciate your thoughts and comment.....

      That's right...I don't know why I put second apartment because your right..the one bedroom didn't have a window in the front room and was only the one BR..and yes the second apt they traded with that couple who's daughter was married and lived elsewhere so Lucy talked her into trading as long as they did all the work changed properties and remember what happened after they finished? While they went to the malt shop Ricky hired a moving team and changed them right back the way they were....lmao plus the 2 bedroom was 20 bucks more a month great catch...

    Before I say anything I Love Lucille Ball's character on I Love Lucy, just like everyone else. I done a little bit of reading about Lucille Ball and she wasn't to likable and was very controlling. On the Lucy Show all of the three children, were subsequently written out in season 4. Dropping Candy Moore, in fact, was Ball's decision. and would threaten CBS that she would retire if Candy Moore was still on.Candy Moore adds, "By dropping all of us at once, Desilu was able to get a lot more money out of CBS for the continuation of The Lucy Show." And this is just a little spinet of the shit she pulled. She also didn't like working with Charles Lane (Look him up you'll know who he is.) because he couldn't remember his lines in front of an audience. What can you say ? she was the President of Desilu. Nobody was going to fu*k with her and she made sure of that.

    • @Lava1964
      @Lava1964 6 лет назад +2

      I'm going to defend Lucy here. She was a tough business woman--no doubt. I don't see any fault in that. On The Lucy Show, the three children were peripheral characters who only appeared in about half of the episodes, mostly in minor roles. Few people really missed them when they were written out of the show. She and Charles Lane apparently got along quite well; he was in some episodes of I Love Lucy before acquiring the role of Mr. Barnsdahl. From what I've read, Lane left The Lucy Show after four episodes by his own choice.

      I agree. It is a tacky building... and it has absolutely nothing to do with it being historical. It's the colors/design of the outside... but hey Lucy's personality was out of this world, so I think she'd like it. It stands out. It makes sense.
