    I’m fortunate to still have my two-way KLH 23’s from the 1970’s. I would love to see a link to an A/B comparison of these new 3’s to some vintage 23’s.

    Awesome review, guys and I like your Canadian perspective on all your reviews. Would like to see a review of the new PSB Passif 50’s when they come out in the next month or so….another ‘vintage’ contender. Thinking of pairing it with the NAD C399 (loved your review of that as well)

      Thank you! Passif 50s definitely has my interest. One of my dream speakers was the stratus golds when I got into the hobby in the 90s.

    I would consider trying them in my system but my room is only 10 feet square so I think they may overload the room with bass although you can place them near rear wall any comments much appreciated

    Have you had the chance to test its transient response and spectral decay?
    There's not too many sealed consumer speakers out there.

    KLH for the win. Only because of the sweet magnetic grilles. Wharfie's & the JBL's don't have that feature. I have the KLH model 3 2 way, mounted on VTI 3 foot tall titanium stands...and they are beasts !!! Beautiful sound in a medium sized room. No need for a subwoofer. Paired with Yamaha 50wpc @ 8ohms amp. Just fantastic.

    It sounds like the Model 3 has excellent sound stage imaging. Do you know if the Model 5 also has excellent sound stage imaging? Thanks

    • @Hifyed
      @Hifyed  2 года назад +1

      The model 5 does have good imaging like the model 3. Just make sure you have the space and you can make them disappear sound wise.

    I was curious about these speakers, since I prefer acoustic suspension designs and consider them inherently superior to ported speakers in reproducing bass. Unfortunately, there are relatively few acoustic suspension speakers available. The Model 5s are a bit large for my room (and a bit pricey as well). I currently use NHT speakers, which are also acoustic suspension speakers. My sense is that they may be more like the Revels. In other words, they more on the analytical side (but with acoustic suspension). The NHTs are also a better value, since they sell directly over the internet with no middle man dealer. I am happy with what I have but I would consider these if I needed another pair of speakers. BTW, "Gillespie" is pronounced with a hard "G".

    • @Hifyed
      @Hifyed  2 года назад

      You are right it is unfortunate we don't see more acoustic suspension designs. Manufactures want to maximize bass output or at least the "perception" over quality. Your right your NHTs would be more like Revels. The KLH will give you quite a different presentation always worth a good audition before deciding if you need another pair. Thanks for letting us know the proper pronunciation.

    Great video as always Guys! I like the structure of your review, music examples, and comparisons. I’m cross shopping the KLH 3’s and 5’s with the Dynaudio Evoke 20’s. Any thoughts or preferences from you all? Cheers!

    • @Hifyed
      @Hifyed  Год назад +1

      Thank you! Those two speakers are quite different. Dynaudio strengths are in it's sense of transparency and accuracy compared to the KLH. The KLH has a good mix of the old school but yet modern sound. The bass on the Model 3 I really do enjoy. If you have a chance to listen to both I would and do it with primary genre you listen too and keep in mind your associated equipment.

    How are these for classical music?

    • @Hifyed
      @Hifyed  Год назад

      They work very well for classical music. Which is impressive as classical is one of the hardest to reproduce. It won’t, however, have pinpoint imaging but still more than sufficient.

    Thanks for the review. Do you have any idea about how the KLH Model 3 would compare sound-wise to the Totem Sky Tower that I currently have? I guess the vintage vibe really appeals to me.

    Great review! I've been thinking of getting these to replace my Beovox S45-2s, I know it's unlikely, but any idea how these would compare? I was pleasantly surprised with the B&Os, but have been told they are probably the weakest link in my setup. I guess color/signature-wise, I'm looking for something more energetic or rock'n'roll, less clinical or analytical. Thoughts? From you or anybody here!

    I am in the market for this kind of speaker and will probably end up buying the model 5. I believe that the reason for the extended triangle shape listening area is because the speaker stands don't line things up at the isosceles triangle listening point. When I get the model 5's, I will not use the provided stands, They will be repurposed and the speakers will go on a very robust stand that puts the midrange and tweeter at sitting ear height for me of around 44 inches. I'm converting these speakers back to book shelf usage and hope for the best. I have 2 subwoofers already and will use them if I think that's necessary. I know this is about the model 3, but I hear to many good things about the model 5 midrange to ignore. Thanks for the video guys.

      thank you! I do think it will take awhile for the model 7s to be released they are finally just catching up from backorders from what I heard. Unfortunately I don't think I'll get the Yamaha quickly. Yamaha is one of the few companies I don't friends in. Maybe I need to make one 😉

    Hey Guys, thanks to your excellent review I purchased a pair of Model 3’s (and an Arcam SA20 to drive them). My first proper hifi system lol!
    I have them set up according to the manual; after six weeks of steady listening they are starting to shine and the bass is getting more pronounced. For the right room and use case these are fantastic. Thanks again Guys!

    great review! got my attention... you also reviewed the Elac Unifi Reference (saw your review as well). Which one did you like more? I'm setting up a second stereo in my bedroom. listen to mostly jazz and classical (from piano sonatas to string quartets to orchestral music and jazz piano trios). being a professional musician, i love an honest sound with a nice soundstage, depth and great dynamics...speakers will be powered by a cambridge audio cxa81. also considering the kef ls50 meta. speakers must also sound nice at low volume. any advice, greatly appreciated!

    • @Hifyed
      @Hifyed  Год назад +2

      Thank you! If your looking for a more honest accurate sounding speakers I would say the elac or kefs. Musicians tend to lean more towards that sound. With that being said the I would highly recommend you give the KLH a demo. The bass response, dynamics will add something different not usually found in traditional stand mount speakers.. The KLH may not have the same pinpoint accuracy in the sound stage its no slouch either. You may find it’s advantages more appealing especially for secondary system. It’s always nice to have something a little different. Also your Cambridge will match well with all those speakers 😉.

    Hello, I'm glad I found you guys and have subscribed. I'm curious about possibly matching the Model 3, Model 5 or even the Lintons in my 16x18x8 room with a Peachtree Class D Gan amp or a Schiit Vidar amp since I already have these? I also listen to a plethora of music styles. Would it be worthwhile to pursue? I currently have the Elac UBR62 bookshelf speakers. Thanks!

    • @Hifyed
      @Hifyed  Год назад +1

      Thank you! I would definitely give either them a chance and will work well with your current setup. Your elacs will sound quite different than the KLH so make sure you audition them first to make sure you do like the sonic signature better. When it comes to a wide variety of music the Lintons are up to the task.

    Really great review. You guys hit all the marks in maintaining a comprehensive outlook. I've been considering these in place of my bookshelf speakers as I'm hoping for a more tactile presentation, and a "softer" and wider/more forgiving dispersion. Have a small listening space. Did you guys feel this would still work in more of a mid-field situation as well? I can't be much further than about 7 feet away with what I get. Thanks again🙏 PS Gillespie not "Jillespie" 😉

    • @Hifyed
      @Hifyed  Год назад +2

      Thank you! It would still work pretty good in a mid-field position. I do found the more distance you give helps. The reason for this is the speaker sits low and is angled. Depending how far apart your speakers are at 7ft away the sound stage will be a little lower. The dispersion characteristic of this speaker is quite wide. You would have to make sure your toe in/proximity to your sidewall needs to be carefully setup especially in a smaller room.
