Hi, very nice roadtrip through the desert, the climb at the begining and the open-wide views afterwards are just amazing. I have just one question: Why it isn't reccomended to drive to Eilat on Highway 12?

Because road number 12, along 30 kilometers, kisses to Israel-Egypt border. In Sinai, the Egyptian side of the border, there are a lot of ISIS terrorists. In summer 2011, there was a big terror attack of terrorist on road 12. Eight Israelis were murdered in some points along the border.
There were some more terror attacks on israeli soldiers along road 10 (it is along the most of the Egyptian border). Therefore, Roads 10 and 12 were closed for some periods since the big attack of 2011. Now, road 12 is open. I think now road 10 is open for citizens in weekends with IDF allow and keeping only. The status of these roads is make sad because they are very beauiful, with very nice views...
