  • Victoria Duval is a nineteen year old American tennis player, represented by IMG Tennis, who burst onto the professional tennis stage with her upset of former champion Samantha Stosur at the 2013 US Open. Last July after achieving a career high WTA ranking of 89, she was diagnosed with cancer. As shocking as this news was for Vicky she is no stranger to monumental adversity. At age 7 she was held at gunpoint in Haiti. In 2010 she nearly lost her father in the Port au Prince earthquake, an event which left him partially disabled and resulted in devastating financial and emotional consequences for the family. Through all of these challenges Vicky has responded with unshakeable grace. She has held on to her dreams while spreading joy with her infectious smile and bubbly personality. Her time away from competition has been devoted to pursuing and developing her passion for art, including a collection of her paintings which will be exhibited to benefit cancer research. Currently, Vicky's cancer is in remission and she is actively preparing her comeback to the tour.
