I just love Doctor Breen's speeches in this and the following chapters. There's just something about his rethoric that makes me think "God damn, he's right!"
That was a beast of a walkthrough. Smartly done too. You did far better in the plaza standoff than I did in my last playthrough. The area shortly before with all the grenade spamming soldiers wiped out most of my followers, and so it was just myself and one other. Thanks to your walkthrough I've learned a new, far sneakier way of dealing with them without endangering my squad - so thanks for that... oh, and don't forget to reload! As for the chapter, personally I'm not a huge lover of the first half with the cramped residential corridors. I feel it somewhat outstays it's welcome. The second half with the plaza standoff and the battle in the old cement works I love.
6:10 You can actually use the plate to climb over the fence and avoid the hoppers all together. At first, I didn't know you could remove them, so that's what I did.
I just finished replaying Half Life 2 after I haven’t not playing it in 8 years, start to finish in just one sitting. It still is the best experience I ever had in gaming, and I have to say, Anticitizen One and Follow Freeman are just so, so intense compared to the rest of the game. Constant action, all the time. Found it a bit hard and frustrating at times, but looking back on it, it was a ride, a rollercoaster. Simply amazing. I simply can’t play anything else and enjoy other games the way other people do because after having played these series, I just can’t see the point. The soundtrack and audio design, the characters, the mysteries, the simple world building and lore, yet at the same time all very, truly interesting, all make for what I can’t describe as anything else but a masterpiece. I actually believe the Half-Life/Portal series prove videogames can be art. The only other time I felt this way about a game is when I randomly discovered Persona 5. The Persona series, for me at least, is the only thing coming close to the excitement the HL series brings me.
I could not agree more, about the HL and Portal series. I've played both through so many times I've lost count, and still get great entertainment out of them.
Gorden and Alyx's Slow Teleport from Nova Prospekt all the way to Kliener's lab fascinates all of us in the lab. the distance between Nova Prospekt and Kliener's lab according to orbital measurements is about 21 kilometers, it took 7 days to get to the lab. by calculation, that makes the teleporter speed in this scenario, that makes the teleporter speed 0.125 KM/h or 3 Kilometers per day. if we apply the same logic between black mesa and the train in City 17, that puts the teleportation speed to 1.3 Kilometers per day according to Kliener's logic. But of course, i knew how Freeman got to City 17... September 25th, 2024, 9:25AM, Kliener's Lab, City 17. Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance return to Kliener's lab to learn that Eli was now a personal prisoner of Dr. Wallace Breen, the city and the human race was in an open rebellion and a week had passed since the escape of Nova Prospect. Now leading an effort to Bust into the Citadel, Freeman has definitely made some real enemies and a new army...
At 49:10 I would advise too use the shotgun or AR2 since you only have 2 smg grenades I would save them for the final zombie infested / Combine stronghold since it is packed with enemies. Keep these videos up!
“If ya pick the hoppers up without setting them off, you can put them wherever you want!” Aye shut up, this is BigMacDavis’ channel, not basic_male_gives_advice_from_fictional_videogame channel. Jeez.

Nice, I was anticipating this to come out today. Best of luck on the next (and the hardest) chapter! :) As for supplies you missed that I know of, there is a battery at the left side in that small room at 29:11. There are also two medkits and an SMG behind the two barrels at the bottom right at 1:28:13.
I missed the ekg flatlining sound that plays when you kill a metro cop. It reminds you, every time, that you killed a living person who was just trying to do his job.
The moment you shoot 2 headcrabs with one sheel and then few seconds later you shoot headcrab in flight is something that even Jesus woundn't do better xD
One helluva ride for sure, but not just done yet for more of the urban fights. 🔥😅 And yeah, the gate plaza part is probably the hardest section in the game. But as a result, you really did make outta your way impressively. :D
Yeah cool 2 for 1 with the headcrabs and nice air kill with the other headcrab. About things not going as planned you have said that a lot with this walk through lol. So here is a quote to make you feel better In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.

This was my favorite chapter by far. Alyx at 1:03:30 gave me a genuine surprise. I would like you to do more let's play videos. I know they aren't your channel's focus but they are still very fun to watch.
0:49 Good one, not easy to catch 26:02 The most annoying thing about this chapter is the squadmates getting in your way 80% of the time. Wish there was a command to order them to stay in position, and keep it. 28:06 This was actually a good chance for getting the "Hack Attack" achievement, since the metrocops are weak against manhacks. 34:14 *Careful, this is not marked as a Lambda location for the Steam version, but it still counts as one. Bummer.* 48:13 Haha! 49:12 You can save that citizen if you run and toss an SMG grenade on the far left of the stairs. Same, although harder, upstairs. 49:53 I tossed some pheropods at the combine soldier, blinding him, and let the squadmates kill him, so satisfactory. 55:22 *That's definitely a Lambda Location, I can see the logo on the Steam port of the game* 1:02:14 *Same as above* 1:07:32 This doesn't count for Steam achievements, but still good to know! Also, totally unrelated, one of my squad mates tripped on an object and instantly died. 1:19:46 "The sweetness!" 1:23:21 I just love using the Pulse Rifle's altfire to vaporize the poison zombies, it's an instakill. 1:26:07 If you crouch underneath the catwalk and walk on the ledge to the other side, the soldiers destroying it won't be triggered. 1:30:19 On that rail balcony on the right, there's a jumpmine. I used the gravity gun to detach it, then planted it back again. You have to jump on top of the moving lift and then jump again once close to the mine, since the railing will prevent you from using the gravity gun. That way the two soldiers that will spawn there later will be done. This chapter is pretty long, but gives a sense of fulfillment once you've finished it, whew!
1:13:11 Alyx getting captured is very painful to watch. At least she will have revenge in the last chapter! She obviously went to great lengths to rescue her father and ended up in the hands of the Combine herself!
1:26:03 You can actually pick up and throw away the grenade with the gravity gun. Guess what happens when you do that? Exactly, the catwalk doesn't get destroyed!
1:13:32 I have played this level countless of times but I never actually noticed that Alyx gets kidnapped! I always left after the combine started shooting and assumed that she ran off! That explains why shes Caught next time we see her! It all makes sense now!
For me, this is easily my least favorite chapter in HL2. You can tell that it tries hard to be like Surface Tension in the original Half-life (which is my favorite in the entire half-life series BTW), but it just fails to recreate the magic of that chapter. I hate having to babysit the squad and watch the same scripted events over and over. It doesn't help that you keep running into your squad members all the time either.
At least it isn't mandatory to keep the squad mates alive. Personally, the sooner those useless peons bite the dust, the more enjoyable the chapter becomes
Very nice and solid run, I fully enjoy it :) As for me, I totally hate protect-the-alyx parts (that one and in vorty's lair further), it's hard to concentrate (only my problems). Also, I enjoyed how do check same rooms twice, but from different doors in corridor :)
35:15 Arriving a little bit late by 2 years maybe. That APC is a nod to the Beta APC from Half Life 2 that it looked like a military APC. They changed it (I don't know why) to a much more alien-looking APC, but still keeping the military charm.
Sorry I am late, had to work on some chapters of my recent stories. Nice work as always! I don't know about you, but I love the sound of the hopper mines when they bounce around. I like how you had an Al fail with the combine grenade during the plaza similar to the moment I told you about. When first leading rebels, I always thought the metro cops are scripted to get out after trying out the send command. And the combine soldier at 1:21:56. he's actually supposed to run into the barnacle, pity it didn't come that way for you. If you don't mind me asking, ever interacted with the rebels? And what do you prefer more, the MP7 or AR2? I mean, the latter, sure is more powerful but with only 3 mags, you can#t use it often, the MP7 iis more plentiful instead.
Slight correction BMD that I'm not sure if anyone else pointed out. But the achievment "Follow Freeman" isn't really unlocked until you get all 4 squad members at 4:37
44:04 I've found that, if you immediately run to the Headcrab Shell as soon as it lands, you can just whack the thing with your crowbar. When the flames die out, you'll know you've killed all the Headcrabs.
Oh and I don't know how dependent you are of your Patreon but I would probably subtlety promote it with a link at the end of my videos, and I follow this one youtuber WorthABuy who does these thank-you videos at the beginning of every month. They seem to inspire people to join. P.S. I'm not some evil capitalist. I just wanna help you stick around for as long as there's anything to stick around to. :)
1:06:19 I guess Alyx means here, “Make sure I do not die. In the meantime.” I guess she does mean that definitely. Because your job is to survive the plaza battle as long as you can outside and make sure all of the Combine do not kill Alyx and make sure you keep killing them all to keep them off of her. And then after you hit the core with the gravity gun, Alyx opens the gate and then you get out of there. This was all the same for me too. I explained it all myself.
At the beginning, you can grab some of the pulse rifles and bring them with you to the next area. That way you can give them to your allies. Also, you kinda screwed up at the tunnel battle by letting one of your medics die. And if you want the zombies in the sewer canal to die without using any of your ammo, try to throw a grenade into the barnacle tongue so the other Combine soldier doesn't get killed by it. Both soldiers will kill the zombies for you. By the way, you can actually kill the headcrab 1:24:31 by jumping on it. I'm not joking, you actually can do that.
That achievement "Hazardous Radiation Levels Detected" is no biggy. One time I earned that, I waded through the radiation like a man, not even caring about when my health and suit battery was going out.
1:24:06 *Three days earlier* Resistance member #1: Hey where should we put all these supplies? Resistance member #2: Hmm... uhh... how about we toss them inside this hole and out of arm's reach? Resistance member #1: Great idea!
„Let me get out of your way.“ he says and continues to walk right in your way :D

You have to jump on top of the moving lift and then jump again once close to the mine, since the railing will prevent you from using the gravity gun. That way the two soldiers that will spawn there later will be done.
This chapter is pretty long, but gives a sense of fulfillment once you've finished it, whew!
It's not like I need the walkthrough, I just like the humor.
Oh my favorite youtuber strikes Half life Again
Probably my favourite mission
1:13:11 Alyx getting captured is very painful to watch. At least she will have revenge in the last chapter! She obviously went to great lengths to rescue her father and ended up in the hands of the Combine herself!
This chapter might be the HL2 equivalent of Surface Tension. Both chapters are very long and difficult, and they take place during warzone.
For the longest time I read the chapter name as "Anti-Citizen Zone."
Billy Mays also says: *but we're not done yet!* (and so do you :P)
1:26:03 You can actually pick up and throw away the grenade with the gravity gun. Guess what happens when you do that? Exactly, the catwalk doesn't get destroyed!
i love the Little details in the Source engine like those Ambient sound effects
1:13:32 I have played this level countless of times but I never actually noticed that Alyx gets kidnapped! I always left after the combine started shooting and assumed that she ran off! That explains why shes Caught next time we see her! It all makes sense now!
This video is here for you to rejoice, my brethren!
Roger that, let's run like hell!
playing it on my Steam Deck...best game ever
Awesome!! I love this game so much!!
Very nice and solid run, I fully enjoy it :) As for me, I totally hate protect-the-alyx parts (that one and in vorty's lair further), it's hard to concentrate (only my problems).
Also, I enjoyed how do check same rooms twice, but from different doors in corridor :)
Yeah, protecting Alyx can sometimes be a chore.
2:42 the radio 😅it’s horrifying
2:47 That scares me a lot at night especially it's music.
"Prepare for unforeseen consequences"

The watermelon thing just cracked me up hahah, nice touch
Heh, thank you. :)
I think it's so Wholesome you did not break the watermelon into pieces (as I always do in this part), but just tried to feed the headcrab instead :')
Yeah. I thought maybe the Headcrab might be hungry. :3
@@BigMacDavis Dr Kleiner would be proud of you!!
35:15 Arriving a little bit late by 2 years maybe. That APC is a nod to the Beta APC from Half Life 2 that it looked like a military APC. They changed it (I don't know why) to a much more alien-looking APC, but still keeping the military charm.
So awesome a new walkthrough another great day
"Yeeeash" xD omg so intense voice
That's me, haha.
too many ads for my taste
*why did i post this*
Sorry I am late, had to work on some chapters of my recent stories.
Love your videos :)
Most of all, this chapter tests your patience with the AI xD
I love the long chapters :D
Btw Dark Messiah of Might and Magic would make for a good walkthrough game as well
Oh and I don't know how dependent you are of your Patreon but I would probably subtlety promote it with a link at the end of my videos, and I follow this one youtuber WorthABuy who does these thank-you videos at the beginning of every month. They seem to inspire people to join.
P.S. I'm not some evil capitalist. I just wanna help you stick around for as long as there's anything to stick around to. :)
Dark Messiah? Now that's an excellent game that I haven't played in a while. Would love to see him cover it, as well as homm6 altogether.😊
1:06:19 I guess Alyx means here, “Make sure I do not die. In the meantime.”
I guess she does mean that definitely.
Bad feeling: this is gonna end soon.
Good one: there's much more coming!

*checks achievements*
43/45 lambda locations
And OF COURSE, the last one is one I already have.
Dog is the sweetness to surpass headcrabs and antlions or even houndeyes.
Hmm. That might be pushing it. ;)
I like watching your videos, because you great commenting.
I can't wait to see you play through RTCW!!!!
That's the VERY next game I'm doing! :D
That achievement "Hazardous Radiation Levels Detected" is no biggy. One time I earned that, I waded through the radiation like a man, not even caring about when my health and suit battery was going out.
33 min, you can also save ammo by going up the truck on the left and inside the cage that way, then gravity gun the lock.
Yeah! Hl2 walkthrough is back!

Resistance member #1: Hey where should we put all these supplies?
Resistance member #2: Hmm... uhh... how about we toss them inside this hole and out of arm's reach?
Resistance member #1: Great idea!
