My dad's been a long haul truck driver pretty much all his working life. He just turned 75 the other day and very next day took a load to South Dakota. That same day this song appeared on my Spotify recommended list, and it just grabbed me. Mom passed away a few years back and they stuck together like glue. So when I heard the line "always thought she would be there at the end of the line" I welled up with tears. Fred, you just got a new fan! Simple song, yet so beautiful.

Does anyone else think Fred was a driver? I first heard this song a couple weeks ago and I can hear the miles in his voice. I'm not ashamed to admit I cried.. I have over million miles in a truck but I'm sick now and can't drive. But this song takes me back. I love it so much!
I don't think he was. As far as I know, he owned a flower greenhouse / wholesale operation, but of course, he's driven his tour bus across North America many, many times.

Another example of Fred's ability to capture real life and soul in a song. He should be way more famous than he is. His songwriting stands up to the best anywhere anytime. He is a modern day Woody Guthrie out there constantly touring bringing his songs to the world

This song is so true for us old school truckers. This generation has no idea about west coast turns and back row parties and chasing the black dog down the highway. Those days are gone forever
