National as in "will work in the Nation's best interest wherever they are needed". The National Guard (and the Reserves) rotates through a number of set overseas missions on a yearly basis. Although those missions could be done by regular Army or contractors, going through the motions of a deployment helps keep the Guard's readiness up. Alot of comments wondering why we send these guys to Africa and not the border, so if you happen to see this, and take a couple minutes to read it, then enjoy some more info on the subject. We've been sending guys to Africa for a hot minute, as it is an important location for global trade. Djibouti is about as close to the Suez canal as the US and our adversaries could manage, and while Camp Lemmonier itself does not see combat, it is supporting multiple outstations that do, including some in Mogadishu. Several states have been ramping up deployments to the border as a show of force, and there is only so much the national guard is legally allowed to do. Texas has more than enough troops to deal with a border they have almost fully secured, and should consider redirecting some of those troops to deal with the raging wildfires that no one seems concerned about. Africa is not the location of strictly US operations either, but is also shared by several other western and European nations, as well as some activity from China and Japan. The location is popular due to its proximity to the Suez canal, and it being one of the most stable countries on the continent. Forgein nations constantly compete against eachother for the good graces of the Djiboutian government, in exchange for better trade and more land. A few people have mentioned the Chinese base located about 30 mins from Camp Lemmonier, and although the base is still under construction, a few Chinese officers and delegates have visited the US base as a sign of mutual interest between the two nations, to grow and stabilise the local nations in the area. The only consistent source of combat in the area is Al Shabaab in Somalia, who mainly contend with SF guys in Mogadishu. As of time of writing, Camp Lemmonier has not dealt with any hostile contact directly, at least none that I am aware of. To any Utah guys reading this, its humid, hot, and smelly over there, and the Subway/Pizza Hut is a good way to blow through a few paychecks if you aren't careful. Take care.
This is the perfect post and you nailed it. I honestly don't expect a civilian to understand, but some of these service members being clueless is pretty funny yet sad. I remember deploying to HoA and thinking "yeah this should be a guard deployment..." 😂😂 Somalia sucks at times and smells like death if you go, and you may not see a thing your entire deployment. Al-Shabaab is brutal. Be safe out there and keep your heads down, Utah Guard. Don't be afraid to feel scared. It keeps you ready for anything ✌️
Your reason for US troops in Africa is, "it is an important location for global trade". You probably do not know this but when you conduct "global trade" with military threat it is quite often referred to as imperialism.
@@jessfulbright9015 Your understanding of how the world works is severely flawed. @CptFugu yeah, I know , years ago the NG sent my unit to Kosovo 🇽🇰, camp Bondsteel, what an experience, God bless our troops, we really need them on our Southern Border, Airborne🇺🇲 🪖🪂
The government just thinning out the good guys!
Notice how your description "when you conduct "global trade" with military threat it is quite often referred to as imperialism" removes all nuance as to misrepresent what OP is talking about. Defending a trade route in international waters, used by countries even outside of America's sphere of influence, from opportunistic attacks is not imperialism. Especially not when those US forces are literally WELCOMED by the Somali president Hassan Mohamud

Bro's wife just admitted that she was going to cheat on him while he was deployed.
Disgusting!
Utah, you better sort out this infidelity!
Jodie gonna get up in them
Guys
Find myself in someone else's pants 😅
God bless them always 🌟✨🌟✨
Why don't we deploy them to the border instead? The Texas NG is severely undermanned down there.
Don’t worry about the ladies finding strength, Jodie is always there to help 😂.
America first.
Obamabiden sending these patriotic utahans to Africa is INSANE.
The great replacement
You still hate that we had a black president?
Do some research they have been sending troops there since 2001 guess who was president then 😂
I was hoping this was announcing a deployment to the border, I’m very disappointed in the tone deftness this shows to the rest of the country.
They should be sending these great Americans to the southern border, not some hell hole in Africa!!! Either way, stay safe and may God watch over you! 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
It's being DONE Intentionally...
We have an Invasion in America they are suppose to be Deployed like Abbott has in Texas...High Ranking Officials are Corrupt sending Troops across seas away from fulfilling their Oath as A U.S. Soldier
To do what? The military can't enforce civilian law. Maybe know the policies of your own country before talking and looking like an idiot.

You're behind..
I suggest you catch up to reality

@@phillipbainbridge9107having had a presence there doesn’t explain why taxpayer money is being used to expand that presence. Your copy/paste response is basically just saying “we’re already in Africa. If you don’t like how your taxpayer money is being spent, then you should let the politicians send you to Africa too.” How exactly is this deployment the best use of our national resources? In what way does this secure our freedom?
Here we go again. Protecting other countries than our own!!!
Deployments are tough. At least these soldiers *should* all be home in time for Christmas if none of them exceed 270 days. Some will make it back by Thanksgiving if they get on an early enough flight. I missed Thanksgiving and Christmas on my deployment
😢😢😢😢😢 Want some cheese with your whine?
@@widowmaker7462 nope Lol i wasn't looking for sympathy or empathy just stating some info. Have a nice day
@@RUclipsr1g thank you for your service 🇺🇸
The border is safe. Thats why they are going to Africa. I was told by the news that VP was pit in charge and the border was safe. Twenty five other regions of the globe need all our money and food. We are fine. Why would they think an invasion. Invasions are like a few million all at one time. Male, military age. I've watched the same videos for 10 years. This one included. Infact four years ago I watch this. We arent invaded we just have 12 million extras all teaching us a new language
Im a filipino..this women are stress for the lives of there husband..but super aware of the future of her kids..protecting your country with respect and honour is due to protecting the future of the people of that country..success will be hard..i pray for your family and country success..
Everybody is going to Africa right now PA is out there as well
a lot are but its because multiple states have been sharing a rotation schedule for decades nothing new but another unit having fun in Djibouti, other units rotating in romania and poland same shit different pig pin.
Go to the border from California to Texas. We have army navy and marines for overseas stuff.
So glad out troops are defending Africa.
The National Guards Job is to Defend the USA and its border,s NOT to be deployed to Africa on a humanitarian or peace keeping mission !!!
Great American Patriots are being sent away from the home front when they will most be needed at home.
God Bless our patriotic soldiers.
Why African when there's plenty of homeland security problems?
Thank goodness for videos that they can keep in touch with their families 😊.
There’s a lot of people here that don’t understand that our country wouldn’t function without protecting and building relations with our foreign interests we have close to nothing nationalized in this country Our country relies on imports, pretty much everything
That's what Trump changed on his presidential. We quite relying on foreign supplies and dericted work and money stay in the USA the way it should be. Biden got in and changed it back to the way it was. That's why we are broke and in proxy wars
Thats right.making things here should be the task at gand
They might be securing the strategic mineral shipments coming out of Africa other than that the place is a write-off
Africa has mud huts... you were saying?
There's also a lot of people here that don't understand sentence structure or the correct use of punctuation.
Stop war. Peace😢
My family knows those deployments are rough. To those mothers. Y’all got this, you will make it. Don’t be afraid to take help from your family just having a day or two to relax is a game changer mentally. My cousin was away for 22months on his last deployment. That was especially hard thankfully he did get a short leave at 14months. We helped his wife with their two kids.
May God be with all the great soldiers for strength and safety. Blessings to their families they are leaving behind. Thank you for your service to both soldiers and their families. Godspeed.
God bless Utah❤!
Why are they going way over there? We need them down here on our southern boarder!!!
Stay safe my brothers and sisters. Army Strong.
God bless them forever and ever Amen Jesus Christ 👑❤️🔥
They want them unavailable for home defense. PRAY AMERICA!
Jodie has entered the chat.
Sancho for the hispanic wives. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
They should go to Texas
Why are we sending national guard i always thought they were here to protect our actual country not others national guard shouldn't be deployed they should stay within our country and territories period
Because it’s always been a thing.
I thought national gaurd was for defending America's homeland. Not other countries
WE CAN SEND NATIONAL GUARD TO AFRICA BUT, NOT TO OUR OWN BORDER.
GOD BLESS ALL OUR SOLDIERS
Wanna be soilders ,who and What praise hell protecting us from what and who . Go to our borders and really protect us damn 8million people here that will fill 32 states , sleeper cells wake up and Smell the coffee
Thank you for your service!
we have our military forces spread out thru out the world meanwhile we are literally being invaded by foreign countries...WTF!!
These guards are for this nation!!
Yes that’s real dumb i live in south Texas and its bad down here it’s getting dangerous we are being invaded
1:33 Arrest this mans barber immediately! 😂
Are they crazy? We need them here to defend our border.
Why are they sending Utah National Guard for such a long deployment overseas. They are supposed to be defending Utah and the States.
Lord I pray that these brave men and women be protected by heavenly angels during their assigned time away from their home and their family Amen 🙏
We need them home
Thank God we will be combating poverty in Africa
I'm glad my son was kicked out for refusing their poison jab.
God bless these men amd women! Serving on the battle field and those waiting for their return! I pray that they return home safely! One love from your friend in the PNW!✌🏻💚🌎
