Great video, but I'm shocked at the conclusion! Everytime I've ever watched Araujo, he's been an absolute unit! He even destroyed Vini Jnr. This video proves that stats aren't everything.
and he did it again in classico few days ago, lol. pocketed vini easily, outpaced Rudiger, amazing performance

On paper he is a Vini kryptonite. He’s electric fast and powerful and agile enough despite the size. I did say he should be a world class defender - ie a better version of Jerome Boateng potentially. Close to being generational in terms of max potential. That might be seen as a slight understatement but we shall see...
Stats are 💩 Araujo is in top 5 CB's for sure at this moment.

Ronald Araujo is a great ball winning center back, he doesn’t really have a problem winning the ball back and also dispose his Opposition and Also he is an ideal center back to stop players like Mpabbe, vini and etc. but what he lacks is somewhat of tactical side of the defense of game. Agree almost on everything mate. But fans who watches Barca matches knows 100% that Araujo is Barca's best defender and is definitely better than Pique now.
Well this proves stats aren't everything, im saying becuase I have watched 100% of games he has played as a pro , he did make some small mistakes at first but they slowly vanished with time
Understandable his interception and blocks are low as he plays for Barcelona , which is an extremely possession based side like city
Same for Ruben Dias having low interception and blocks as city has the ball almost everytime, thus the minutes spent defending is lower

Sorry but Araujo is probably the best CB talent in the World right now if you see him playing it´s like he is a duplicate of Van Dijk so in my opinion a bad conclusion
His ball playing isn’t close to VVD. What makes VVd unique is that for a big man defender he’s a playmaking Cb (less so at Liverpool but certainly at Celtic).
Araujo can bomb down the wing but is he a playmaking Cb? No - not yet. What he can be though is an equally good defender in the pure defensive sense and be more dynamic in terms of defensive actions - so a more rugged defensive version of VVD with better pace and mobility.

One thing we need to mention is that in a back 4 if your cb partner can't support properly you both suffer. I think with Kounde on his left we will see a new Araujo this season
Araujo already a solid player without him but yes a good partner will take his game to new heights

Appreciate your videos. I know many football fans scoff at stats because they don’t paint the whole picture but personally I love numbers and charts.
It’s tougher with defenders to portray their excellence through sheer numbers as different defenders use varying approaches - some like Van Dijk don’t have high volume of actions and others are more action packed. But numbers combined with eye test and video analysis is imo the best way of assessing strengths and weaknesses- allows you to put it into context.
Barcelona starts him, because he's the only one who's a WALL in defense.
His defense is astonoshing for Barcelona.
Hence his high rating he received.

Watching this video and looking at the states just showed that Militao is insane for his age and could be a great in the future. I watch him every week he honestly made me forget about Varane. I would love to see your analysis on him, he deserves some love.
He’s an excellent defender but have to admit his ball playing doesn’t wow me - nevertheless I think he should end up as better than Varane by time his career is over in terms of how he is perceived. Seems more of a leader and playing in a more vulnerable backline - yet holding his own.
I am sure his current level is already much higher than the potential you predicted in the summary

Yeah both athletically gifted secondary defenders who can’t really playmake from the back. Araujo really needs to upgrade his distribution game to be a proper Barca cb.

But I dont know how you missed his biggest weaknesses : 1- Vacates position and slow comeback. This has resulted in many counter attack goals aganst his team where he fails to return or even gives up on the going back to his position.
2- Poor positional sense: in many goals he either breakes offise trap or chooses to position himself away from where a balanced start defender would do to cover zones and destroy passes or attacks
You say he's not as good as pique, on the ball he's not but defensively and in the air he is better than pique when he was 22 and way more athletic
Is he a good partner for Kounde as cb both? And is he good with Cover-shadow? I think this is very important, to stop attack with just moving right
I think he's good in the tactical aspect as well but he seems sort of raw and undeveloped I think experience would do him good

Who would be the perfect pairing for Araujo? Been linked with Kounde, Kouli, De Ligt and Pau, but what about Gvardiol, Bastoni, Timber, Saliba, Schlotterbeck and Botman etc
Gvardiol would be a good partner as he is very nimble and can play ball. He can be the classy defender and allow Araujo to play the hard man role.
Man how can we ignore pique, he was in top 4 in all the stats 😳, despite being injured last season.

@@giorgosgiannakoudis2308 We did not give Sesko a higher 'current' rating. We do not give 'current ratings'. We give minimum expected, 'predicted' and 'max'. All those are long term orientated so whether or not someone has won UCL right now is irrelevant - but by end of their career yes it is a factor. Hence when someone mentioned Araujo has proved us wrong - didn't make sense, as we have predicted him to be world class but obviously if he ends up winning multiple UCLs by end of his career and is considered 'generational' then yes we would have underestimated him which is easily possible as he's already performing at a very strong level.
Araujo is about 6'3-6'4
Depends where you get your height figures from. I agree in pictures he doesn’t look that much shorter than Pique - so 63 seems correct. He’s definitely a little shorter than Pique so I wouldn’t have him as 64.
