Awwwww thank you for he great info! I actually didn't know that much about capybaras. I'm perfectly happy with my 2 guinea pig boys, they poop enough!!! :) I agree, if capybaras are happiest in a herd, then I don't think they should be kept as pets. Just enjoy watching them in their natural habitats with their capybara families! :) Much love to you and your piggies, Scotty! I appreciate what you do :)

Great video! The first time I seen a capybara I was like OMG, A GIANT GUINEA PIG! I WANT IT! lol Both are super cute but of course I prefer my guinea pigs
Capybaras are my favorite animal, closely followed by Guinea pigs. I’ve had Guinea pigs when I was a kid, and I’d love to have them again, but my husbands against it. It’s also legal to own a capybara where I live (Arizona), but it’s a lot of money just for the capybara. They’re adorable, but I’ll leave the care up to those who have the means.
I’m saddened to know people are able to keep capybaras in certain US states. I don’t think that’s the case in Canada. Although trust me , we have our own animal welfare issues here as well. 😢
I would love some pet cappys, but I just don't think I could provide the sort fo life they would need. The Pipsqueakery has 2 Cappys that were obviously loved and well solcilized before they were surrendered to the Sanctuary, but they lost toes on their front feet due to frostbite.
Scott sweetheart I love the fact that you did this video. Because I personally know that guinea pigs in Capybaras are related you're in the same family group. But I love the fact that you pinpointed the differences between the two. And I'm wanting to know if you're going to do a video on the things that makes them alike?
@@fitzguineavisionyes I'm fully aware of that I did watch the entire video. But the video itself was about how they are different. Not how they are similar.
I wonder what your opinion is about some people only getting one capybara to their zoo because they want to use the capybara for human interactions, I have seen one say that they will be easier to train to have only one capybara and that it will be fine if the capybara is constantly around humans. To me this just sounds so wrong because I have been taught the best friend for a guinea pig is another guinea pig (I would think it's the same for a capybara too) and then there are lots of other animals in the zoo so I can't really see them being able to constantly spend time with the capybara too. Perhaps I'm way too concerned as I'm no capybara expert but I feel really dissapointed that people think like this about social animals, that they think humans are enough or don't care about the animals basic needs because they want to use the animal (in this case for a zoo) and that is more important than basic needs.
Scotty have you watched the Urban Rescue Ranch channel here on youtube. Uncle Ben is a wildlife rescuer so the animals can change depending on the rehab needed but he has 4 capybaras and the cutest little prarie dog. Its such a great channel and he does creature features sometiimes where he will explain interesting facts about an animal. the most recent was on 4 small foxes he's rehabing.
Such a nice video! In The Netherlands, where I live, I resently visited a animal park, small zoo: Avifauna it is called. The animals are very well taken care of. Here I ssw a rodent of the caviidae family: Mara's. Very cute and instandly reminded me of capibara's and guineapigs.

Omg so when I call my piggies "Rustleteeth twentyteeth" when they rustle their teeth at me impatiently, I'm correct lol Also, Martin's (Kona and Suba) Capybara is a capy at heart, we all know that heheh ^•^
A few months ago at one of those liquidation centers I actually found a Capybara Care Guide. It seems either poorly translated or poorly written (maybe ai?). But finding it in Canada for some reason is very amusing If you're curious I can't find any laws against owning a Capybara in Manitoba Canada.
If I remember correctly an capybara in NY you need can only have them for educational and research purposes since a lot groups in NY do have a small group of capybara for education
Not exactly sure what the purpose of in-person capybara education would be. If I was to make a list of the most important things kids need to know, capybaras would not be at the top of the list 😂
@@ScottysAnimals hey, remember I'm running on outdated information here last time I saw a capybara was at a zoo in NJ and someone ask if you can have them as a pet that where I got that Information from
Sounds like they’re super different in many ways! They’re both cute have similar diets and just almost similar in looks 🥰
I had fun learning the differences and the things they have in common!
@@ScottysAnimals The guinea piggies of course. They are a 10 plus and the cappies are a 9. 🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹
Great video Scotty, I think the US should have much stricter animal welfare laws. ❤
Scotty, you should add Vegas Friends of Guinea Pig Rescue to your list 😊
Yes I absolutely need to, I think they are on the list of updates when I do my website and I'm going to do it very soon
Thanks for metrics 🎉🎉❤
Of course, 😅
On the other hand I call capybaras "oversized guinea pigs".

Thanks for the comparisons.. I enjoyed looking at the Capybaras at the zoo but they only had one.
Great video scotty!! Appreciate all your work
Haha nice capybara from kona_and_suba
They act the same. I watched enough of them to know & their movements & cornpop dance
That was a great video, Scotty! Super cute to see them side by side and learn about capybaras.
Thanks Jennifer! ❤️
GREAT VIDEO SCOTTY. I learned a lot!
I love capys almost as much as I love guineas, but they are wild animals. There are some similarities, but keeping them as pets is unfair.
the video was very nice and informative, thank you scotty!

The top difference. Everything freaks out a Guinea Pig. Nothing freaks out a Capybara. They are the masters of chill
Crinkle bags being the exception

Capybaras are super cute. BUT: Where are the pet capyparas coming from caught in the wild or bred under horrible conditions?
That's a good question.
Do a Rat Difference. To me Capys are more of a Rat
Lol I will look into it
