I'm a die hard louisville fan but this is one of my all time favorite basketball runs by a team great group to watch

Yeah no kidding, as a South Carolina Fan it’s a real shame that Thornwell got sick before playing Gonzaga, had he been 100% I think we would have won

I am a giant Sindarius Thornwell fan because of this season and final 4 run. This was incredible to watch...
As a Gamecock fan,the Duke win was special,but the Florida win was the most impressive. Because when you get that far ,a conference opponent becomes your most feared adversary. They know you the best.
Quick story: I was interning at Blackbird Studios in Nashville during this run. I was sporting my Gamecock gear when none other than Darius Rucker was tracking there. He saw me in the lounge and legit said "How bout them Damn GAMECOCKS!" and dapped me up. Talked about the Duke game the night before. Was an incredible time. Without a doubt, some of the best TEAM basketball I've ever seen. Emotionally and physically. Can't come close to matching that feeling. Forever to thee. Thanks for sharing.
That's outstanding - Martin is a great coach, we only missed this year because of the losses to the draft, 3 guys dumped by Martin for being stupid and Felder on disciplinary bench, he'll be back next year, but Martin is to basketball what Spurrier was to football, maybe better. Spurs up, rep the Garnet & Black in Vol-land.

This was such a special run and such a fun group of players to watch. I realize full well the challenges a team like South Carolina faces to ever accomplish something like this and, as a fan, I'm glad I got to witness it.
How are these guys under the radar all year? They didn't even get a vote for honorable mention in the rankings.

Every time the announcers said "first time this or that" I rolled my eyes. McGuire had us deep in the tournament prior to its expansion. And one our best teams ever that went undefeated in the ACC regular season was left out of the NCAA tournament because you had to win your conference tournament at the time. I mean you go undefeated in the ACC and your All-American is lost to injury in the semifinal, but still no NCAA bid due to the archaic rules of the tournament at the time. If you ever want to see how sports are a part of one's life look up the Bobby Cremins interview about that undefeated team. After the loss to NCST in the tournament championship game he basically went AWOL. When he won his second ACC title as a coach in Charlotte, NC he had the bus driver drive over to the arena the tournament he lost in as a player. He told off the arena and said he got his championship. I still wonder if that team gets in, wins the NCAA title over UCLA , and what happens as an independent school for the next decade or so.
Also Carolina Coliseum was hosting a regional that year. To be able to may be play at home would have been huge. It was the last time Columbia hosted the NCAA tournament prior to 2019! Almost 50 years!

carsonc29 who said that they didn’t deserve it? I think The Gamecocks deserved it more because the NCAA invited us to the tournament in 2015 then said that they made a mistake and withdrew the invite.
