Me too. I even went to the factory in 2010 to pick up this bus here, among other Volvo's. 10-13 years old it was much worse. Volvo B10BLE and some B12BLE got scrapped after only 6-7 years in service.
How did you get so close? Did you bring the busses to the scrapyard, or did you work there? Normally scrapyards do not allow people from outside to film the scrapping.
What à waste 10 year old buses being scrapped when could have been sold to Eastern Europe where would have lasted another 10 to 20 years in service....
Volvo 8500 B12BLE/B7RLE, Volvo 8700 B12BLE, MAN lions city NL313 CNG, NG313, NG323, NL283, Volvo 7500/bi-artic B9SA, Volvo 5000A B10LA-52 CNG and Den Oudsten B93/B96 those were my regular buses untill I moved to the Uk.
Buses are scrapped when contracts expires - or if the bus requires expensive repairs, in this case here, the rear diff needed replacement and the contract runs out in June 21, so they replaced it with a 2009' Volvo B7RLE that was earmarked for scrap.
It was much worse in the late 2000's. Buses as young as 6-7 years old got scrapped, but I didn't have access to the scrap yards like I do today, so no chance to document it. 2001'-2002' Volvo B10BLE were withdrawn in 2007-08 and scrapped. 2005' Volvo B12BLE were scrapped in 2012'. The list goes on..
As a Volvo B12BLE fan, this hurts even more than the OmniLink.
