please wear something else in contest other than that field uniform -- please ? and maybe try another type of dance and music--- change is good -- your routines all look the same It's time to modernize a bit -- my old team used to be a real drill team -- did their own music and field routines, and dance -- but they modernized and just dance now, they gave up the trumpets and drums --- and survived, even better
Their precision is impeccable but I kept >>’ing looking for when the interesting part would start, music would pick up, costumes would suddenly morph- anything- and then realized I was at the end 😮… I’m ok. These girls are SUPER talented but are not done justice by any part of this presentation. Or maybe it’s just not my cup of tea.
So, to play devil’s advocate here, in my opinion, their kind of music and dance is kind of what makes their team unique. To modernize and get rid of that would essentially make them just like every other drill team out there. Not everything needs to be modernized or contemporary. Some things should be allowed to stay timeless.
Let's Be Honest Here Guys... Including the story about the team: "The Woodlands High School Highsteppers have the same uniforms, the same shoes, and the same slow high-kicks as they did when the team started in 1976. Even the difficulties of the pandemic didn’t change the dance team’s goals and priorities" That's why the Highsteppers Hasn't changed since after they founded it around 1976, you know there is so Many Real Drill Team are changed Lots during History with their Old Uniform to New Uniform, The Hats and the Boots, They Dress up like that, Especially They do some Real Dance Moves, But now The Highsteppers didn't get to changed and the Dance are very so slow! D: And Besides My Alumni (Duncanville High school), We also have a Drill Team Called "High Hats", They Been Around since 1963, They Used The Satins Uniform and Top Hats for their tradition to come, buy however, after I graduated from high school, One of the director Decided to retired, Sooo, they hired a new High Hats Director, and everything was changed... was the original Satins Uniform was replaced by new Uniform and New Satins Uniform, New Boots, and they actually keep the Top Hats for their tradition going! I hopefully in the future for the Woodlands Highsteppers, I might they will changed for new Just Like The Duncanville High Hats Drill Team did for over 3 years after I graduated from high school, but I like how the Highsteppers dance are very slow, but I hope they will get changed as a their Real Drill Team Goes for The Woodlands Highsteppers :(
The beginning was a little intense but very cool and impressive!

They are so impressive. It would be nice to see more variety from them. The contemporary dance in black unitards was very cool.
