The electric fence won't harm you. In fact, there's a spot where you can hop the fence. If your clever enough, you can draw some of the enemies in the queen's gardens toward the royal guard and get them to kill the guards. That way you can get one of them fancy bear skinned hats they wear! ;)
Here's me thinking I'd be cooked like a hamburger. I'm guessing there's a quest that will take me inside at some point. And I do have that noise to investigate.

Wasn't sure about professor Griswold but a Google search turned up professor Grizwald, a Minecraft character. Ties in with the downward arrow.
