    I love it !! Where can I find the Rustic looking poles? Thanks for an awesome video. That is so cool !!! Cant wait to start mine. Do you have any idea, how many palm fronds you used for this project. I started cutting the barbs off of mine already with a Carpenters carpet knife. Is that how you cleaned your barbs off as well? Thanks again. I do plan to install a ceiling fan under mine, so I have to build a brace for that as well.

      Sorry for not replying sooner, we use Sabal Palm leaves cut from the deep woods, they do not have Barb's on them.

    Valuable skill set! what's the life of this in Florida? I imagine the shingles were prepared with the nail in place before the started? What size nail and type. Possible to do this with Saw Palmetto and Bamboo stock?

    • @amandarodriguez1404
      @amandarodriguez1404 2 года назад

      The framing we use is pressure treated wood, the fresh sabal palm leaves will last 5-8 years before needing to be rethatched. Bamboo doesnt work very well because of nailing in the leaves individually cracks the bamboo. and the weight of all the leaves. Saw palmetto leaves are much smaller.

    Wondering how once you have filled in the 4 sections of pie with palm leaves, how do you finish that last section from on top? Especially as you come to a very small opening left at the top of those pie sections?

    • @SuncoastTikiHutsandtikibars
      @SuncoastTikiHutsandtikibars  4 года назад

      You need to keep going around the pole with leaves , cutting the stems to about 3" and bending them so they fit snug around the pole. Last leaves are cut to about 1" and piut around the pole at the top . We also use 4" nails nailing into the pole and bending over the stems on the last row.

    How long are the 1's, 2's, and 3's? Are 1's the shortest or longest?

    • @SuncoastTikiHutsandtikibars
      @SuncoastTikiHutsandtikibars  4 года назад

      1's are the shortest. You can sort out whatever sizes work best for your hut. It just helps keep the bottom row even.
