Very nice! I've always been impressed that GB Marble Madness is basically identical to the NES version (I guess the screen size is reduced, but otherwise...) Solar Striker is a stone cold classic, super fun and satisfying. Excited to see it on any list. I'm a Lode Runner fan which is why I originally got the GB cartridge... Never beat all the levels though; the concept is always challenging. But the GB is a pretty faithful experience, again, if you discount the screen size.
Sneaky Snakes looked exactly like my kind of game so I went to a certain Lair owned by a V-person and they have it to play in browser and it is SO FUN! Thank you :)
That Burai Fighter game looks very impressive & never heard of this game before mate! The Game Boy system was the best handheld ever made & dominated the handheld wars for years here!
I picked up RC Pro Am last year on Game Boy. I was amazed at how it stacked up to the NES version, which I loved when I was growing up; I was even super stoked to play it when Rare Replay came out.
I always wanted to see people make videos like this. Unfortunately it's probably a bit harder to get good deals like these here in the US but it's good to hear about some cool unique games! You should do one for NES games
Solar Striker is really cool; I’d been looking for it for ages and only managed to find it recently. It’s also one of the few first-party original game boy games that has a special colour palette built into the game boy colour, so it looks incredibly cool if you play it on a GBC or GBA! It has this black, yellow and dark blue colour scheme that looks absolutely gorgeous.
i was a awesome at Lode Runner as a kid, but like you when i tried Hyper Lode Runner on the GB i was like a NEWB, so awful at it. Every time i see a video on Lode Runner i want to play it again because it was so much apart of my childhood. Still haven't mastered it like i did as a kid. Going to try again this weekend that is for sure! Why have i not heard of Fortress of Fear on the GB that looks like a game i would enjoy! Going to have to pick that game up! Thanks for the Retro Break...Good Bye!
Great video idea, makes it really easy to pickup a handful of interesting games without breaking the bank. Will likely jot these down on my phone and start looking for them at my local retro game stores.
I only picked up Fortress of Fear the other day - not many have good things to say about it so this video was refreshing. It's an underrated game for sure.
Hope it helps :) 0:18 Mercenary Force 1:04 Sneaky Snakes 2:31 Burai Fighter 4:01 Revenge of The Gator 5:08 Marble Madness 6:10 Solar Striker 7:25 Super R.C. Pro-Am 8:48 Hyper Lode Runner 10:05 GameBoy Gallery 11:24 Wizards & Warriors X: Fortress of Fear So many good games ohhh
I just discovered Chikyū Kaihō Gun ZAS, it's basically Solar Striker two! Same developers I think. Solar Striker is one of my all time favorites so I was super excited check it out!!
I remember Mercenary Force and Burai Fighter were ubiquitous when I were a lad. I knew a bunch of people that had them. Gargoyle's Quest was another that everyone seemed to have. Maybe that's why they're so cheap now in Europe. Marble Madness was probably made by Rare also. Would Space Fever (1979) count as a Nintendo vertical shooter?
Solar Striker I keep going back to for a quick shmup fix. I will have to look into Burai Fighter. There are some great sub tenner games out there. Do the same for GBC games
The biggest of gripe about Burai Fighter is, however, that it doesn't work properly on any generation of GameBoy after first gen (so does not work on Color or Advance). If you search 'burai fighter deluxe gbc compatibility' you will see what I mean. However, however, there is a re-worked version that was released for Color, under a new name: Space Marauder.
Many, many hours were spent on the Nintendo 4-in-1 Game & Watch. I was good at the octopus game, rubbish at the rest. Playing as Mario or another Nintendo character made all the difference to me compared to the classic option.
I have a technical question about Burai Fighter, wonder if anyone reading this can answer: There's a glitch in the GB version that makes you randomly die at certain parts when playing the cartridge on a GBC or GBA. It doesn't happen on Analogue Pocket but does it happen on Chromatic? Just wondering since Chromatic essentially mimics a GBC. Anyway, some great games here. Surprised these are still so cheap over there.
problem is, nobody is playing retro games just to play lesser known titles. so yea. the majority of games are not expensive, but at the same timer the games we want to play are.
BURAI FIGHTER is bugged if you try to play it on a GAMEBOY ADVANCE, you'll get random instant deaths on Boss Fights, in fact if memory serves you can't get past the 2nd Boss, something to this day nobody has ever explained as to why, must be a hardware thng?
Marble Madness brings back so many memories. Great content thank you.
First game’s cover art is splendid.
You're splendid!
@@paper_gemNo, YOU're breathtaking!

It's quite good, one of the underwater level songs has been living rent-free in my head for years now.

Game Boy was insane! There were games coming out in the 2000’s that were still compatible with the original 1989 console!

Fortress of Fear is amazing! Played it with my brothers over the holidays on a Super Gameboy and we went until we beat it, mapping out the levels etc.
This video was great for me because some of the games I had never heard of and so it was kind of like a hidden gems video for me. Thank you!

Same on the Super Game Boy which is how I recorded it here :) always cool to find out some original games with unique built in colour palettes!

Nice video. Themed game lists are great for discovering new stuff
I love ur positive attitude ☺️

Man, I love the GameBoy!
Not ashamed to admit as a 42 year old I have spent more hours on Vermin than I care to add up. Great video Nick 👌
A few great games i will be picking up, thank you sir 👌
I have been looking for a video like this!
I only picked up Fortress of Fear the other day - not many have good things to say about it so this video was refreshing. It's an underrated game for sure.
This video rules dude! I'm off to the Leeds Gaming Market next Sunday so I'll be keeping an eye out for some of these! Nice work 🤘🏻
I'd love to see more Gameboy content 🙏 whether that be GB, GBC or GBA!
Awsome videos man 👍
Nice list of games on this. Im tempted to check out that pinball game and this version of Marble Madness 🙂
A lot of these games look really cool. Would love to see a similar video for DS titles!
The NES version of Burai Fighter is one of my childhood faves! I still haven't tried the GB one. It did get a GBC version later under a different name
Oh I didn’t know there was a GBC one too! I’ll check it out :)
I love Lode Runner, I had no idea there was a GameBoy game!
Hope it helps :)

Great channel!!
And happy new year Nick and a great list to see some games I also own :D
If you want an idea, I'd absolutely be into the opposite of this: expensive games that just aren't very good!
Mercenary Force looks like that mobile game they show in ads where people always choose the wrong powerup.
🤘

i like lists like these, hidden, cheap gems. most of the time if a retro game sells for peanuts your reaction is that it must be bad.

I’m already planning the GBC one :)
@@RetroBreak For GBC, David O'Leary's Total Soccer is unironically one of the best soccer games ever made IMHO
Shouldn’t surprise you that the only one of these I own is GameBoy Gallery 😂
Those snakes look sneaky

Hi, could you do a cider buying guide next week ?
The first one plays like Zelda four swords.
Kind of, except it auto scrolls
