Yeah if it would make you feel better you can always go to iCloud.com as long as you see the photos there then they are fully backed up. The erase function only removes everything from the phone. Not from iCloud.
Hello so what i want to know is that somehow i can not log off from messenger from my old phone, what i want to know is that does erease cleares that? like does earising a phone deletes and clears that kind of information too?
this will clear everything from the phone. Now if you have iCloud Messages on those messages should be accessible on a new phone but once you perform these steps on a phone. This phone will be like it was new with non of your data on it.
i think i forgot to sign out of my icloud prior to selling but i erase all content and settings. i removed the old device from my icloud account on my new device though. will that make sure they cant access my icloud? thanks
Yep and they couldn’t access your account without a password and probably 2 factor. The reason I recommend signing out before hand is just to make sure when they do set it up it’s not locked for them to sign into their account.
So did you trigger the erase from icloud instead of on device? Do you still have access to the device? Te device probably just needs to be booted up and connect tote internet through WiFi or cellular and then it can start the erasing process.
I still have the device. I already transfered my data from my old phone to my new phone and triggered erase from icloud through my phone itself. In order to connect to wifi I think I'd have to set up the phone again as it went back to factory settings when I erased everything. I @@TheAppleBias

As long as you follow the step in the video for the old device nothing will be removed from the new one or the iPads. You will definitely want to erase the old one so when you sell it it doesn’t have access to all your photos and iCloud login data.
I erased all infos but i didn’t sign out from iCloud i already sold it but i just saw my iPhone on the iCloud devices list so i removed it after two days but i already took some pictures So will the photos and the new pics will still be there or erasing the iPhone did automatically sign me out of the iCloud
As long as the phone was restored the photos would have been synced to the device. And once you removed it from iCloud it would have removed all items from it and make the new owner set it up as new.
Thank you for this video. You made it easy for me to follow along. I am giving my old phone to my grandson and wanted to make sure all my info was deleted.
In this video I take a couple extra steps just to verify everything goes smoothly. It should log you out before wiping but if something goes wrong they still wouldn’t have access to your data. Worst case they wouldn’t be able to setup the device. Without you having to follow the last step of removing the device from iCloud.com
Ive done the steps. When I go in to Icloud on my new IPhone, i still can see a icloud back up on the old phone im gonna sell. Should I delete the back up on my old Phone to?
Yeah the backup will stay for a while and may get deleted when you need more iCloud space, if you have a new backup of your new phone it should be safe to delete, but isn't necessary.
question, if I already have my new phone with all the data do I still have to back it up before I delete everything? I dont want to pay for it if I dont have to
Yeah as long as there isn’t anything on the device that you want you don’t have to back it up. I would make sure all your photos have fully synced over before just wiping it. They give you the option to skip backup during the erase process. I know iCloud space is pretty costly. You can also go into Settings app the tap the picture at the top click iCloud and in that list is a backups section where you can see what devices backups are currently stored in case you want to remove and make room for others.
When I erased my apple ID it didn't say "removing" it said "copying" and after erasing all content and data, it says "erase pending" in icloud on my PC. My phone is still there but pending erase and not sure what to do.
Hey there I just want to make it clear, Does resetting my old iPhone affect my new iPhone using with the same Apple ID? Will it affect my data in new iPhone after erasing it from the old one ?
No if you've already made the back up and restored the new phone from that back up nothing you do from the old phone will effect anything on the new one.
You can do it or it will do it during the reset process and at the end I added an extra step to verify it was removed. Cause if the connection fails it could fail to remove it.
Could be a couple things. There was a software bug a little while back. So you may need to check and update the iPhone first. Or it could just be that you’re not connected to the internet. The iPhone just needs to verify things before erasing.
Yeah before you sign out of iCloud it usually forces you to turn off find my. The step at the end is just an extra verification step as well to make sure nothing went wrong and it was removed.
Follow the last step with the iCloud stuff it will let you remove it without them having to return the device. Just make sure you select the right phone.
It should prompt you to do it as long as the watch is unlocked and on your wrist. But you can always unpair it first just to be safe. I will make sure to add that to my next one.
i did all the steps and erased the data from "Erase and content and settings" just like the video but forgot to do the step where you said sign out of icloud would that mean the new owner somehow could access my account and photo and videos !!? btw i found the iphone in my accounts after i sold it and i clicked on Remove device, pllz tell me im good to go
and i checked the phone after i erased it, and sat it up again it was like brand new, but my Q is if i forgot the step of "sign out of icloud" but i erased the phone, would that somehow give him access to my phone or account ??!! i hope you understand what im trying to explain here Lol
Your good. If you clicked remove in iCloud then you are good and they wouldn’t have access to your stuff. Apple just wouldn’t have let the new owner set up the device at all.
@@TheAppleBias so i did not sign out when I erased the data, but i sat up the phone to make sure its good and it was empty, however, the new phone “13 mini” shows my old phone “12 mini” on i cloude and when i saw it i removed it
Yeah usually when you wipe the device it does sign you out of iCloud but sometimes there is a glitch which is why I added the sign out step first. But the removing def gets it off there.
The iCloud is just checking to make sure it’s no longer connected to iCloud. As long as it’s gone you’re good. If it still there then you can remove it just to make sure the new owner doesn’t have issues setting it up.
If they made a backup of the device before wiping it and restore it on a new one they should recover everything. Pictures, calendars and contacts should be accessible via iCloud.com
When I logged out of iCloud. I was on Home Screen and my pictures and wallpaper were still there. Is this normal and will erasing the settings get rid of it?
Yeah logging out of iCloud doesn’t erase a bunch it may remove calendar items and stuff like that. But it’s good to do just to make sure it happens and then when you erase everything goes back to as it was when you first bought the phone.
You may have to either download the cell providers app. Or contact them and they should be able to get the eSIM setup on the new device for you. I use Visible and they have it build into the app. I am not sure what other services do.
if i do the erase option, does it mean that all instagram, snapchat and other app passwords will be removed so the new owner will not have the chance to log in ur account?
Oops! I bought a new iphone last week that I found to be faulty, after setting it all up with all of my details etc. I didn't know that I had to sign out of icloud but went straight to erase everything, then sent it back. Hopefully it will be ok but now I'm a bit worried.
Should be fine in most cases it signs out but there can be issues which is why I have it mentioned in my video. If you look at the 5 min mark I talk about how to check and make sure it was fully removed from iCloud.
I’m going to sell my iPhone 7 Plus to buy a new iPhone 11 But I’m really scared if the new owners use some kind of programs to restore my old data,my Question is if I go step by step like you showed on the video is it 100% safe? To sell it ?
First off I am no data recovery expert. But with how well Apple keeps the data encrypted it’s not something I ever worry about. It’s not like an SD card where all the files are easily accessible if you plug it in to a computer. Everything is super encrypted.
This video is the ultra cautious approach just to make sure everything gets done correctly. If the phone is being replaced backing up means you can setup a new phone with the backup and have everything on it that the old one did.
It will delete all the photos from this device. But if you use iCloud all the photos that were backup will still be on those devices. If you want to get rid of all your photos in iCloud. I bet there is a way to do it on iCloud.com.

If the device is still connected to iCloud you can sign in to iCloud.com find it under the FindMy section and erase the device from there. If not there is no way for you to make sure it gets erased. I’d say you’d still have a good chance they’d erase it without going through the pictures first but I am not sure what their processes are.
Yes cause all the apps I tied to your account with all your personal info. No real easy way around that to leave the twitter app on there without exposing you data in some way.
Are you selling it for parts? Everything is encrypted. In the iCloud setting I show you how to remove it from iCloud remotely there is also a wipe device option in there too for if/ when someone gets it to boot up.
This was way too complicated for me someone that is a Luddite you moved so fast and there are so many steps I don’t know if I will even be able to do it
Has anyone forgot to set their cell phone back to factory reset before recycling? I always wondered. What if the SIM card is moved to new phone? Is the old phone safe?
Thank you. This video is great! Can I just check, does this remove all voice memos and notes, also? And, for my peace of mind... After doing this process, is anything recoverable? I keep reading that there is 3rd party software that can still hack the phone, but in other places, I am reading that's impossible (unless you're with the fbi or similar). Is this very secure? Thank you!
Yeah it’s not something I would worry about cause anything that was on was already super secured and now it’s wiped too just make it even harder. I’ve not heard of anyone without the users Apple ID info being able to gain access to their data. I mean the FBI had to take Apple to court to try to get data and even then lost if I recall.
@@TheAppleBias Thank you so much for such a kind, patient and fast reply!! You're amazing. Can i just follow up with the first question and make sure this "erase all content and settings" remove all voice memos and notes, also? No as long as there is enough space in your iCloud to store all them and the backup of the iPhone. Then when you wipe your phone it will all still be on iCloud.
So employee has lost their phone (we've cancelled that contract/#) - we have another phone from an ex-employee we cant to give to the employee who lost their phone. We've signed out of Apple ID, didn't save any data, but when we try to set the phone up with the revised Apple ID, it wants to send a verification code to the original phone (which is LOST) - or, send a text message to a trusted number (which is the number on the phone - LOST). Is there any way to get around that? Tried logging in to the apple account online to add a different trusted number; can't access that without . . . you guessed it . . . dual factor authentication! Any suggestions?
That’s a rough one. Guessing there is saved data on that AppleID that you need? I’d first try reaching out to apple support to see if they have another way around it if not maybe call the carrier and see if you can get that old number back (even just temporarily on another phone)

and i checked the phone after i erased it, and sat it up again it was like brand new, but my Q is if i forgot the step of "sign out of icloud" but i erased the phone, would that somehow give him access to my phone or account ??!! i hope you understand what im trying to explain here Lol
Your good. If you clicked remove in iCloud then you are good and they wouldn’t have access to your stuff. Apple just wouldn’t have let the new owner set up the device at all.
@@TheAppleBias so i did not sign out when I erased the data, but i sat up the phone to make sure its good and it was empty, however, the new phone “13 mini” shows my old phone “12 mini” on i cloude and when i saw it i removed it
@@TheAppleBias so im woundring why it showed in my icloud to begin with if i “format” erased the phone “mini 12” the old phone
Yeah usually when you wipe the device it does sign you out of iCloud but sometimes there is a glitch which is why I added the sign out step first. But the removing def gets it off there.
What happens if you didn’t delete the device from your iCloud ? But did factory reset on the phone twice it was all wiped when I double check
The iCloud is just checking to make sure it’s no longer connected to iCloud. As long as it’s gone you’re good. If it still there then you can remove it just to make sure the new owner doesn’t have issues setting it up.
Thank you so much for your help and how easily you explained it . 😊
If i delete it from icloud well my stuff which i backed up in icloud also get removed nd cant back up my data from icloud ?
No you can remove the iPhone from the find my section as long as you have already backed it up to iCloud that backup will still be there
@@TheAppleBias thanks u brother 🥰
@princemj5113 happy to help.
superb, simple and clear, thanks!
Glad it helped!
Thank you! Really easy and helpful
Glad it helped!
Can people still recover personal things from your phone even after selling it? Even after wiping it?
If they made a backup of the device before wiping it and restore it on a new one they should recover everything. Pictures, calendars and contacts should be accessible via iCloud.com
When I logged out of iCloud. I was on Home Screen and my pictures and wallpaper were still there. Is this normal and will erasing the settings get rid of it?
Yeah logging out of iCloud doesn’t erase a bunch it may remove calendar items and stuff like that. But it’s good to do just to make sure it happens and then when you erase everything goes back to as it was when you first bought the phone.
Thanks super easy!
Can we transfer esim if the old phone data is already erased?
Plzz reply
You may have to either download the cell providers app. Or contact them and they should be able to get the eSIM setup on the new device for you. I use Visible and they have it build into the app. I am not sure what other services do.
if i do the erase option, does it mean that all instagram, snapchat and other app passwords will be removed so the new owner will not have the chance to log in ur account?
Yeah it removes all data other than the operating system itself. All apps are gone and all users data is removed.
If my new phone is already set up and everything is already moved to it do I still need to back up my old phone?
Well I’d personally still do it just to make sure all the photos on it gets transferred over to iCloud.
It worked. Thanks buddy!
Glad to hear it helped.
@@TheAppleBias Thank you very much that was so helpful !
I did nottt get an hello screen, I did all the steps and it still takes me back into my phone will all my data
Perfect. Thank you for walking me through that! It was easy to follow.
So glad to hear and thanks for taking the time to let me know, means a lot.
Thanks mate,it was really helpful ,Love from India 😊
Glad to hear.
Why we need backup first?
This video is the ultra cautious approach just to make sure everything gets done correctly. If the phone is being replaced backing up means you can setup a new phone with the backup and have everything on it that the old one did.
@@TheAppleBias Thank you
No problem. Happy to help.
Does This Delete Most Of Your Photos & Never Cone Back & Don’t Show Up On The Computer When You Put Some Photos On
It will delete all the photos from this device. But if you use iCloud all the photos that were backup will still be on those devices. If you want to get rid of all your photos in iCloud. I bet there is a way to do it on iCloud.com.
@@TheAppleBias I Don’t Even Have ICloud I Can Not Afford It Really
Apple give you 5gbs for free not much at all but there could still be some images store there.
I do agree tho iCloud is too expensive. For the amount you get.
@@TheAppleBias Okay So Without ICloud You Can’t Get Old Photos Back That We’re Deleted? Even When You Post Pics On Computer They Won’t Show Up There Permanently Gone
I don,t want to cell my phone but I do want to get apple music and get app store to work and get my You Tube working again to how do you do that?
What’s your phone doing that none of these things work?
Help I trade my iPhone 14 Pro Max to AT&T but I didn’t delete all my photos in gallery just handed to the representative lady and ask before leaving is it erase and she said yeah stupid me I didn’t think of it because I’m thinking it will be sold and refurbished anyway pls pls help me will photos will be totally erase when sent to refurbished company 😢
If the device is still connected to iCloud you can sign in to iCloud.com find it under the FindMy section and erase the device from there. If not there is no way for you to make sure it gets erased. I’d say you’d still have a good chance they’d erase it without going through the pictures first but I am not sure what their processes are.
Does erasing the phone also remove all the apps? I want to sell my phone with the old twitter app
Yes cause all the apps I tied to your account with all your personal info. No real easy way around that to leave the twitter app on there without exposing you data in some way.
My old phone won’t turn on. But i want it cleared to sell it. How can I do this ?
Are you selling it for parts? Everything is encrypted. In the iCloud setting I show you how to remove it from iCloud remotely there is also a wipe device option in there too for if/ when someone gets it to boot up.
Best video I found to sell my phone!! Ty!! Appreciate u man!!!
So glad it was able to help. Thanks for taking the time to let me know!
What if no sim inserted as now in new phone ?
Great video!
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
This was way too complicated for me someone that is a Luddite you moved so fast and there are so many steps I don’t know if I will even be able to do it
I’m sorry. Tried to be as detailed as possible. I’d recommend just pausing the video after every step if needed.
@@TheAppleBias I will just have to have my brother help me who understands computers like you
Has anyone forgot to set their cell phone back to factory reset before recycling? I always wondered. What if the SIM card is moved to new phone? Is the old phone safe?
You can check out this video it will help you double check that your old device is fully removed from iCloud. ruclips.net/video/K_nnSanA6w0/видео.html
THANKYOU SO MUCH . this really helps me a lot ❤️
So glad to hear! Thanks for taking the time to let me know.
Hello can i make step 4 at the first?
Can you clarify what you mean by that?
It’s 2024 and your video helped me, thank you so much.
So glad to hear that it did.
Thank You it worked❤️
So glad to hear. Thanks for taking the time to let me know. Love getting these comments.
I apologise for being so naive/ignorant about this, but do hugely appreciate you.
You are good no worries at all yes it will erase all that data as well. It wipes everything but the operating system.
@@TheAppleBias Thank you so much. What a lovely person, and such patience! I have subscribed.
Thanks. Love this stuff and being able to help.
I signed out but I don’t
know the next step to it
It’s all there in the video. Once you backup then sign out next step should be starting the erase process.
THANKS! X
Welcome!
very precise in just a few minutes
Mine says it will be removed in a month from now ….. and it is still locked by me
And it still shows up on iCloud and doesn’t let you remove it there? ytlink.app/HE0Rme7OD
Does removing my iPhone from my iCloud will erase my photos and contacts from my iCloud account?
Thank you for the great and easy to understand video, worked perfectly.
Glad it helped!
So it’s supposed say locked to owner?
Are you not the owner. If not you need to send this to the original owner because it’s still tied to their iCloud account. ruclips.net/video/K_nnSanA6w0/видео.htmlsi=5c47QpiI3RwHKwus
@@TheAppleBias I am the owner and it still says that after transferred to my new phone. Transfer completed and a option said erase phone but still says that
