Thank you so much for this video it helps me a lot! I am in the middle of purchasing a TT Supra from JDM Expo for 2018. Now I have more questions for them to answer to make me feel more comfortable about importing it.
Also Just a heads up on the TT brakes, the TRUE OEM calipers will have a stamp on them that says sumitomo or something like that. if it doesn't have that stamp, then it isn't a true OEM caliper and not worth the $800-$900 that they get sold for.
Tyvm for the video. This makes me hessitate hehe. Heck i even did that back when the supra was not all that expensive but its been a long dream of mine to own one. I'm looking at a n/a atm, seems pretty stock. It doesn't have a single thing i really want in a Supra doe so that makes it even harder haha. Do you perhaps know how the Japanese market is? My sister lives over there so i might go car shopping there instead when corona has calmed down. Perhaps i could even get the Supra of my dreams then.
Thanks Ryan for your videos, always learning something from you, much appreciated, keep up the excellent work, and good luck with the twins , hope all is well 🙏. Talk about expensive parts. I’ve owned a JDM 1998 NA Supra for 2.5 years now, it’s pretty much stock except for a nice HKS Drager exhaust and a full Veilside body kit. , It’s no beast but such a fun daily driver car ♥️. I’m looking to change the front bumper back to OEM and have recently sourced a brand new factory painted (Quick Silver, like yours ?) Toyota front bumper in Japan. To get it shipped to Australia, I’m looking at a tad over $3000 AUD. Yep expensive plastic
Did you buy your supra local? I think Ive seen you out driving before...*wont mention the area* Anyway I am looking to buy a MK4 in the next year or so. Thanks!
Huge thank you for this vid man, i'm currently looking for a Mk4 supra but they are getting hard to find on the east coast. I need help finding the mintiest and cheapest one.
im kinda afraid of buying one now due all the discontinued stuff. but i guess its a big aftermarket for it (ive seen carbon fiber inner panels for doors)
Hey man was your car an original 6sp. TT? Or was it a N/A that you converted?.. it's a beautiful car and she looks like a absolute blast to drive.. well done!!
PURE Function is that the way you would go about it if you had to do it all over again? Saving the money on a factory tt/6sp by going with a N/A and then converting it to what you want? Was yours an automatic of 5sp? I know the 2jzgte isn't hard to find but aren't the factory 6sp transmission very difficult to come by? Sorry for all the questions bro, I'm seriously considering getting into the Supra game. If it's not worth it I may get back into another RX7.. thanks for your time man. Be safe
That wheel is from a 97-98 supra, but the rav 4 also has a similar wheel. This is NOT the celica wheel, as plenty of supra guys also replace the stock 4 spoke w the 3 spoke from the celicas. Believe it or not but 99-02 corollas, 02+?celicas, and matrix also use the same wheel. The nice ones are the leather ones with red stitching.
What do you think about turbocharging a 2JZ-GE with some arp head studs and a new head gasket? Would it be enough or should I do some headwork? What about the stock intake manifold, would it be usable or should I just buy a new better one. I've read that the stock GE bottom end itself can handle at least 700whp and my goal would be, let's say 500whp. If you could answer to some of my guestions that would help me alot. The thing is that I'd have to get an na supra because of the cost. Cheapest MKIV na is near 6K€ here while the cheapest turbo MKIV is +19K€..
ThatSubieGuy when it comes to boosting a ge you end up wasting the same as if you would have swapped in a gte and the get is more reliable just go all out of you really want boost
You need wither forged internals or a gte man trust me the ge's areweak they fan handle 400 hp probably. Youd have to do a lot. Gte manifolds wont fit youll have to drill a oil feed in your block, also no oil squirters, also higher compression which makes it less reliable for boost. Youll need a nee ecu as well, and pbviously a turbo. Youll need a n/a to turbo kit if you want the manifold and everything to fit. And on top of that ypull need a nee teanny probably at 500hp dude... my w58 blew at 500hp really fast, i just seappes in a r154 tho. Seriously though you arent gonna be happy if you boost a ge unless you spend hella mkney. If its so cheap just buy a gte man. Save way more money that way.
Alright I paused the vid at 1:01 you lose some cool points. I thought I could let you slide but I can't my man Keystone light ain't nobody got time for that if you don't get a bud ice, light, or Budweiser in your hand asap.
There is a car dealership close to me which focusses on importing JDM cars and sells Supra from 12k€ (Non-turbo) to 50k€+ (Twin 6s), is it trustworthy to just buy one from dealership if they focus on JDMs and have good ratings?
TJ Hunt on these days just buy a RHD 40K miles on it, one owner for 25 years for 50 Grands, I think that was a perfect deal. If one day you gonna consider sell your Supra, for how much it would be?
2018 Should reduce the cost of Supra's in the USA as they'll turn 25 and people will start importing them like hot cakes! I know i'll be importing my TT 6 speed from OZ to the U.S in 2018, Shipping etc will be 5000 USD.
Adders321 do research please a lot and go to Japan for a small trip and you'll be able to really get a look at what your buying and it's possible to save money on shipping including your expenses there
owning a evo or supra or skyline or any exotic car unless ur making $80-120k a year or more it aint worth it full body restoration a big turbo new rimsand tires a full exhaust and engine and lights and seats will run u over 40k on top of the $30-50 k u spend on buying a supra
Itz Just a $5000 USD car in Japan..!!! I can understand your condition as your in US.!!! These cars are sooo cheap and parts are also easily available...!!!
God I hate that so many of these parts are being discontinued...screw buying these new spaceship looking overpriced cars that makers are producing now.
Thank you so much for this video it helps me a lot! I am in the middle of purchasing a TT Supra from JDM Expo for 2018. Now I have more questions for them to answer to make me feel more comfortable about importing it.
Pete B same! Add me on insta @dalebreh lets talk
What a coincidence. I have been looking at JDM Spec for import next year. I wish you guys luck.
Wow me too getting mine for 29,700
Doggo who from?
with the tail lights I believe you can still buy the parts seperate but not the full assembly
Richard Pierre the assembly is discontinued but tail light fixtures and harness can still be purchased separately.
Sounds more like you trying to scare us into not owning one lol

Just spend the money and buy one local. Great breakdown of things to look for! Awesome!!
You can actually buy carbon fiber door panels from seibon as well.

Tyvm for the video.
This makes me hessitate hehe.

I'd so make an offer on your car absoloutly in love with it but probably can't afford yours being a LHD
Did you buy your supra local? I think Ive seen you out driving before...*wont mention the area* Anyway I am looking to buy a MK4 in the next year or so. Thanks!
Now I'm definitely not buying one anymore
Jelly Much I know right?
same here..... but damn that
Oh and those brakes were standard on all series 1, na and tt
Interesting! I currently own a s1 JDM RZ and it has the 'small' brakes. It does have the B series LSD and v160 though
I think the top of the line TT's in japan RZ-S had the big brake calibers
Huge thank you for this vid man, i'm currently looking for a Mk4 supra but they are getting hard to find on the east coast. I need help finding the mintiest and cheapest one.
Look up brooklyn auto sales thats where i got mine
im kinda afraid of buying one now due all the discontinued stuff. but i guess its a big aftermarket for it (ive seen carbon fiber inner panels for doors)
A random swede plays it's a bitch, he's referring to OEM parts. It ain't a cheap hobby lol

His is 5 speed w58, which is risky with a single turbo. W58 grenades at around 400hp.
Pretty sure your steering wheel is from a Celica
Strange, all the late model Supras I have seen have a four spoke wheel. Also google Celica steering wheel, looks identical to yours
+swervedriver It is not a celica steering wheel...
It's the same steering wheel used on my 98' GT4 I imported but the GT4's have red stitching
That wheel is from a 97-98 supra, but the rav 4 also has a similar wheel. This is NOT the celica wheel, as plenty of supra guys also replace the stock 4 spoke w the 3 spoke from the celicas. Love the video! Buying mine around July! Thanks, sub for life.

Alex Villalobos in Australia they're like Max 20k for a stock used
TJ Hunt on these days just buy a RHD 40K miles on it, one owner for 25 years for 50 Grands, I think that was a perfect deal. If one day you gonna consider sell your Supra, for how much it would be?
Dino tj did really good
