The Senior Recital of Madeline Best and Celia-Marie Bartholomew, from Suzanne Thorup's vocal studio, held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Vieve Gore Concert Hall at Westminster University.
I've been trying to build the difficult skill of self-accompaniment in live performance. This song is one of a few that I've performed while accompanying myself (and sometimes others) at various recitals. The other, and perhaps more difficult, challenge with this song was the vulnerability of it. Since it's a pop song, I couldn't hide behind a character, and I sang it as myself. Though it wasn't perfect, I think it was impactful to my audience, and I feel proud of myself.
