Yup, harley definitely has a unique sound. With the new milwaukee 8 do you feel like it lost the sound a bit, or not so much? The 2018 fatbob I had didn't have the typical harley sound. It was stock exhaust, but still sounded more like a metric to me. I'm sure that 117 is a monster! If I get a chance I'll try and take one of those for a spin next time around.
Now I wanna try another harley bagger. I swear the indian felt so much more spacious. The last harley bagger I had was a 2012 road glide, but I was flipping it so didn't ride it a tone and it's been a while.
I’ve had a HD & now an Indian Springfield & love it. I wouldn’t say it’s a Harley killer but it’s another great American made motorcycle. Ride safe all & let’s be thankful we can still swing our legs over the saddle 👍

I've owned 4 Harley's and still have a 48. I went down to a demo ride at the local Indian dealer on my streetglide. I rode everything they had on the truck and ended up trading my glide in for a Chieftain Classic that day. IMO the Indian rides so much smoother than the glide. But, I'll never get rid of my 48. I love both brands.
@@GunnyBB0369 ------> This because the Indian 111 uses a higher grade, Fox mono shock vs the cheap Chinese dual shocks ( not genuine HD shocks ) that come on the Street Glide.
I test road two indians this one exact and then the scout and i was thinking they were great bikes very modern then i get back on my harley to go home and realized how much better harleys feel.
@@JonsMotoGarage Yeah the tech and look on the Indians are so modern yet still have a nice classic cruiser style but to me its like comparing a classic car to a modern car.. Just something about it i prefer classic cars
That is the chandler ridenow, I've done a couple of demos out there. I also rode a 2019 white darkhorse with the 116 kit and upgraded sound system. It was awesome. The bike did not like going slow, very torquey. Throttle was smooth, handling was great. Played with the ride modes, there was a noticeable difference. Much better than any HD I've ridden. Current ride is a '10 victory cross country. Next bike will be an Indian.
Right on! I take it you're an az local? They told us not to mess with the different ride modes. Lol. I'll try to get out when Indian actually comes out and puts it on. This one was put on by ridenow so there weren't as many options. Thanks for watching and sharing! Ride safe!
I got a107 street glide. Haven’t ridden the chieftain. I really want to for comparison because I know the rear suspension is much better. I don’t mind having the 107 instead of the 114. I think it’s got more grunt off the line. The 114 to me felt smoother and more progressive with a ton of top end. But the 107 does 90mph+ like nothing. I came from a 103 Dyna street bob so that was crazy to me because that feels like you’re gonna die with the wrong movement at 80mph. The first time I took my flhxs to 80 it was just me cruising then looking at the speedo like oh shit! I better back off a little I’m in a 55 zone that’s flooded with cops. Baggers are awesome! I don’t think you can go wrong with Harley or Indian.
Nice! I imagine it's a much smoother ride! I have a dyna, and while I really dig it, it definitely doesnt get points for being smooth. Lol. Clunky gear box, rumbles like crazy, etc.
I just rode the 116 at a Indian Demo day here in SoCal, it might even have been that exact bike. I liked it a lot. I'm not sure I liked it more than my Street Glide though. The problem with Indian over Harley for me is that I like to accessorize and buy stuff for my bikes and there just isn't the support for Indian like there is for Harleys. If I was just going to run a stock or factory modified bike, I would for sure look at the Indian. My wife bought a 18 Scout and loves it.
I hear ya. Harley had so many aftermarket accessories available. Plus there are way more dealers in the event something goes awry while out on the road. I really want to get out the scout - big fan of the style. Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
It's so dope to see you go get a brand new bike....and just because you want it! Shit...you didn't end up buying it!! That Indian is dope!! I hope some day we cross paths...you remind me so much of me!!
Hahaha! I happened to be at the dealership cause they reached out and wanted to buy a cbr1000rr that I was selling at the time. I saw the demo tent and decided to check it out. Hit me up if you ever roll through az!
I have a 2015 Roadmaster with 167,000 miles on it. She's never left me stranded. Very low maintenance. Did the big bore kit at 100k and added a beefier clutch. I love it. I'll only buy another Indian. Great bike.
I ride a 2018 Heritage Softail with the 114 and it's smooth and nimble. The bike is about 35 pounds lighter than the 2017 all the way back to the beginning.
Nice! I love the ew 114! Finally got q chance to do some demo rides. Didn't get to ride te heritage, but the sport glide was the funnest of the bunch imo. Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
That's where I got my Indian. RideNow in Chandler! Indian's are, "drive by wire", that's why the throttles actually do something when you twist em'. Even the Scout is drive by wire. It's an encoder, no cable.
Nice! Shoutout to a local! yeah, the throttle took me a second to get used to but felt super smooth. I dig it for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
Great Video, I rode the Indian that looks like a Road King and it rode really nice. I curious to see if Harley does anything for 2020 with the Street Glide’s. But the Indian is a smooth riding bike!
I have a Harley electra glide standard M8 107 and I like it. I hope Indian does well and establishes a good nationwide dealership network because competition is good for the consumer. When it comes to baggers it's probably just a matter of personal preference with a street glide or a chieftain.
Just my opinion, but after having two Goldwing F6B's and one Goldwing, they just don't have soul. They do handle great, but the suspension is seriously dated with no front end adjustment. Yes, it is quick for a big bike, but I would recommend riding everything in the segment and truly pay attention to the differences. The new Goldwing is obviously very different, but they drastically reduced the luggage capacity.
Great points! I'm in the process of trying out different bikes - it's just a very slow process trying to get my hands on all of them. Lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I love how the Indian rides... Smooth and powerful. Plenty more tech and goodies, ride modes etc over the HD SGS... Very similar in price too. The Indian is $34k CDN and the SGS is $38k+ here. Indian wins in terms of value for the money IMO...
The camer angle was pretty bad for the fairing but it's not bad at all in real life. I've ridden goldwings, ultra classics, etc., and have never had any major issues with field of view. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks "I don't do anything stupid" belly laugh this morning :D ... I have a Sunset Red and Black Victory but if I had bought new I've have gone for the White and Black, which also looks awesome on the Chieftain
I really like both. I just wish Polaris would've stuck with Victory. I don't care for the looks of the Victory Vision, but all the other models are solid an reliable. The Indian Scout is a Victory Octane. I currently own a Victory Hammer premium because I prefer powercruisers, but that's just my opinion. I think Harley Davidson has stepped up with the m-8 series.
Yeah, I've ridden a few victory models (the hammer included). I'm also a big fan of the new m-8 based on my experience with the fatbob. Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
I agree with you. I've come to own two victory motorcycles and they are a fantastic bike. I really want Indian to put a powerplant that's basically the same as the 106 in their bikes, such a great running engine.
I didnt like the visions at first either. Then I rode one. Now I own one and I hope it does me out, because even though its an 09, nothing else touches it as far as handling and ride comfort. Ill be keeping this one until the duct tape and superglue dont hold
S&S makes a big bore kit for the new Harley 107 and 114. Its about $1500 which brings the 107 up to a 126ci and the 114 to 130ci. If you buy a Harley with the 114 your gonna pay around $1600 more than the exact same bike with the 107.
Awesome dude, I would love to try that one out, it sounded sweet, just talked to you going down the road, and the response was unreal. But that 27 grand sticker keeps me at a distance. Lol Nice Review, thanks.
Yeah, the exhaust is pretty nice on those things! I agree, though, 27k is a bit steep for my blood. Lol. Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
You definitely know about bikes. I have a Goldwing, Harley, BMW, Kawasaki, etc and new edition to my collection is a Indian Roadmaster. Definitely rides very nice like a Goldwing. Of course different category but awesome bike.
Nice video. What is the difference between the gold wing and chieftain ? I know they are completely different bikes and characters. I mean the power, foot peg vibration, lean angle and how it easy to lean it and change direction, and which one was more fun to drive.
Unfortunately to be the one to tell you, the Harley in the same class still has 3 more horses, but the Indian has and inch or two more clearance the both have something the other does not vs the road glide
It felt a lot lighter than it's weight. It fell right into corners better than the Street and road glides I test road, more like a sportier bike than a big bagger. My legs were a little cramped at 6'3. That radio was pretty good too. I could feel the base while riding.
I plan to hit the next demo ride that my local harley dealer puts on. I'm curious to see what the new Road Glide/114 feels like. Thanks for checking the channel and sharing your experience with the moto. Ride safe, brother!
I like the three different performance settings. HD offers four stages for their line. It sounds like the Indian setup is like the HD Stage III, real torque when you want it throughout the full rpm range. I also like the adjustable windscreen. I have a HD Street Glide which is a great bike for long distance rides.
I bet the street glide is a smooth ride! I've ridden a few of the older models (2009, 2010, 2012). Unfortunately I'll be missing a demo ride tmrw that the local harley dealer is putting on. Otherwise I'd try out the new street or road glide. Thanks for watching and sharing!
I have a 2018 road glide with a stage 3 kit on it and love it so far. I looked into the Indians and almost got one instead but the biggest issue is they don't have enough stores. I do long distance rides a lot and if my Harley breaks down I can get a part or a tow to a fix every 50 miles or so(roughly depending on where in the country). Indian however you can end up being a state away from the nearest shop, that's a long expensive tow. If you ride more local and there is a dealership in town it's not an issue, but if you do long multi state rides its something to think about. Maybe when Polaris builds a bigger network I'll switch but for now having a dealership nearby all. The time beats a few minor luxury things for me. Just my opinion though everyone get what they like best!
Good point. I hadn't thought about that. You also hit the nail on the head at the end - everyone get what they like best! I agree 100% It's nice to have options! Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
you shouldnt have to worry about a bike breaking down if its built right. ill never buy another harley id feel comfortable riding my indian from maine to california then back to maine without worrying about it breaking.
@@steve19745 you obviously have never done long rides especially in a pack. No matter how well a bike is built sometimes shit happens. A tire goes flat when you cant avoid debris, wildlife runs out,a jerk texting and driving hits you. Not all breakdowns are from faulty hardware. i rode from maine to california 5 times and rode 12 years with the outlaws so yea ive probably shit more iron than youll ever ride harley broke down 3 of the usa runs indian went all the way to cali and back to maine zero breakdowns.
It is. What I was eluding to is that it doesn't have the full front fairing, radio, etc. I was just too amped up to put my thoughts into words. Hahaha. But yes, by all means the rk fits the bagger/touring bike. Now that you mention it, I didn't even check to see if the chieftain has electronic cruise control. Nice! I rode the scout bobber (demo ride) and had a complete blast! Almost picked up a dark horse a year or so back but didn't pan out. Thanks for checking out the vid!
I run a 2015 Chieftain, bought it used. The engine mods were cams, big sucker intake and pipes. It has tons of power, but if you buy one, remove the cat and run true dual pipes. The 111 will put off some heat, you won't regret the upgrades, even if you just go 111. I like the preload for the rear shock so you can firm up the ride some if you like. For and 815 lb scooter, it gets right on down the road.
Four miles? H-D told me to take it (Harley) out and I came back 25 minutes later after testing it out on the freeway and curves. Check out the Road Glide Special.
I’ve ridden both a Roadmaster and an HD Ultra Limited. Of the two I preferred the Indian It was better balanced, handled and stopped better through mountain roads. The Ultra is much more top heavy so at low speeds it’s more of a handful. It’s fine if you want to get on an interstate, set the cruise and just roll down a highway. The Indian will do that as well but once the roads get twisty I found it much better balanced.
Thanks for the insight! I'm very curious to see how the new harley touring bikes stack up. But hands down I would take the indian over the 103 ci harleys that I've ridden in the past. Well, for touring purposes at least. I still have the dyna sitting in my garage. Lol. Thanks for checking the vid! Ride safe!
Hahaha...at least I didn't do anything stupid on that ride. Lol. I don't think the dude was very confident I'd be able to handle the leisurely ride around the block. He was real cool though.

Man, I keep forgetting there's still snow on the ground in most places. Sounds like a supermoto might be a good bike! Turn those pot holes into gaps to jump over. Lol. What would be your ideal (realistic) choice?
I bought my wife a Scout and she loves it. I have ridden it and its awesome. I have ridden a Harley Road King and it was relaxing and smooth so I wont knock Harleys. My question to you is, does any thing stack up to a Raider. I ride my Raider every day rain or shine, hot or cold, it is 10 years old and I am at the point it needs a lot of cash dumped into maintenance. I see these new Indians blowing everything away and it makes me think about trading it in. But I just cant do it....... Whats your opinion?
Charles Ellis Hi, I had a 2008 Yamaha xv1900 Stratoliner. Pc5 and KN filters One of the best bikes I’ve had. 60000 km trouble free. Just ordinary maintenance. Now I have a 2018 BMW K1600 GTL. Planet blue metallic, brown leather seats. Bought it grand new. Great in every aspect.

Not a big fan of the Thunderstroke engine. Don't care for too much power down low. Makes bikes jerky and difficult to ride smoothly particularly cornering. Don't like the whiskey throttle when you hit pot holes either. Also don't care for all the heat thrown off the Thunderstokes. I do like the engine characteristics of the new Challenger a lot. Power is at the top where it's useful for things like catching up to a group or passing traffic. My M8 does fine though you have to shift it a little more often than you would a more powerful engine. No biggie, but bang for the buck goes to the Challenger. Do find getting worked up over bagger power kinda funny too. Excellent cut away of hauling ass on the R1. If one desires big power, that's the aisle they should be shopping.
Hahaha! You nailed it! Baggers for comfort and touring. Sport bikes for speed and performance. Of course now it's all about the performance bagger. Lol.
The first thing I see is if you get caught in the rain...make sure it's all sealed up good, I hope you vacum seal up all electronic stuff. Get the original Indian and make it your own.
I test rode the indian chief dark horse and i hated the throttle and cluch. Ended up with a low rider S but I'm sure the indian would have been fun. just preferred ergos and controls better on low rider
My 2006 Yamaha Stratoliner 113 with 40K miles is not only a Harley killer but an Indian Chieftain killer. If Harley and Polaris cant out pull my 13 year old Yammy V-twin by now and with more CI's, they probably wont ever. Add insult, I have rode the Thunder Chicken 111 Indian and it was a far cry from what my OHC 106 Victory Cross Country manages. Good looking bike, but I am not impressed enough to 'upgrade' from my Victory CCT....
I'm a big fan of the Yamaha 1900 (raider, stratoliner, roadliner). If you watch my vid from a few months back where I bought a used raider on craigslist, I mentioned the exact same thinf: Yamaha was way ahead with the 113 when harley was still on the 96 at the time. Lol. I'm a victory fan as well. Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
Thank you and you do as well. I did watch that video and always have wanted to put a Raider in my garage. I still have the Strat but I only seem to ride the CCT. What surprised me on the CCT over the strat is how well it sticks to a line in the turns. Straight line, my stat will pull the Vic but as soon as I start turning the CCT is gone. That surprised me. I rode a few of the Chieftains and I love the fit, finish and the chrome is great. Personally the 111 is one of the best looking V-twins made in recent years but I was a bit shocked when I twisted that right grip and not much happened. One ride was on the demo days and I asked the guy running the show if they de-tuned the bikes to keep people from acting a fool and he said they were factory. Chances are, my next dresser bike will be the Indian but until then I am sticking with my Victory.

Beautiful MC . I know that bikes are in their own marketplace however, you can by a lot of AWD car or Kubota tractor for $27K. I would have to win the lottery before splurging that much on any MC. Especially, when you can get a great used bike for less than half that price..

The way I see it nobody is killing anybody. Each brand has its own following with Harley having an edge in dealer support anywhere you go. Indian has woke from the dead and caught Harley D sleeping while Indian has a more maintenance-free design with its gear drive primary, single hole oil filling and large oil cooler and now the full liquid-cooled Challenger.
Not a fair comparison. The factory HD 114 or 117 is not even a fair comparison to this 116. This 116 is a $5500 option you add to the factory Indian. They call it the Stage 3 power something. It replaces heads, pistons , throttle body and more. Harley’s comparable kit is the Stage 4 kit. If you wanted to be fair get a HD 114 or 117 and do the Stage 4 and then you will have a fair comparison. Some people think just because you have a 117 CVO or a 114 Special you have a faster bike. A 107 with a Stage 4 will smoke a factory 117 all day long. S&S makes smaller displacement engines and kits that would smoke HD 117 with a Stage kit.
I know it's petty but I really dislike the stying of the guage clusters on the fairing. Looks cheaply made wit the Micky mouse ears and the inset touch screen. And why not just mount the side mirrors in the fairing? They seem out of place.
Can't beat a road glide special. Had the same experience trying the indian out in Florida the sales person was a pain in the ass took me around one block in an industrial park with speed bumps
Hahahah...this guy was actually pretty cool. he didn't try the hard sell at all. I think he was just getting paid by the dealership to take people around on rides. Asked my local dealership about test riding a 116. They put me on a 111, drove around the block & said, "if you're willing to buy one with a 116, we'll build it for you, but you have to commit to the purchase." Good luck Indian. Love your bikes. Not so impressed with the dealerships. (Yes, I've been to a few)

I hear ya. Harley had so many aftermarket accessories available. Plus there are way more dealers in the event something goes awry while out on the road. I really want to get out the scout - big fan of the style. Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
I think you know a whole lot more about bikes, then that Indian salesman, just my observation
The sales guy sounds like he just left sales at a Harley dealer... Tool.
😂 yep
Ride safe!
I kinda like this bike, but I'm not sure about the 1980's TV in the middle!?!? What is up with this look?
Hahaha! No kidding.
Does the Indian head light up on the front fender ? I heard they don’t !! Which is a big negative for me. It’s what makes the Indian iconic.
The fairing looks minimal. I like it.
Great Video, I rode the Indian that looks like a Road King and it rode really nice. I curious to see if Harley does anything for 2020 with the Street Glide’s. But the Indian is a smooth riding bike!
Heck yeah! I had a blast on the Indian! Super smooth!
Well said!
Seems tough to see over the faring. I am 5'8 as well.......How comfortable was it to simply see your steering line of sight? Thanks
The camer angle was pretty bad for the fairing but it's not bad at all in real life. I've ridden goldwings, ultra classics, etc., and have never had any major issues with field of view. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@JonsMotoGarage Hey thanks , much appreciated......great stuff.
It's nice, but seeing where you're going is sort of a requirement with me. Please tell me the camera is mounted at belt height, not on the helmet.
Thanks "I don't do anything stupid" belly laugh this morning :D ... I have a Sunset Red and Black Victory but if I had bought new I've have gone for the White and Black, which also looks awesome on the Chieftain
Yeah, the white and black is pretty sharp. I had a white/blk high ball for a short period. The sunset red and black is definitely more of a rarity.
Ride safe!
Thanks brother, keep the shiny side up and knees in the breeze 🏍🏍🏍🏍
I agree with you. I've come to own two victory motorcycles and they are a fantastic bike. I really want Indian to put a powerplant that's basically the same as the 106 in their bikes, such a great running engine.
I didnt like the visions at first either. Then I rode one. Now I own one and I hope it does me out, because even though its an 09, nothing else touches it as far as handling and ride comfort. Ill be keeping this one until the duct tape and superglue dont hold
@@DrDaddy-yg2ki same, just got a 2011 with 9k miles for $8.5. Great bike.
I test road the 114 Road Glide. And the 116 Indian blows it out the water. It’s not even close on the torque and power.
What's the black bike next to the white one at 2:46?
I think it's the darkhorse, but not sure.
Ride safe!
I think the driver facing portion of the fairing is hideous. Maybe its the white? Maybe its the oversized screen and buttons? I don't love the look.
Hahaha...someone else compared to to an alien. Thanks for checking out the video!
Go ahead and buy it. You'll remember the fun long after you've forgotten the price
Unfortunately to be the one to tell you, the Harley in the same class still has 3 more horses, but the Indian has and inch or two more clearance the both have something the other does not vs the road glide
As far as touch screen goes I always have trouble with gloves on. The board just doesn't respond to gloved hands, I don't know I could be wrong.
I don't understand why would it be in first gear? I'm just trying to learn. What's the point in leaving it in first gear?
Race the HD Sportster 1250? 1992 Sportster vs 2007 zx-14 10.60s at 126ish. zx ran high 10.60 at 140ish
Nice!
I love the new Indians but I stand by my statement due to my personal experience.
i rode from maine to california 5 times and rode 12 years with the outlaws so yea ive probably shit more iron than youll ever ride harley broke down 3 of the usa runs indian went all the way to cali and back to maine zero breakdowns.
@@steve19745 oh really? What was your road name?
Since when isn't a Road King a bagger?
Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
I DO feel the CVO, or other touring bikes from HD, would benefit from an adjustable windscreen, & the ride modes.
I heard one of em had a ride mode, but I forget which. So you got the cvo!?!?! Nice! One day I'll get my hands on one.

For and 815 lb scooter, it gets right on down the road.

eh hum.... Did you say at 6:04 "nice big FOREIGN bike"? foreign?🤨
Ride safe!

Indian, It seems like you were catching a lot of wind on it ?

The way I see it nobody is killing anybody. Each brand has its own following with Harley having an edge in dealer support anywhere you go. Good review, on my bucket list for sure, thanks
Watch out for smoke signals
