You did everything humanly possible. Thank you for that. It saddens me that there's no proper studio recording of this song but I feel a little better knowing that I'm not the only one who wishes that there was one. It's crazy that a song this good will probably never properly see the light of day but life is crazy like that. I feel about it the same way I feel about the lost Doctor Who episodes. Maybe some day something will turn up. Never give up hope!
Matt Emswiler I feel like there’s probably a master laying around in a drawer or file cabinet somewhere deep in the studio archives. It’s just the no one with the access cares enough or has time to seek it out. I mean we have to admit, it is pretty obscure. Or, they just destroyed the master and recycled the tape or cd for another project.
That does not surprise me in the slightest...The only hope there is with this song is that I have heard from a guy on a message board somewhere that him and his wife heard this song while on vacation somewhere in the Caribbean...Perhaps this song is still played down there...But thanks again for posting...I have scoured the entire net...I even got the names JD Nichols and Peter Wolf from the movie and looked them up on Facebook to ask them about a studio copy...Never found them...This is such a fantastic song!
Thanks for uploading the extended movie version of the “conga line”...effin awesome. Love the blonde in the dress that Richard jumps behind... this movie is an absolute classic...👍👍👍👍
Odd that the catchiest island jingle of all time would be forever confined to the conga scene of Weekend at Bernie's II. C'est la vie. Thanks for giving us the 'extended' cut :)
Like many of you before me, have searched this song for years. Always coming up empty with just clips from the movie. Great job clipping a long version together. Great movie and even greater song. Always makes me think back to the great Caribbean and Cruises I have taken over the years!
Such an upbeat catchy song! It makes no sense that it was never released as a single! Even this many years later it doesn’t sound old. I would love to get this song on my playlists!
Too long? Not long enough... One of the best parts of the movie which I must have watched a million times by now, never gets old & always makes me smile and want to dance.
Thanks for doing this. I did the same back in the days with my tape recorder next to the TV speakers, pausing each time to rewind the VHS. 90s were THE BEST! ❤️❤️❤️
I worked on this film. We got a break in the pouring rain to shoot the Conga line. There WAS talk with the brass about a movie soundtrack, but was vetoed.
@@Kraedt Say no more. Oh crazy I actually found that one around the same time and yeah yours does have the bonus of being a single full song rather than repeating and having movie quotes.
The guy who sang it is James Dean Nicholas. But he only sang it for this film and there is no studio version available in any format including digital.
This is by FAR my favorite video on all of RUclips. Thank you INFINITELY for bestowing this absolute blessing upon us because I can’t find another copy of this bop ANYWHERE and this has been my favorite movie since I was a young child. 😭❤️
This is for all the people searching for ''Momma let go'' I found Ina Wolf's website and contacted her via email in the search of any information on the song, and i recieved this answer from her. Ina made the lyrics for the song and her husband Peter made the music. ''good evening Anders, how nice to hear from fans of weekend at bernie’s II unfortunately I am not in possession of the 'Mama let go‘-track. It was always thought of as part of the score. I am sorry that I can’t be of help! Thank you for contacting me.. best regards from Austria to Denmark! Ina'' By ''score'' i think she meant ''scene'' but im not sure.
I think by score she means movie specific music they make just to match what's going on. Often these songs go unreleased and ignored in the background in movies and shows. Sometimes they are particularly catching and snatch audience attention which becomes a problem with no official track existing and probably not saved anywhere.
Great job! I started playing the video before noticing the runtime. About 5 minutes in, I was thinking, "When the hell is the muscle guy gonna punch Bernie?"
Lol yess!!!! I love this song, and could never find a studio version of it, thanks for this. this movie is one of the reasons I got into reggae at such a yong age
So sad none of us can add this song to our playlists, J.D Nicolas needs to fix this. A fan made a decent one without the movie sounds. That version and this version here are the best we have at the moment. ruclips.net/video/bXDdrcCgUzQ/видео.html
Far worse and terrible soundtracks have made their way to light - boggles me that this one never got a release! Don't give up hope! Dirty Rotten Scoundrels had a soundtrack released in limited quantity by popular demand over 10 years after the movie was released, go figure. Lots of these lesser known songs are hitting the public domain age about now which would make it easier to do.
Being a huge fan of this song like all the other commenters, I decided to check out a lot more Reggae. This song seems to be an anomaly, it's not really like most of it. It's an Americanized pop version, which is probably why it's so appealing heh. This leads me to believe that my be part of the reason this song does not exist in any other format. For all we know J.D. Nicolas could think it's ridiculous and refuses to play it again. With that being said, why hasn't anyone decided to do a faithful cover version? I'm sure someone out there knows people in a reggae band that would give it a shot.
The music from weekend at Bernie’s II makes me think of a high school and college spring break party cruise from Miami Florida to Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Negril and Kingston, Jamaica, Atlantis and Baha Mar paradise island, and Nassau Bahamas, Havana, Cuba, Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, San Juan, Isla Palomino, Puerto Rico, St Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands, Georgetown and Grand Cayman Cayman Islands, Aruba, Antigua, Bermuda, Barbados, Panama City, Republic of Panama, Central America, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, Cozumel, Cancun, Riviera Maya Mexico, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo Brazil, Montevideo Uruguay and Buenos Aires Argentina. 🇯🇲🇧🇸🇩🇴🇵🇷🇦🇼🇧🇧🇧🇲🇨🇺🇵🇦🇲🇽🇰🇾🇻🇮🇦🇬🇺🇾🇧🇷🇦🇷

we need this to make an official song. Maybe we should make a petition or something. We need closure!
I agree
Legend has it Bernie is still leading the conga line on the shores of the Virgin Island's.
And that muscle head is still eating and lifting weights
True that
